Indiana Unemployment Weekly Claims
Before you can get paid benefits each week, you must file a weekly claim and certify your eligibility for benefits. In Indiana, this is known as a Claim Voucher.
Claim vouchers are due each week after you first apply for Indiana unemployment. Vouchers must be filed between Sunday and 8:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the following Saturday. If you miss the deadline, you won’t get benefits for that week.
How to submit a weekly claim voucher
Weekly claims must be submitted online. Submit your weekly voucher using the Uplink Claimant Self Service. If you don’t have access to the internet, you can visit your local WorkOne office where they have computers and internet available for free.
The website will walk you through how to fill out your voucher, so make sure to read each question and your answers carefully before you submit it. If you run into any trouble, you can call the Indiana Unemployment Unemployment Insurance Division for help.
Claim requirements
When you file a weekly claim voucher for Indiana unemployment benefits, you’re confirming that you’ve met several important requirements:
- You’ve registered for work on Indiana Career Connect and met all job search requirements. The state of Indiana requires you to perform one approved work search activity each week.
- You’ve told the state about any work, income, or self-employment you had during that week, whether or not you’ve been paid for it yet.
- You’ve been upfront about any issues that stopped you from working full time this week.
- All the personal information and answers you provided on your claim are true and accurate.
- You acknowledge that lying or leaving out information on purpose to get benefits is Indiana unemployment fraud.
If you’re dishonest or miss key details, there are serious consequences. You could lose your unemployment compensation and even have to pay back the money you got, plus interest and penalties. You could also face legal trouble, both civil and criminal. So be thorough and honest when submitting your weekly claim.
Waiting Week
Every Indiana unemployment applicant must go through a waiting period after applying for UI benefits. The waiting period lasts for one week. Even though you don’t get paid, you still need to file a voucher for that week to stay eligible for benefits.
Delays or Appeals
If your payment is delayed for eligibility reasons, or you have filed an appeal due to a disagreement, be sure to keep submitting your weekly vouchers by the Saturday deadline.
Once the issue is resolved, you’ll get paid if you’re eligible and have been filing on time. Otherwise, you will lose benefits for the weeks you didn’t file.
How to avoid issues with your Indiana unemployment weekly claim
Be Honest
Giving false or incorrect information when you’re filing for UI benefits is illegal and considered fraud. Always make sure every piece of information you provide is correct.
Sign up on Indiana Career Connect
To get UI benefits, you need to register on Indiana Career Connect. The site can help you find a new job and explore careers.
Actively search for work
Each week you want benefits, you must complete a job search activity. Keep records of where you’ve looked for work. You may be asked to provide documented proof of your activities. If you are unable to, your benefits will be denied for that week.
Don’t say no to a suitable job offer
If you refuse a reasonable job, you risk losing or delaying your benefits. You must be able, available, and willing to work to qualify for weekly compensation.
Report all earnings
Report all your earnings for each week you claim benefits. This means any part-time or temporary work, pensions, or other income.
Read the instructions carefully
Get to know the rules for getting UI benefits in Indiana. Reading all the material sent to you can help you avoid errors that might cost you money later on.
I haven’t been paid because of some “Normal Customary Shutdown” issue. Anyone know how and how long this takes to resolve? I need to be paid as my child support payments come from it and I’m not being paid from work because I’m not working … Really could use some answers right now.
I can’t even file the weekly claim voucher. It refuses to get me to that page.
Hey did you ever get this resolved or what happened to it? I just recently got laid off and filed the past few weeks now mI w says customary shutdown? What happened with yours? The past few weeks of my claim says that same thing
Did you problem get fixed? I’m getting this same thing currently on my unemployment.
Same issue here the last 3 weeks
Its been happening to me since October of 2021 and still no answers
Susan,
We understand your situation. There will be a delay considering the pendency. Please continue following up regularly.
Kenny,
Please call the Unemployment Office to see if you can be eligible for partial UI benefits.
It states in my uplink account that retroactive vouchers for the 2 week gap in June 2021 would have been posted on 7/15 and 7/16. Ive checked my uplink account everyday and still today there are vouchers made available for me to file. Are there any other people on PUA that havent recieved their retroactive vouchers for the gap in June? Just worried since its Saturday and they must be filed by Sat. @ 9pm. Im worried.
Hello, I’m not seeing the link that allow me to file my weekly claim. I have about 6 weeks worth of weekly claims to catch up on. I finally got a favorable decision for my unemployment benefits.
My weekly voucher is not showing on my account. Is there something wrong with the system?
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WEBSITE! THEY CHANGED IT?!?!?! Now I am lost!!!
Mine is the same. Won’t let me file
My weekly voucher did not show up this week is anyone else having this issue.
I’ve been checking everydau multiple times. No voucher again today.
Stevie – I’m having the same issue and checked this morning and it’s still not resolved. I just don’t have the option the fill the voucher out. Although, it did ask me to enter a code, like a 2-step verification this login, and it’s never done that before.
As of Tuesday June 29 my weekly voucher has not shown up
I haven’t received my pay has anyone had issues this week
Michelle,
Hope you were able to get to the bottom of it.
Did it show up yet, brandy?
My weekly voucher isn’t showing up either. By the looks of the thread, this is an issue with many people. Maybe a system issue but I don’t see any notifications when logging in.
Bro I got 1 deposit then I accidentally put the wrong answer for able and available then called and explained and I have put the correct answer for that question on every voucher since and i still havnt been paid and all my vouchers say A&A…THAT WAS ALMOST 9 WEEKS AGO..all they keep telling me is that someone will call me…. and this is my first week not filing a voucher cause I found a job.
Mr. Moore,
I hope you were able to get to the bottom of it.
Jeff – unfortunately, when I call the customer service number I can’t get to a live person. I checked again this morning and still no voucher form available for me to fill out. Not sure what’s going on.
Mr. Moore,
The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. Please visit the website to find the answers.
Brandy,
As long as you’re checking within the stipulated time, it should be visible. Please call the Claims Center if the issue persists.
I was unable to file my voucher on Saturday due to internet issues so I had to file it Sunday. The office is closed today as well so I can’t call and ask. What’s gonna happen?
Hi, Wendy – You can follow up with the Indiana unemployment office when they open back up after the Labor Day holiday. They will be the best ones to answer your questions about your specific situation.

I have PEUC because I exhausted my benefits in my regular UI claim. Well as you know that all ended december 2020. Well I just received 3 back vouchers and filed them today. The vouchers were the o my thing in my “to-do” list. Everything went thru even says my entitlement is $591 and the amount paid to claimant is also $591 but there is no pay date. There’s a date filed but no pay date. No money on my key2benefits card either and it’s well past 2pm And there’s no issues with my claim whatsoever. HELP ME!!
Brady,
Please consider the option of visiting an office in the vicinity if safe and feasible.
I recently applied for employment and after I filled out the form successfully without any mistake I supposed, I got a Issue Type – Laid Off/Lack of Work . When I filled my week voucher, it says No payment because of issue. I wasn’t paid. Please, can anyone tell me if he or she has this issue and how to resolve it. Thanks
Korey,
Please call the Unemployment Office immediately for a fix. You may be required to talk to a Claims Officer.
My claim went from claims investigation to no issues found but still no money is paid out what do I do
Rochelle,
It might be under processing. Please wait for 2-3 days before following up.
All of my 0.00 turned into 449.00 but there’s no payment date on them so I’m not sure when I’ll get paid
Hi my name is chris i made a mistake in june when I applied for unemployement I was using a. Old phone with poor service and broken screen all the places I could’ve went to use a computer were locked dwn.i hit the wrong voucher to start filing and didnt realize there were 12 others behind it.i caught the mistake within a out 10 days went to dwd office sent fax explaining and email also phone calls have repeated several times was told need to talk to a claim advisor transferred to that line left messages again several times.was told by several people several times when I called that there shouldnt be a problem with the vouchers being released so that I could file them.i dont understand this has been horrible and now at the end of 2020 we have lost everything and about to loose our home a d our children and pets we may have to have family members take them for awhile so we can gigure something out.and I forgot to mention my wife is disabled.sorry I’m so confused and desperate at the same time
Sam I mistakenly click no instead of yes on the question was I available to work during the week 9/15 . I called spoke to a customer service person who told me i may have to speak to a claims adjuster and to send a fax explaining i chose the wrong button. And now my phone is off. I also went a head and filed for next week but is still saying unresolved issue availability should I send another fax explaining my phone is still off im still unemployed.
I don’t even know if anyone is still here… ?? but I have searched everywhere to figure out what to do, if anyone can help at all. I was in quarantine the first 3 weeks of January which I put on my vouchers… but somehow I accidentally hit that I didn’t accept the work( bc I was in quarantine) so now it says that on my last 3 vouchers. I have no idea how to correct a voucher that has already been sent.
Bruce,
Please wait for the representative to get back to you. The office may be inundated with requests.
I was trying to submit my weekly voucher and I was unable to complete due to an error message I received. Now on claimant page shows voucher submitted but no benefit. I have called and messaged numerous time and no answer. Has any on else encountered this type of issue.
Same trouble. Suggested they’d call within next business day. Didn’t. The I called again and it said 72 hours and they recognized my number as being in the cue. Still no word after 4 days. Emailed. I got a response saying to wait for a claims adjudicator to contact me. Ahhh when might that be? No resolution or inclination of how or when to expect a response. Frustrated.
Scott,
Please try finding answers online since there might be limited phone support due to the shortage of staffing. You can use the “Resources” or “FAQs” section of the website.
I’ve had the same trouble each week since 7/13/2020, haven’t been paid since 7/13/2020!!!!! Miss Kim Jones is a reluctant customer service agent!!!!! I’ve called & message a billion time, NEVER a reply!!!!! Indiana’s Unemployment Website sucks camel doo doo
Jeffery,
We understand this might be a difficult time for you. We’re anticipating a shortage of staff across unemployment offices due to the massive surge in UI applications considering the pandemic. Please be patient.
Issue Type Decision
Normal Customary Shutdown
What does that mean
I honestly think this is some weird glich and they won’t admit to it. It has happened this week (for the 7/12 – 7/18 benefit claim) to a lot of people, you can see this on Reddit. They won’t admit that it’s a mistake on their end, obviously, and are blaming the employer… so we’re just going to have to wait for them to fix it. Honestly, it’s messed up. What it actually means is thaty the business you work for normally shuts down in the summer, regardless, almost like a school. That is NOT the case with my job, and I am currently on hold because of it. All the people on Reddit are talking about this too. I just made a purchase and bought a car, since my old car was messed up, which cost me all the money I had and the savings I had… now I just STOP getting payments from UI for a fault that is not mine… and now I am completely broke. This is such a joke, there are so many people out here struggling. Why don’t they start offering people jobs to help out, as obviously they are way behind? My friend, with 3 kids, have been waiting over 2 months for benefits and being harassed by her Mortgage Company… when asked, they never admit fault, they just said “we are waiting on your employer”… No, they are short staffed and need more people to deal with the crisis right now. HIRE ME, HIRE PEOPLE HERE NEEDING HELP, WE WILL GLADLY WORK. Sad.
I also received the same issue. My employer is not shut down either. WTH. I had no idea what it even meant till I googled it. Thanks for the info.
I just filed for my PUA last week… i didn’t know I was approved for retroactive payments, and only filed last weeks. Ive been unemployed since February.. is there a way to file for those missed weeks?
Sam,
The payment might not become retroactive. Please check for related info on the Unemployment Office website.
Sam how long does it take for normal customary shutdown its been over 6 weeks since payment
Same thing I applied for my UI in May though I laid off in March however they didn’t send me vultures for March and April
I forgot to claim my voucher on Sunday .. I filed on Monday .. well Sunday night .. will that effect my benefits?
So if it submitted at 1130 pm Sunday and you did not receive payment Monday when will it arrive and is saying no issues
Tara,
If you applied within the stipulated time, it should not be an issue.
Chelle,
If you filed within the stipulated window, you should receive the payment on time.
I work for heartland rd got layoff March 23 it has been 3weeks still haven’t got no money yet don’t go back to work until may4. Heartland sent them a paper of who got layoff because of coronavirus. Please help me

I’m unemployed due to the coronavirus and having preemie newborn twins . I have filed 8 vouchers and haven’t received anything do you know long it may taken I need the money for my family . I’m struggling I also have a toddler .
Taylor,
I can understand your situation. There will be an intermittent delay due to the pendency. Please keep following up at regular intervals.
I’d really like to know what kind of order is used. When processing applications as far as who goes first .Not that everybody doesn’t need help in some way right now if they’ve lost their job to the coronavirus but there are other families out here struggling much worse than some families that are collecting. I’m not just referring to my family! Literally everyone close to me that is got an appointment is completely shocked that me and my family of five 4 of being children are still waiting. It definitely separates out or vouchers when asking if we’re at home caring for dependents. I will be filing my seventh voucher this week. And I know there’s many more of people with dependents also still waiting
Bethany,
I can understand your situation. Unfortunately, there’s not much one can do at this juncture. Please be patient and keep checking the status at regular intervals.
How long do it take to get a reply if you put in the wrong answer and got a yellow symbol
Vanessa,
A “yellow” symbol might require action from you. Please call the Unemployment Office or check your account online.
I got yellow explanation mark and have not received anything to resolve. I’m currently unemployed due to COVID-19
We are sorry to hear about your difficulties. There is a huge shortage of staff across all unemployment offices due to a massive surge in UI applications. Your state has activated the ‘emergency funding’ program authorized by the federal government. We recommend you to apply for UI benefits online. For more information, please visit your state’s official website.
My Company did a temp layoff due to seasonal issues because it’s a Lawn care business. We were supposed t start back between the 3rd and the 14th of February but due that time being pushed back and due to weather, it’s not gonna be until the 17th now at the earliest. I just filed my Vouhcer and it says there are issues. It’s my first time on unemployment ever. I KNOW I still have the job. I have not been fired or anything like that, return to work has just been delayed.
The issues are the following.
Work Search Weekly
Employed full-time
What do I do to make sure I get my payment for the week of the 14th of February?
Because of the coronavirus my job is off for at least 3 weeks but maybe more. I’m I still required to look for other jobs even though I’m still employed and will go back once the virus is over? And when I finish filling out my benefits, my voucher status is a yellow sign. I have no idea what that means and this is supposed to be done by today. The 800 number says they cant answer and I’ll get a callback in 24 hours. I.dont want to miss out on my benefits
Andrew,
Seasonal workers are eligible only under certain conditions. To know your claim status, please call the Unemployment Office on the phone numbers provided.

What time does a weekly voucher have to be filed on Sunday for funds to be available on Monday? Is there a cut off time that will push the fund availability to Tuesday? For example: If I were to submit my voucher at 11:30 PM Sunday night, would I be paid on Monday still?
Gabrielle,
The window and TAT for weekly payments should be available after you log in to your account. If you’re unable to find this information, please call the Claims Center for help.
My voucher got approved but there is no status its just blank and the money didnt hit my card and it says no issues. What is the problem
What does the yellow symbol mean for the status of your voucher?
Candice,
Please place the mouse cursor over the symbol to know if it pops up any details. It simply means there’s an issue with your claim. Please call the Claims Center for clarification.
The status of my weekly voucher says failure to participate in weekly work search requirements. Could this be due to how I answered the questions on my voucher, if so can it be corrected so I will recieve my check this week?
Megan,
It can be due to multiple reasons. If the claim is not accepted, chances are you’ll not receive the payment. Please call the Claims Center for help.
Travis,
Please call the Claims Center for an update on payment status.
I filed my claim yesterday and there is now a red exclamation point by my claim. Although it says there are no issues. I am very confused.
I work for the union and we typically get laid off during a couple winter months each year. I have been filing and receiving benefits for about the past month but was given a notice that it was time to refile. I did so last week and it shows it went through but I haven’t received payment and the status is showing status customary shutdown. What does this mean for me?
Please send that back to me. So I can post it for all to see. I am only speaking the the truth. But you will probably want to hid the truth from the people. But it doesn’t matter I can write it again. Maybe a word or two off, from exactly the Truth.
Chris,
Some types of “time off from employment” does not qualify due to the seasonal nature. Please call the Claims Center for clarity on the status.
This is the second time my money is not been depisit in my eppicard. I have to call the 1800 # you guys provide to straight up and to tell you the true I don’t like to do this every weekend…

I have filed for unemployment for 3 years now. This is my 3rd time in winter season. The first two times I didn’t have any problems. Now for this one I finished my Initial claim, and my 1st voucher after the claim is done. I didn’t get paid for it which I understand that it’s normal procedure. But now I’m on my 2nd week and after I am finished I get a yellow flag saying I am Employed and working Full-Time. I stated that I am layed off. What could have I done wrong and what should I do to fix it?
Anthony,
It might be a human error during processing. Please call the Claims Center immediately and report it. They will also suggest corrective actions.
Worked a seasonal job for 9 months and still got a deny on my claim. It says on issues status customary shut down
Calvin and Sam just so you know, the Government shutdown does not affect the unemployment department. So there must be something else wrong I would call the claims service ASAP.
Calvin,
The “Status” might be due to the federal shutdown. Please wait and keep a track of news and updates.
If I make enough money one week that I know I wont get benefits, do I mark that I do not want to file a claim this week?
