I just tried to file an umemployment claim and *argh*! I kept getting the run around between two phone numbers. The website said I couldn't file online until I called one phone number. Calling that number got me referred to another phone number that then referred me to the previous number. I don't think I'll ever be able to file a new claim.

BIll - I think the maximum number of weeks allowed is 72 in NY. You should be able to renew after you exceed your first 20 weeks.

i am currently on my 8th week of emergency benifits. i have 12 weeks of that left which will take me to the 17th of january, i was in the military and became a NYS Lisenced Security Gaurd. have gone from buffalo to NYC looking for jobs, have had interviews all over NY and when they ask if i have a degree and i say "no" their first responce is im sorry but this posistion requires a degree. i have also taken every civil service test that has been given since january 09, have scored high 90's and still nothing has come of them. will the state extend benefits again and will i receive anything from it when they do cause the job market is not looking good and i have twins on the way, they will be here in 3 months. what am i going to do,

I would like to file a complaint against the NYS unemployment insurance system. How do I go about doing that? My girlfriend's unemployment payments were stopped and then she won them back. It is going on three weeks since they decided to give her the back unemployment benefits, but the people at the NYS unemployment do nothing but give her the run-around. It shouldn't take more than an hour for one person to calculate the back pay and apply it to her unemployment account. All they say is that the payments have been processed and approved, but it will take a week to get her the money. Meanwhile her electrcity has been shut off and more utlities will follow. She called NYS unemployment this morning and was told another 48 to 72 hours. Something has to be done about this ridiculous hold up of the benefits.

Pete
NY state passed legislation in May and it will extend benefits to unemployed New Yorkers. These changes will extend the benefits by 13 weeks which result in a total of 72 weeks.
