Questions & Answers

  1. Mike says:

My wife will be laid off soon. She works @27 hours a week. Is she eligible for a reduced benefit?

  2. Kermit Hall says:

Why when I certify for my benefit from Teleserve on Wednesday then find out on Friday when the direct deposit don’t go to my card then I call the Marion office and listen to a 5 minute recording to learn they will not answer their phone. So I call Chicago office to learn it is always busy and they don’t obviously want to help either. I then call Teleserve and try to certify again to learn my account is suspended. It is now Monday and still can’t get through to Chicago office. I call every 20 minutes with hope in talking to someone who can help. I pay taxes and this is Un acceptable system that is in place. The drive to marion is my last hope to get help. Don’t anyone care about others in this state? State workers are on my dime, they should be there when someone needs help. After calling all day Friday and Monday nothing will ever change. This is a joke.

  3. Debra Firth says:

Hello I have a quick question. If a person is working an takes voluntary layoff with a severance package and is receiving a little over $5,000.00 would you still be eligible for Unemployment?

    • kathy says:

You are eligible for unemployment due to the layoff. The severance package may affect whether or not you qualify to receive benefits during a specific portion of your claim and may reduce the amount of benefits.
