South Carolina Unemployment Application

You must submit your first, or initial, claim in order for DEW to start the process and determine if your circumstances meet eligibility requirements.

You can file this claim online through the MyBenefits portal, which you can access 24 hours a day anywhere there is Internet service including SC Works centers.

If you are filing a first-time claim with MyBenefits, you must create an account. All you will need to start the account is a valid email address.

The other way you can file is at a local SC Works center.

Applying will go faster if you have the following important information handy:

1. Your Social Security number

2. Your work history for the past 18 months including:

  1. Employers’ business names
  2. Employers’ addresses
  3. Employers’ phone numbers
  4. Your salary for each employer

3. If you are not a U.S. citizen, your alien registration number and documentation.

4. If you served in the military in the past 18 months, DD-214 Form (Member 4 copy).

5. If you are a federal civilian employee, SF-50 or SF-8 Form.

I am an American citizen and have born in the US. I was employed By Safe-Ports Inc. based in South Carolina. I was working on a project for them in Afghanistan. Our contract was completed. I paid unemployment through Safe-Ports to South Carolina. I am now in the Philippines temporarily. I am actively seeing work with American companies working in Afghanistan and Iraq. Can I apply for South Carolina unemployment from here in the Philippines? I am unable to access your unemployment site from here via internet, (Access not available) when I try to get into your site. Can you please assist.
