  1. I filed an AZ UI claim on 6/30/2022. I have not received any payment nor any communication, and my status online says “Non Payment for Active Issue.” I don’t have any issues. I have tried to call UI 8 times. Each time, I am on hold for 90+ minutes and no one every answers.

    • I know what you mean. I applied for a UI claim when I lost my job on 6/29. I applied on 7/8. Still to this day I never got a penny. I ended up getting a job just recently and had to sell personal belongings since I never got anything so I had to stop applying which didn’t make a difference because it’s impossible to get anything anyway. I still haven’t gotten anything and weeks later still show as “active issues”. They sent me a debit card early July which is a joke because why send a card if you’re not going to give any money. I called many times like you and waited on hold for 60+ minutes 3 times and hung up. I finally waited over 2 hours on hold and got someone. Asked them why it shows active issues. She said it’d get taken care of and just to keep filing. First time I’ve ever had to apply for it. Have a new born at home and a stay at home wife. Think of the stress people go through and use this as a life line. Depending on the state for anything is a joke. Oh but if they want something from you expect to give it immediately!

    • Hi, there – if you haven’t received any follow-up documentation since filing your claim, and you haven’t been able to get through by phone, you can also check the status of your claim via email. Make sure to use “Documents Not Received by Mail” for the subject. You should be able to reach a UI client advocate at

  2. Tried four times to input job search info into system.
Each time, after seven entries, it goes to the next page and tells me I did not put in enough entries.
I try to go back, and it goes out of the system altogther.

I want to put my 16 job searches in and it won’t let me,.

  3. I am on two different phones right now and their automated system is in sync and sounds EXSACTLY the same it makes you wonder maybe fraud had nothing to do with the individuals applying maybe there is fraud being committed within the system. I can’t count how many time I have submited my documents within the system and with the id me app and got no where just right back around in a circle it’s beyond messed up

    • I am in the exact same situation. It’s almost as if the people on the other end are purposely making me wait for over 6 months now. I’ve submitted every kind of document in addition to IDme you can think of just to be brushed off.

      • I was called back by a very helpful PUA AZ DES support staff member, her number is:
877-600-2722 Her Message Hi, Mr. Henry this is Renee with CVS at week. Our phone just disconnected so I was calling you back. I’ll try calling one more time to see if you answer but I don’t know what happened with phone call so I was just calling you back. Okay. Give me a call or call back when you get this message or when your best to meet you today. Thank you.
My Phone call was dropped as I spoke to the PUA AZDES call center and this person called me back. That has never ever happened! And she had full access to the PUA site was this, is this a lagit return call?

  4. Last thing i was collecting partial unemployment prior to being let go. Every week my unemployment benefits where on time with no problems. I dont understand now that i was let go im having such issues with my unemployment

  5. This number doesn’t connect you to a real person. Its all automated and hangs up on you, when its done talking to you.

I have been waiting 8 weeks for my benefits. The only way I am able to contact anyone at des is to drive 30 mins drop my name, s.s.# and phone number in a box on a piece of paper. Then i have to wait 5 to 7 days for a rep to call me back. Im running out of my savings and don’t know what to do. There’s no way to get a cash loan because i don’t have a job! This system is pathetic. Something needs to be done. 8 weeks is a long time to have to wait.

    • Tima,

The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. Please visit the website to find the answers.

  6. I tested positive for Covid June 20th and filed for unemployment and manias said they would approve my claim. When I file my weekly claims it keeps telling me that I voluntarily quit. I have received several letters that I fax back in order to correct the issue and have not heard anything. I can’t get through to the center and have money and am very ill. Please help me!

    • Christina,

I can understand your situation. There will be a delay considering the number of applications that are being processed. Please continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals until payments normalize.

      Wishing you a speedy recovery!

  7. I called to check if my benefits were in and it says my card is cancelled i checked online and my money fid not go in i been trying to get ahold of someone to speak to but no luck i know i still am supposed to be recieving my uneployment i just want to know whats the issue

    • If your card was canceled u may have been thrown in thel oop with the cases being investigated for fraud. Send a picture of yourself holding your state issued id along with a picture of your state id to the fraud department. Let them know that you stopped receiving benefits and your card was canceled but that you have attached proof of identity for their review. The email address is on the homepage of the pandemic unemployment assistance portal.

    • Armando,

I can understand your situation. There will be a delay considering the number of applications that are being processed. Please continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals until payments normalize.

    • Michael,

You should be able to if you’re able and available for work. Please consider applying and declare your SSI income at the time of application.

  8. I started working at a day care center on 8/22/16. At the start of employment, I was informed that in the summer (May – Aug) we will not receive our 40 hrs due to low children count. I was also informed that we will at least get 20 hrs per week. As of 5/31/17, I have only received 12 – 14 hrs week (if that). My hours get less as each week goes by and management has hired new employees that, at this time, are getting 40 hrs a week. Can I collect unemployment to make up for the hours that I am losing?

    • I have tried and tried to get thru to the call centers… It’s always full no matter when I call. It’s been two weeks that I have been calling. So how can you get through to ask questions when you can never get through? it’s very frustrating you call on a day that you’re supposed to because of the number ending of your ss#… It doesn’t matter I have been waiting close to one month and still have no information or money coming in you email them and you get a general apply and nobody ever emailed you back

      • Call 1-877-600-2722…It may take 2 to 4 times to get this down and I promise you will get through.. When you dial the number as soon as you hear her talk dial 212414 then your Social then 1 before she talks press 5,It took some time to figure out how to actually get the claims dept and I did, I could call and get the claims dept 20 times a day if I wanted to.. Good luck I’m in the waiting boat like you, Gas turned off, Water electric gets cut off monday

        • I have been waiting 15 weeks for 8 weeks of PUA AND EVERYTIME I call they say well it is with a adjudication agent and they will get it done in the order it came in? 16 weeks over $3000 they owe me how is there no management or superiors that can fix the issue? This is ridiculous any recommendations

        • Could you call for me?? Lol I have tried 10 times and it just says “That is an invalid option”

        • Shawna,

I can understand your situation. There will be a delay considering the number of applications that are being processed. Please continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals until payments normalize.

      • Crystle,

I can understand your situation. There will be a delay considering the number of applications that are being processed. Please continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals until payments normalize.

        • I’m owed 33 weeks of benefits from the pua unemployment insurance and I have received nothing and its says in progress. Like what’s going on?

        • Sherry,

I can understand your situation. There will be a delay considering the number of applications that are being processed. Please continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals.

There will be a delay considering the number of pending applications. Please continue chasing at regular intervals.

  9. Hello! I started a temp job for a week an 2 days til they let me go! I didn’t report that I started working on Aug 1st my first day cause I havnt started when I did my claim on July 30th(sunday). So my account is going on 6 weeks of pending and I’m still til this day doing my claims. But I’m confused cause the letter I recieved in Sept 20th, stated it’s considered an getting me for fraud but get it still allows me to do my claim (today on sept25th) and back in Aug my remaing funds to claim was over $1,000 an now it’s showing over $2,000??? Not only that.. when I spoke to someone a few weeks back this whole issue was for dates Aug1-Aug-9th the days I only worked but my letter shows aug6th -13th??? Don’t know if I need to contact corprate office cause I’m a month behind on bills!!!! Or appeal this an it will take longer.

  10. My 26 weeks of benefits with the state of Ohio just ran out. I would like to file for an extension but have relocated and am looking for work in AZ. Do I file extension in Ohio or AZ?

    • The E.U.C(Emergency Unemployment Compensation) remains expired. There is no extension available. Please inquire further with the labor authorities in your state by calling them.

  11. hello. while i filed my first claim i did not realize I needed to provide an amount of my severance, which I will not receive until Thursday 05/12/2016. I still can only send so much of the info that is to be returned because of this issue. I have also sent emails to two separate offices…the UI call center and UI administration to let them know of the issue. should i be afraid of being penalized for my mistake???

    • Wait for their response. You don’t have to be afraid. If they question, let them know it was an error and not intentional.

    • If you quit the job voluntarily to move to another state, you will not qualify. Otherwise, you can file from the state where you last worked.

  12. Am I eligible to receive unemployment if I am not receiving social security. If I am working enough to meet the required amount of time and I loose my job at no fault of my own?

    • You can be eligible to apply for Unemployment Insurance if you lost the job due to no fault of yours.

      Please consider applying.

  13. I have active issues on my claim. I am still filing my weekly claims. After issues are resolved will I paid for all these weeks that there was an active issue or dies it just start from the time the issues are resolved

    • Please inquire further with the labor authorities in your state.

I am guessing, you should be paid for the disputed weeks.

  14. I filled my claim going on 5 weeks ago, I have attempted to call the customer service line on my designated day and on Friday I call at the exact time they open and then periodically threw the day with no luck it says they are experiencing high call volume and hangs up on me. One time I stayed on hold for 45 min and then was told they were experiencing high call volume and hung up. I have since revived a letter stating it needed the name of the company I was discharged from and their information and my last date of employment. I received a second letter along with that one stating they need info regarding my employment after a disqualification it doesn’t give me refference to when. I am assuming it is this UI claim but not sure. I need help and clarification if I can not talk to a cust service rep where can I go to get help. I want to resolve this ASAP. Please give me some direction.

    • Unfortunately,we do not have access to the claims system to give you an update.

Both letters look like are in relation to the UI claim filed. Try calling them during off peak hours.

  15. I was wondering how to find out about the status of a couple of claims former employees filed. We as the employer contested the claims , but have not heard anything about the decision made. Any help? Thanks!

  16. Hi. I opened my unemployment case on December 26, 2013 they sent me a letter asking for me to fax information about my last employer. I faxed it several times but it wouldnt go through with the numbers they provided. It finally went through before the deadline but they never replied or mailed me anything. Point is that I wrote them on March this year to the UI Call Center the lady said that I just needed to reopen my case because it was “dormant”. Since then I have been filing my weekly claims they all say “active issues” but when I try to ask them they dont give me an explanation. I was told by the same lady I would have an answer by April 19 but I have had no luck. Im now on my 5th week with no payments and no explanations about what the active issues are. What should I do?
    Thank you.

    • Please continue following up by phone on status. If you’re not getting the right answer, insist on speaking to a supervisor.

  17. I have called the number provided, the number has yet to allow the other end to connect. Just like a fax machine, it hangs up. I have been waiting for a month for unemployment as I AM looking for another job.

I have been provided a debit card and told that tuesday was the day I know the results, its after tuesday and i have yet to get ahold of anyone and to know the decision made. Who do I call and how?!

  18. Hi there
I was approved for unemployment and began receiving my checks. I started a temp job and reported the earnings and then the unemployment was frozen with active issues – return to work… I filled out the form proving that I am indeed not back to work as the job ended on march 31st when the ACA ended (I was a temporary canvasser for it). Now it’s been 3 weeks and still haven’t heard anything. Been filing every week still… I am about to lose my car and my house..

  19. worked for a company for 7 till i was terminated. Have been receiving benefits till just today now it says “active issues” another person fired at the same time who was filing for ue has the same issue. Can the employer go back and raise a stink after you have been awarded benefits?

    • Generally, they are contacted whilst your initial claim is being processed.

If you do not find this justified, please ask for an adjudicator who can intervene and find out facts. You can find more information on the AZ labor dept website.

  20. I was fired from my job Nov 12th for missing work due to my daughter having an allergic reaction to a scorpion sting and missing work while she was in ICE for over a week. I applied for unemployment on that very day and have returned any mail received from them completed. I have also been filing my weekly claims as told to do so. It’s almost 8 weeks and I’ve received no calls, or payments. I have called unemployment 187 times and I can’t even get to the point where I’m waiting in there call que. I’m broke. I don’t know what to do. Can you suggest anything?

  21. Cannot get through 1-877-600-2722 number to find out what is the unresolved issue in getting my benefits. Keep filing weekly claims and nothing and are these claims retroactive? Our family needs this resolved. And Why can we not speak with a live agent to get this resolved

  22. I spent the majority of today calling your number 1-877-600-2722 without any luck of getting through. I just tried again now at 9:41 pm and the line is still busy. Is there another number that “works”? I would like to have assistance filling out the application rather than doing it online. Please respond as soon as possible.

    • The state of Arizona Unemployment Insurance department is the most dysfunctional area of government. I’ve tried for 2 days to file online and keep getting an error message. So you try to call, WRONG. You can’t get through. The phone number(s) are an absolute joke! You can never talk to a human being. Hey Arizona politicians….why not hire some more people to answer the phones and put us unemployed back to work!!!

  23. I work for MI Windows and Doors, I need to change the name on our account when our employees call in to open unemployment claims? How do I go about getting this changed?

  24. I applied for unemployment after I was fired from my job on Aug. 1. Later, when I checked my account to see when I would be getting payment, it said I had “active issues.” When I tried to call, it made me sit through five minutes of menus each time until finally it would announce that there was too high a volume of calls and hang up on me. I tried this for two hours before giving up and emailing. The reply I got said that my employer had claimed to have paid me for 140 vacation hours on my last check, but they didn’t. They paid me for 34. Gloria told me she would contact my former employer for more information, and asked me to fax in my last paycheck stub for verification. She said she would hear back from them within 24-48 hours, but that I wouldn’t hear back from her. This does not help. It’s three days later, I have bills to pay, cars to gas up so I can job hunt, nothing has changed, and I STILL can’t get through on the phone. I have sent in my last paycheck stub, which clearly shows that I did NOT get a huge vacation windfall. What do I need to do to get my unemployment benefits as quickly as possible so I can get on with my life? Thank you.

    • I am sure your claim is being worked on. Keep filing for benefits and payments will be released when unemployment has been able to make a determination – which they do whether or not they hear from the employer – if the employer does not respond in time, the decision is based on the information the unemployment office has – your pay stub.

  25. i try to do my weekly clams sunday and monday would not let me in . it tilling me http.503 the servicw is unavailable

  26. I was hired by Afni and I failed a test now they will terminate me. Can I receive unemployment?

    • Hi Yesika,

You may be able to receive unemployment benefits. Please check for other eligibility requirements and apply. In the mean while, you can start you work search process.
