South Carolina Unemployment Weekly Claims

File your weekly claim to prove you remain eligible for benefits and qualify to get a weekly payment. If you have not heard back from DEW on the status of your initial claim, still file weekly claim so that if you qualify, you will receive back payments. File your weekly claim in one of three ways:

1. Online via the MyBenefits portal– After logging in, answer the questions about whether you worked, earned any gross pay and whether you were able, available and looking for work.

2. In person at an SC Works center near you.

3. Calling TelClaim System.

SC residents can call 1.866.831.1724 from 4:00 a.m. until midnight. Non-residents can call 1.866. 831. 1725. Both lines are toll free, and services are provided free to claimants. You can call to check the status of your payment only Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Filing weekly claims by phone requires:

  • A touch-tone phone
  • Your Social Security number
  • Your Personal Identification Number (PIN)

Note that TelClaim processes weekly claims and provide status updates only for your most recent benefit year.

For some reason today, when I logged into my account to do my weekly claim ending in July 4, 2020, it doesn’t give me the option to do my weekly claim instead it says “File a new claim.” What do I do? I already been filing my claims each week and now it says something different today.

I have been trying to get in touch with DEW SC. 13. I have applied for unemployment and got a letter to keep track of my job searches and weekly responsibilities then I received another letter saying how much I would receive a week. Does this mean I WILL get my benifits? Or am I still waiting on another letter for determination?

    • I posted recently bc I had received letters telling me to keep track of my work searches and what I was eligible to receive weekly. Well I still haven’t heard anything and now when I call it says my benifits are exhausted. What does this mean? I’ve contacted them and responded to any questions they needed answered and now I haven’t received any more phone calls letters or anything.

    • You should be able to draw benefits once you’ve received a formal letter. Your papers might be still under process.

  14. This entire process has been very unclear for me. I am trying to get more information on a denial and appeal. All it states on my portal is “incomplete information” and when I call the number it tells me my benefits are exhausted without explanation and will not give me the option to speak with a person. I just dont understand how or why I am being denied and want to speak to someone who can give me more information. Please help.

    • Well, this is a private forum and we do not have access to your claim information. Please watch out for the “Letter of Determination” through post or email. Alternatively, you can also visit the nearest Unemployment Office in the vicinity for an update.
