I am a retiree but had to take a job to make ends meet. I've been at this job for three years. If I was laid off would I qualify for unemployment since my pension isn't actually earnings?

Not everyone is covered by unemployment compensation. Pensioners are not covered in a virtual sense. Though you have worked for en employer who is included in the scheme and they have had taxes paid on their wages. But your pension would be deducted from thei benefit, so that you may never actually collect Unemployment Compensation.
