In what radius away from home must you apply in order to meet the criteria for "actively searching" upon being let go?

I have moved to the suburbs for a job, and then was let go after 2 years.  Because I have started my own business in this area simultaniously, I would lose a lot of money if I moved too far away to conduct my business where I currently live.   

What does my responsibility of "actively looking for employment" look like, in order to receive the un-employment check from the job that let me go for no fault on my part?  Does the "must be actively searching"  criteria include trying to obtain a job at Mcdonalds or does it only require a person to apply for applicable jobs in your geographical area of residence, area of education, and expertise?

If it is honest and responsible, I would continue with my current course of action. This would be to collect the salaray from the job I worked (but now only at 60% of the salary) along with doing my side business as I have been over the past two years, until I no longer need the income come 6-8 months from now.

your commuting radius should be within a 45 minute commuting distance or a commuting distance that is generally accepted in your labor market, whichever is greater.
