Can I still file for extension benefit for week ending 1-02-2014

I was lai off in April 26, 2013 and received unemployment benefits. I receiving my first tier extension until the benefit expired last Dec 28, 2013. There was about a $2,700 balance in the said extension.

I received a letter saying I could still get a waiting period credit for the week ending 01-02-2014 if I called or filed a new claim with EDD 1 to 5 days before 01-02-2014. Unfortunately I was out of town looking into opportunities offered by a friend, and I was not able to see the letter until after 01-02-2014.

Is there a way for me to still avail of this credit even if I was not able to file based on the instruction? Whether or not I could, would this affect my eligibilty for extension credits if Congress does approve funding for the federal extensions?

Well, the core of your question is best answered by the labor dept in your state who dispatched the letter to you making an offer.

Please check for any deadline dates in the letter and call the claims center/Customer service accordingly.
