I’m needing help. I live out of state and worked in Texas for over 2 years but since I have a different state license I have to prove my identity so I done the ID.me now and actually had to go to the office to get that fixed and now they are still denying me so I tried going back to the same office and no one will help they are saying I need to get ahold of the fraud office to get the to help will I done that no luck. How can I get through to someone to help me get this done?
Brian,
I suggest you follow up with a single person (if possible) until you reach a logical conclusion.
My husband is the only household income and has been unemployed since the start of the pandemic and receiving benefits. At the march 2021 extension, my husband received notice it was extended. Then he received notice that his unemployment was done and we have received no benefits since. Does he need to reapply or are we just going to be homeless and die now? Who does he talk to and what can he do now? I am medically disabled temperature regulated asthmatic and am sick in bed most of the time and have to have assistance even to bathe. I was not aware I had 10 years to apply for disability because no one tells you thsee things. We had hoped I would get better but I only got worse instead and missed the credits expiration time period to apply for disability so now we have no income, no savings, and I will literally die when I lose my breathing medication and access to air temperature below 70f due to my body not distributing oxygen to my cells so this is literally a life and death question I am asking here. We do not even have enough money to last the week due to these benefits being cut off and don’t know what to do or where to turn
I have not received a payment since October 1st. I received letter saying I was overpaid which was not correct. I called numerous times and am always told I do not owe and that they would be contacting me. 7 months later and I have not been contacted. I faxed an appeal on October 4th because the online form was not allow me to file there but it still does not show an appeal. I received an email that said their was an appeal on that date and someone would contact me but that has been over 2 months ago. No one answering phones and been able to assist.
UI benefits services have been hacked. My husband is no longer able to login or request payment. We have called the fraud hotline to no avail. What can we do?
Tracy,
Please consider the option of visiting an office in the vicinity if safe and feasible.
where is the TWC office open in Houston, need to file PUC
Pal,
Please check on Unemployment Office’s website.
My son, who is autistic, was laid off on March 2020 due to Covid-19. We were finally able to fill out the online process 3 or 4 weeks ago. He has received a letter saying his benefit dates are from 5-10-2020 to 5-8-2021. What about mid-March and April? I have tried and tried to call, but cannot get through to a human being.
Debbie,
I am not sure if the claims become retroactive. Please try finding more information on the Unemployment Office website.
Hello,
I have forgotten my login credentials and I am not able to reset my password online. It tells me to call in, however, I am not able to reach anyone. I just need my login credentials reset so that I can file, I have attempted to do for over a week, very frustrating.
Thank you,
Levolina,
Please try finding answers online since there might be limited phone support due to the shortage of staffing. You can use the “Resources” or “FAQs” section of the website.
Hello I was a victim of identity theft and fraudulent unemployment claim in 2018. I have been furloughed due to covi19 and can not file an on line claim. The message says call the 1800 number. I basically need technical support to help with my IF since it is linked to the wrong Social Security number. Is there anything I can do
I’ve Been trying to contact the unemployment office for three days, and I keep getting the same message to do the call volume they are unable to take my call at this time. I’m looking to find out when I can expect, if I can expect my benefits to start. It will be the four weeks as of 15 January. I should have the right to talk to someone directly.
I put in for unemployment and found out I was denied my benefits. I would like to appeal this. What do I need to do. I am also looking for an office close to me and one of the phone numbers I have and tried to call is saying that number is not in service.
Robert,
You will find all the details pertaining to the “Appeals Process” on the department’s website. Here’s the link – https://apps.twc.state.tx.us/
I recently ran out of unemployment benefits. When I called the TWC I was told that I did not have any extended benefits. How do I found out about getting extended benefits?
Kevin,
The E.U.C(Emergency Unemployment Compensation) remains expired. There is no extension available. Please inquire further with the labor authorities in your state by calling them.
I’ve been paid the bare minimum . I make aj income $122k 2019… how do I have the benefits raised …this corrected retroactively . How long does this take as I need help badly.
Rjc
Robin,
I am not sure what you mean. To be precise answers to all your questions, please reach out to the Unemployment Office.
I still have an open claim and just got let go. Reason I am not a good fit one week before my 90 day probation. How can I reopen my claim?
Mary,
Please call the Unemployment Office on the phone numbers provided for further instructions.
I was just laid off and the system keeps rejecting me access to sign up for UI. I try calling and all day it says the volume is too high. Who can I contact to reset my access rights to apply.
Debbie,
Please visit the official website and explore options. Also let us know the “error message” when you make an application.
HELP! I have been locked out of the system. I have been trying to call the office and their phones are not being answered. I am two weeks overdue for my last check, because I was not able to enter the system. Then, when it was working, it was “under maintenance.” Now, because I could not report my work seeking efforts, I am locked out!!!! I have been going to school, have had many interviews, and have never stopped looking for work! HELP how do I reach someone?
Doreen,
If the phone lines are busy, please try the online (internet) claims system for hassle free management of claims. Here is the link – https://www.twc.state.tx.us/jobseekers/unemployment-benefits-services
I had benefits last year and stopped requesting payment in September because I started a new job. I was laid off in January and went to request payment again but because it’s been more than 3 weeks I had to re apply for benefits. When I went to do so online I was given a message that says I could only be helped over the phone with a number to call. I’ve called every day several times a day since January to only reach the recorded message saying they can’t take my call. Two times I reached an actual person and they tried to put me through and both times the call suddenly ended. I’ve tried so many different number and emails and requests for call backs that I don’t know what to do anymore. Please help!
Currently on unemployment. Took job as school bus driver. This is classified as part time job. I just request my current payment and declared earnings as required. I haven’t gotten paid though and won’t until September 15th. Will I be eligible for my unemployment until the first paycheck?
Angela,
I am guessing you should be. Please call the Claims Center for clarification.
When I call the 800-939-6631 # I always get “due to the call volume we can’t answer your call at this time”. I call 20 times a day… If I try to apply for unemployment online it says I must call due to my last work day was July 29 2016 which is more than a year. Should I just put Aug 1 2016 as my last work date online so that I can start my new claim?
MY BOYFRIEND IS LAID OFF ALMOST 3 MONTHS DUE TO LACK OF WORK. HE CAN’T GET THRU TO UNEMPLOYEMENT BECAUSE THE PHONE LINE IS ALWAYS, ALWAYS, BUSY DUE TO HIGH VOLUME. HE CAN’T GO ON LINE BECAUSE HE USE TO LIVE IN ANOTHER STATE. WHICH HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR AGO. HOW CAN HE APPLY FOR UNEMPLOYEMENT? PLEASE ADVISE.
THANK YOU
Jessica,
Your boyfriend can apply for and manage claims on the internet without human intervention. Please share the link below.

Mike,
Firstly, UI benefits are only provided to those who’ve had employment and earnings in the last 4-5 calendar quarters. If you’re trying to apply, you can also do so on the official website of the Unemployment Agency.
I took a contract job and stopped filing for unemployment. Now that this job is ending, can I just start filing for unemployment again as part of my last claim?
Contract jobs are generally not eligible. Please call the Unemployment Office for further details.
does my severance package effect my UI
Yes, it does. You will be able to apply for UI benefits after the payout is over.
I was an Operations Supervisor at a Staples. I was closing the store and accidently left the key to the store in the Copy and Print Kiosk. The key was recovered by the District Manager that same night, and no harm was done, but the company deemed it a safety violation and terminated me. Am I eligible to receive unemployment benefits?
Well, this is a sensitive case. Generally, UI benefits are only available to those who lose their job due to involuntary reasons.
Please call the Unemployment Office in your state to check eligibility and apply accordingly.
I need to quit my job. It does not pay what I was told it would pay, i was offered a management position and continue to do management type work even though I refused the position because they could not compensate me for the added responsibilities. Last but not least, i am in constant pain from the physical demands. Does unemployment consider these legitimate reasons to quit?
To an extent, they can be considered.
You may speak further with the Unemployment Office in your state to confirm eligibility.
