  1. Have been unemployed since December 2020. Claim has been pending for 10 weeks now. Call multiple times every day and have only reach an agent 3 times in 10 weeks of calling. Submitted UI Inquiries every week and never get a response. I have submitted EVERYTHING they need in multiples. How do I get my claim escalated and approved? This is insane. No one should be made to wait this long to receive benefits they earned after 15 years of working and then getting laid off due to pandemic economic decline. Anyone have any suggestions on how to move a claim forward?

  2. I have been waiting since August 25th for someone to remove my PUA claim so I can file a regular UI claim. I was unemployed in April because my daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia last year and due to COVID they recommended I be off work. So I was approved PUA, at the end of August I needed to file for regular UI because the Chick-fil-A I worked at was temporarily closing to re-model. I have not been able to get through on any phone line and have sent multiple emails. PLEASE HELP!! I am back to work now but my savings are depleted from not collecting unemployment.

    • Michael,

Please try finding answers online since there might be limited phone support due to the shortage of staffing. You can use the “Resources” or “FAQs” section of the website.

      • The last person I talked to told me they had to do an escalation ticket to get it removed but that was 2 months ago and now I can’t get through it’s not something I can do I was told that it has to be done by someone within the unemployment office

        • Michael,

The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. Please visit the website to find the answers.

  3. I would like to talk to a live person not automated system. How do I do that? And before giving me numbers, I have tried several, like 1-800-293-4125 and 667-207-6520. Neither one of those work.

    • I’m in the same boat as you very frustrated. I have been checking beacon websites for 2 and a halfs months all I get is Still pending.

      • Did that still waiting for an aswer. And it didn’t help, I’ve been filling for 9 weeks and get Still pending. No real person and get hung up on with the Automatic on. Going Crazy over This

        • Help! My account has been flagged for fraud! I keep calling the number provided to me and all it does is say that its transferring me to a live agent, but then says that the UI office is unable to answer my call at this time. This is bullshit dude! It’s not even ringing at a place where there are people to answer calls! Its just a giant answering service! There is NO LIVE people to help at all! It’s like sending all your clients straight to voicemail and not giving a shit that people’s LIVES are at stake here!

  6. Hello .I work in Towson university and I get temporarily lay off in summers .I receive unemployment benefit during the summer .Now my question is if I attend a school for two month do I lose my benefit?

    • Ali,

That is correct. Attending school hampers chances of engaging in a full-time job and therefore has an impact on UI benefits. Please call the Unemployment Office for more.

  7. Can my boss even though I have been working there almost a year hold pay from me until I get my DOT Physical even after putting me on the payroll? They said I started in April but I really started in May and they told me to go home until I have it done. Can I file for these two weeks?

  8. What can you do if you work for a company and they tell you there is no work and they will call you when they are busy? Shouldn’t they have to lay you off?

    • Linda,

If you’re on full-time rolls of the company and they’re paying UI taxes into the system, you might be able to claim partial UI benefits. Please call the Unemployment Office for more.

    • Lexi,

    • Stephanie,

  9. I just received my last check from my previous job. I have already filed for unemployment benefits. Should I enter this amount on my weekly claim certification?

    • Amber,

    • I can’t reach a live agent. When I select the option I get a voice message that says invalid entry. I can’t file on beacon because I filed a claim 2 months ago. Even tho that claim is closed, I don’t have an option to file again. I’ve been laid off since last week and can’t reach anyone.

        • I am so frustrated they asked me to update my information and it’s been weeks now without unemployment and I am behind on bills. I called every number there is . I need help.
