Is there a time limit on when you must file?

My company is closing in a couple of months and laying everyone off. I plan on enrolling in a foreign language immersion program abroad for a few months and beginning my unemployment claim when I return and begin looking for a new job. Is there a certain time frame between when you lose your job and when you MUST file your claim...or can you file it any time?

You must only apply when you're actively looking for a job(after you return from your foreign language course abroad).

You can file anytime, the sooner its better. Please call the customer service of the labor dept in your state to confirm if there is a time frame.
