Florida Unemployment Phone Number

The Florida Department of Labor, formally called the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation, is the organization you need to get in touch to make a labor complaint or file for jobless benefits. The State of Florida makes contacting the agency simple, and there are numerous ways to do so.

Contact the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation by telephone by calling 1-833-FL-APPLY (1-833-352-7759). The phones at the Florida unemployment office answer from Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM until 6:30 PM EST. You will first be connected to the Interactive Voice Response system. Follow the menu choices to connect to the RA Hotline during normal hours. 

Be set for long waits as lots of people are trying to do the same thing that you are. Be serene and courteous to the person you get connected to and you will get a lot more help. The staffers on the other line are over-worked and are everything possible they can to assist all of the people that are contacting them.

When you call the Florida unemployment phone number, ensure that you have:

  • Social security number,
  • Dates of employment
  • Names and addresses of your employers,
  • Gross earnings, and your
  • Driver’s license number

You will also need a pen and paper to write down your claim number and any other relevant details.

  2. I have been waiting on a call back for 3 days. I finally get ahold of someone and they are rude as ever and don’t want or care to help. I got cold call transferred to a manager supposedly but instead was sent to a full mailbox. This is a disgrace on Florida’s part. The operator was Roanna, operator number 5875.

      Florida is dead-last in providing support for unemployment claims. They are overwhelmed and poorly trained, and clearly poorly managed. “Roanna” needs better training but the state of FL refuses to fund the unemployment office sufficiently. There are political reasons for this but suffice to say the state isn’t supportive of the right to get unemployment.

      Continue calling and contact your state and federal representative — they are supposed to work for you.

  3. I have been receiving letters in the mail claiming that I have received an overpayment?…but I have not received anything since the start of the pandemic. With all these questions I have and days of trying to reach out to an operator for assistance while getting the same message how am I supposed to go through with this. I understand there are long lines and what not but seriously not even having a call back service or anything? I need help!

  4. I need my 1099-G. The website just twirls and twirls and does not accept my information. I need to file my federal taxes and this form is being withheld by the State of Florida. NOthing but issues with this. Isn’t it a federal offense to withhold required filing forms?

They called me, about missed payments spent an hour on phone giving same info i had submitted then they denied me, then i called to appeal – it’s criminal what shutting down the country has done to honest working citizens- Yet the politicians have not been affected at all. I am still waiting for 9 weeks back pay since shut down!

My benefits ran out in June, now that I am trying to log back in to my account to print the tax form out to file my taxes it says I am locked out of my account and need to go through steps to re-apply. I don’t need to re-apply for benefits all I need is the tax form. Last years you had to print it yourself. I should hope they intend to mail it out considering they are refusing to let people into their account and refuse to answer the phone.

  6. Sadly I was let go from my Job of (3yrs) 10/4/2021 went and filed unemployment 10/7 and got notice I’ve been receiving benefits since 3/2021. Unfortunately, that’s a lie someone has used my social security number and receiving benefits. I have called the 1-800-204-2418 number and got a call back today finally but she wasn’t able to help me because my account is locked she advised me to call another department (FIRRE) to assist but I’ve called 15x no one answers just the machine to tell me they too busy and hang up. This is truly frustrating that someone has been receiving benefits and I’m not able to get this situation squared away because the system the have designed is no help.

    I am writing this because I applied for the PUA assistance program and in my connect home page it says (Your claim has a pending issue awaiting an adjudication determination. Please allow time for the review to be completed and continue requesting benefits until a determination is issued to you. Please review our FAQ or PUA Handbook for more information.) It has been like that for 2 months now and it does not let me request benefits or anything else. In the determination, it says I am eligible and that it is active however that message still stands. I could not contact anyone over the phone so I am writing this email. It is an emergency for me as I am still unemployed and could not find work yet. Please get back to me with some information if need to do anything else or where does my application stands as of now as I am in desperate need. Please and thank you.

  8. I’m having the same issue. I thought it was just me. I am stressed because I have no funds in the bank.
    It first started that my application was pending, and to keep claiming benefits (even if it was 0.00 dollars) Then I got like a message w/i the app it’s self stating I need to verify via id me. I did. I got sick with COVID and it took me 3 or 4 weeks to get the strength to log back in. When I loge back in, it said my account was locked. So I clicked on the ID Me and verified myself again. 3 days later, I verified my self for the 3rd time. Three days later I followed the prompt to where it says click here if you verified and your account is still locked. That was like 3 or 4 weeks ago. Still nothing. I am disabled, waiting on my verdict, and I need this income. I literally have no income.
    How do I email IDme?
    How do I get in contact with some one to help? has anyone had any luck.
    I have saved the ID Me verification emails.
    I am having a breakdown because of lack of funds.
    Any advice/solutions towards this issue, how to get in contact with someone, how to email about this problem? Is there a customer chat? how are you handling the stress? Just any advise at all.

  9. Jeff I see that you have quite a few times recommended visiting an office. How do I find the closest office to me? I live in Miami and it is my understanding that there is only one office in Tallahassee which is an 8 hour drive with no guarantees of my pending status being resolved.

I do not understand how they can consistently state that the calls are important to them, yet no one has been able to get through to a live-person (which is needed to solve a lot of these cases) in months. Please miss me with that call-center layoff bull dookie because the government ALWAYS puts OUR money where they see fit. I put into unemployment for the last 20 years, busting my behind in customer service. How do YOU PEOPLE expect us to go back to work when some have had funds withheld for months. It is a shame people have to go through that. I am trying to go back to work now, but HHHOOOWWWW when I haave received EARNED said benefits in months, and I nned work clothes, work shoes, after school care for my children, TRANSPORTATION TO WORK. Not to mention as soon as I get my check, you people cut off food stamps, medicaid, and whatever other little push in the right direction you people offer!! Htf is a person suppose to do that, huh? I have called the 1-800-204-2418 number 137 times in the last 3 days and always get the recording ‘we are receiving higher than normal calls – if you need immediate assistance go to the website’ I have called first thing in the morning, mid day, and end of day and cannot get through. My claim status has changed to ‘suspended’ and I just want to know exactly what that means. Can anyone help me??? Thank you

  12. When is it time to get a lawyer? I have been waiting since May for them to unlock my account and send me my back pay from January 2021. After ID me allowed someone else to use my SS# and account to get my benefits. I call everyday 10 times or more no one answers just the machine to tell me they too busy and hang up. I emailed and faxed them too. I’m losing everything. Food stamps office never has this problem plus they work as many cases or more and work harder to help.

      • So sorry. I’m in the same boat. I used to be one of the bilingual customer reps they fired due to a cut on funds to the Customer Service department. It was hell. I hated the job. Did it for 1 year. Now, 5 months locked out of my account. Once you get hold of a rep, you will have to wait another 3 months to get it unlocked. It is hell. Don’t expect the money. Is all part of the Plandemic. Stay strong. Covid won’t kill you. The government will. They are the real terrorist.

I haven’t got benefits since April 2021… after being told I had to go through ID.ME I did but because I was locked out my acct couldn’t get in to my acct to the link the 2 together. Call every day even have RA email proof from submitting request on line. Please if you find a lawyer share the info so that I may contact as well. I went from receiving benefits to someone tried to get benefits in my name to being locked out. ( that info I got only from going into an office but was told they no longer have the power to help.

      Until last week when they changed to som ID thing which I never seen before usually I just go onto the site, and the ID system is messed up you can’t get anyone on the phone, never use to have these problems, no matter what time you call early morning or afternoon they always busy on the phone, now please from 8:30 in the morning til 5 pm, t u r knownwhat they’re doing holding up people benefits, but trust when things turn for the worse “GOD” will have mercy on us, and they will suffer whoever have a hand in mistreating people about their benefits, and trust it won’t be too much longer, just do your best stocking up on food and water , anything you have to suffer til GOD bring you help, trust they will suffer 3 times as worse that’s in the word of God, hold on help is on the way, most these people are agents of the devil and love mistreating people when it cost them nothing.

      • Jess the only office is in Tallahassee Florida for the whole entire state which depending where you are most of us being from Miami Homestead area you’re talking about a 4-5 Hour Drive not knowing if they’ll allow u into the building because no where on their website does it have a way to make an appointment so what’s your next helpful line going to be because a lot of people are in need and losing their homes and valuables. So, we would like to know what we can do about it since we can’t get anybody human on the phone and there’s no place for us to go except for Tallahassee the only office

      • The only office in the whole state of Florida is in bfe Tallahassee when most of the population lives at the other end of the map by Miami and the keys….so 4 hours of drive one way…. That’s what your advice is??

      • The state is protecting the governor because he wants to become president. I don’t plan on voting for him. He doesn’t care if you get your unemployment or not. The DEO was set up to fail. I am locked out and stopped calling as they are dropping calls. The only way you will get your money is to sue, I’m sorry to say.

  13. I submitted my claim and have not heard anything. The status is showing as pending. I tried going online to all sites provided and no help at all. I also tried calling to no avail. I was laid off in May and am still waiting for my unemployment benefit. I did speak to someone in the local office, and they said that they can’t help with the claim. This is very frustrating that we work so hard, and this is what we are paid with. Can you assist in any way? I see that they keep saying keep trying the phone or office and that they are a shortage of staff, but you must consider what we as Americans are going through just to get unemployment benefits. The least that they can do is respond with the status.

  14. Deo is set up to frustrate and aggravate people to the point that they want to give up. Same situation here. Not paid in weeks. First time I’ve been unemployed since 1996 and the State can’t help a person? Luckily I just started work this week. Had I not, my kids and me wouldn’t have a place to live come next month. It’s crazy. You get redirected on the website when you click on the “pending” monetary section. It says to close out the browser and sign back in. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. NO one answers the emails. The hotline just hangs up on you without an option to even leave a message. Very sad.

I would just like someone to help me I filed all the way back in March of the Year prior when the covid first came out I stayed up today all the way up to 7 weeks ago and I have never received one penny or payment I’ve never received any paperwork I’ve never received any emails it says my case is open it doesn’t say that I have to do anything but to keep filing every two weeks which I had up to 7 weeks ago I’ve never been able to reach anybody on the phone and I have never received any pain what can I do can someone please help me?

        • Jeff my account says exhausted active, 1100 in balance waiting to h paid to me. The last check I was able to claim was sept 4th. Since then I’ve called 4 different numbers for the DEO in Florida – All to finally have the robot say” you have opted to speak to a representative” then a recording comes on, tells us there’s a high call volume and wait times are going to be long & then instantly hangs up!!! For the past 3 weeks I’ve called 10x each day each number and I have the phone logs to prove this !!!! I’ve posted to their helpline for a call back, received a call I missed at 7pm !!! Not even their usual hours and now I can’t resubmit for them to call me back because it still pending a call back that I’ve been waiting for. Patiently answering every damn phone call and it’s always a telemarketer or my car warranty. There isn’t away to make an appointment to their office and every other office they refer you to as “their office” is in fact a career source – I’ve driven to every one in south Florida – it’s only career source offices. When u arrive they tell you they have nothing to do with DEO or the connect website. Then they give u a number that is the the same 2 out of the 4 numbers I’ve been calling all month long. So what do I do ?????????? Please!!

  17. What is another way to contact DEO because this unemployment situation is ridiculous. I applied back in April. ITS CURRENTLY JULY AND 3 MONTHS LATER AND I STILL HAVEN’T RECEIVED A SINGLE PAYMENT!! The monetary status STILL says pending. The representative supposedly “expedited” my case, but if they did THEN WHY AM I STILL WAITING 3 MONTHS. Who ever Jeff is, I don’t want the answer “they are trying the best they can.” “Go to the website and visit our FAQs sections.” Well Jeff, I hate to break it to you but your website DOES NOT have answers to my questions.   19. My account shows I am disqualified after an appeal decision was made regarding an overpayment. Previous rep confirmed there was no real disqualification as it doesn’t pop up in her system. Was supposed to receive a call back after her supervisor investigated…yet to receive that call and I can never get through on the phone line then there is nothing in the help forums can actually help me. I am beyond over the unemployment office. Great job Florida….great job! Thanks for helping me move closer to becoming homeless as I can’t even pay my mortgage now. Florida’s system has screwed me once again.

  20. Im trying to enter unemployment on 7/16/2021 and it telling me my account is locked. The last time this happened my account was hacked and i missed 3 payments that was sent that i have not yet received from the months of march 3/9/2021 and 2 payments on 3/19/2021. As of now im locked out talking bout to many attempts. I think if im locked out and you all are in the process of sending me money i will not recieve it again if my account is change once i get back in. I have called for 3 months now and get no answer. I have reported several times i have not been paided and whether unemployment has expired i would like what needs to b reimburse to me. Thank

    • Im dealing with the same thing. Ive logged in my account on 07/22/2021 so i could claim my weeks just to log back in and says my account is locked (which i know i didnt try to attempt 3 times). Verified through id.me twice and said to wait 3 business days just for my account to still be locked?. Did you get any responses on how to fix this?

        I had the same issue last thursday when I tried to claim my weeks. I’ve tried every since then to get someone on the phone to get my account fixed, but that’s a lost cause. I have 3 numbers I have been trying to call on…of course nothing. Have yo gotten anywhere? I know I need that little bit of money for my bills. Lights will be shut off on Friday if I don’t get this fixed!!!!

I have tried logging in multiple if times however it no matter what or how I tried logging in it keeps saying that I have exceeded my logs in everytime I tried resetting my password it doesnt even take me to the page to be able to reset it . I tried calling deo Unemployment and all my intended call drops im not able to reach noone or get noone on the phone to help me. I have to report my weeks and is really frustrating not to be able to get someone on the phone nor to be able to get in my account to request my weeks

        • The system is broken. It locked me out and I only made 1 attempt to log on and i know my information was right. Now it does not give me the option to pick forgot password. When I try it kicks me back to the main page. Doed not give me the option to change password or send email or anything. so the help link was useless.

      • Hi – I was recently sent 3 emails to fill out for re-employment. I’m self employed (owner of a developing world international tour company, with no business yet, but hopefully soon). The e-mails said I could list 5 customers I’d reached out about future travel. I got their permission to list them and asked if they were ready to travel yet. They all said no, not yet – therefore I listed them as work not available (or whatever the form said). I submitted all of them before the deadline. I was paid for one week of the 3 I submitted, but not the other 2 since I just saw they said “disqualified”. Huh? I got the same 3 e-mails the day after I submitted them, thinking it was an error, since when I submitted each one it always said “thank you & it was being processed”. Where did the other 2 go & now I’ve lost 2 weeks pay + the $300 extra? No one answers the phone to check on my account to see what happened. How do I talk with someone or appeal? – Susan

  21. Does anyone know how to get a live representative that can help me fix my claim? I’ve been calling both numbers for the past month only to get hung up on and filled out the help center request probably 20 times to not get a call or email. Anyone know how??

      • Mailbox is full ? I have been locked out. The last week I claimed was ending 7/3. Now suddenly my account has unlocked a months bf a half later and there are 0 weeks left to claim and a single mother of 3 that can’t pay the bills. The website, emails, and faq’s lead to nowhere. And I’ve dialed any number I can find, including this one, none even allow to hold or leave a message. There’s no mass answer either to let us know what is going on. It’s happening to many many people so why can’t there be an update to everyone in the news or mass email or anything?!?

  22. Jeff, That is weird. I posted TWO comments today 7-12-20. The first I’ll admit was a bit snarky as I had just “Finally ” gotten through to DEO after a month and was on hold for 4 hours only to be “Picked up, and Hung up”
    Anyway, in reading down I saw you might be an employee. I asked what do I do as I haven’t been paid in almost 4 weeks.
    All the site says is “HOLD” I asked you for advice.
    Now, why would my Tw comments be “Taken Down” First (?Maybe? ) I mean I wasn’t really rude, just complained that Scott took away millions, and in over a year it has not gotten any better.
    So Ill ask again. Ant advice on what to do, or who to contact when it says hold.
    Don’t say Call because I so lucked out this AM.
    If you call at 7:30 and go through the prompts it’s about 7:32. At that point, they say something like
    “All of our operators are busy right now and can not take any calls, pls try back tomorrow.”
    Not even a Callback option.
    So today and for weeks I start the process at about 7:2 and if I’m just a tad late I get the message.
    Or, if a tad early I have to listen to all the prompts only to be told, “Our hours of operation are 7:30 AM till 5 PM., well now I’m cooked. If I go through the game again it’s 7:32 at least.
    But today I must have timed it just right. As I got to the end it said “Hold for next operator” WOW! I held all right.
    4 Hours and then someone just picked it up. (Listen I know when a phone is picked up off the line and then hung up.
    Maybe an accident, but It was frustrating. ) Now I post comments and their being deleted?
    I give up.
    We are adults Jeff and you folks are acting like children deleting my comments. I am and have taken “Screen shots” so delete away. My atty will have a good case eventually.

  23. I’m 16 and it won’t let me apply if you can legally work at 16 you should legally be able to apply without being 18 this is bs no one is answering the phone and you can’t even leave a voice mail to get a call back I have been trying to get ahold of them for 2 weeks now

  24. I agree 100% it is ridiculous. I received a letter threatening me that i didn’t claim.one week. Meanwhile when I called and spoke with gentlemen he told me I didn’t need to claim that week and the next time I call i need t will need to do it. He told ime to save the information for next time. Then.on 7/5/21 I get letter asking me why haven’t claim those weeks and don’t do it before 6/29 I could lose unemployment. I.have called them 30 times yesterday and got recording saying everyone is busy. Then today I call career center and they give me a new number and extension .Called twice and left detail message and nothing. Unbelievable I even called wink news. Joan Balevre

  28. I’m so sick of this unemployment website ,, I stand in line for 3 hours just to keep getting kicked out. When I try to claim my weeks it won’t accept it then I get emails saying that I CAN GET PENTALIZED for yall crappy website doing whatever it wants. You call every number listed to be on the phone all day until they close to not get an answer. I’m over it yall need to get some better organization or more employees its not fair to us !

      • How do I request my benefits when idme has screwed up my account because of some reason there is few emails that I have never used or heard of under my name? So now I have to wait until forever idme get back with me so I can prove my identity and who I am but Florida DEO says I’m verified with them and I still can’t get into my account because of idme, so this is not right.     • I feel your pain my account has been locked since may 15th and I have called every number even emailed idme and it still locked they said they are gonna give my information to someone who can unlock it is still hasn’t been unlocked you can’t get hold of anyone and when u do they call u back after office had closed they need to hurry up and unlock our accounts because we all have bills to pay this is ridiculous

        • I’m so depressed. I can’t pay for anything I need for me and my grandkids. I can’t work because of my work because I hurt my arm. I have worked since I was 15. I cry every day. I can’t believe I can’t get through to talk to someone and get paid for my weeks. They owe me from January. I hope I don’t loss the house too. I hope my arm heals soon so I can find work because my government doesn’t care.

      • RJeff, there are no one helping. I’ve been calling for 3 weeks. I finally get to the point where it’s going to put someone on the phone and it hangs up on me. The closest customer service center is in Tallahassee. I live in homestead !!! There are know other offices in Florida. I’ve called every number, exhausted every option on the phone menu, even the employee options I used!!!!!! when finally it’s going to transfer the call there’s a recording of a man saying something about higher call volumes and than hangs up. I have the phone records 10+x I call everyday since 9/4/2021
        3 weeks without the ability to claim benefits and I still have a balance of 2 thousand dollars available for me to claim and claims don’t end until a zero balance why is this happening to me !!!! ????? Why can’t I get anyone on the phone??? Why can’t I be put on hold rather than the auto-hang up ????!!!!!!

        @Jeff, for a year I tried to call ur dam office, its been the same message, then click. I’ve called every half hour, nothing. This is absolutely ctao, and you knoe it.

  30. There is no one, NO ONE answering this number. All I keep getting is a recording!!! I have called over 100 times and the same recording. I started calling at 8:30 every day for 2, 3, 4 hours and I’m getting nothing. I am trying to be as patient as possible but this is absolutely ridiculous. Sometimes all I hear is air and no one says anything. There has to be a better way to get these accounts unlocked. There just has to be! You should see my call log.

  31. I went without a single payment for over 2 months till I finally got through with Senator Marco Rubio’s help. Call his office, they have a plan in place to help. But now that I’m paid up and verified multiple times, they keep locking my account preventing me from claiming my weeks. I was supposed to claim over a week ago and it ‘s still locked and cant get a single live human on the line. I’ve already reached out to the Senator’s office once again cuz this is bull. BIG TIME BULL-ISH

I’ve worked for 30 years without asking for any help and paid my taxes and charity consistently, however I have met people lately that are not Americans and haven’t never worked in this country. So come they don’t have to wait, and receive all the benefits in the world, but one like myself devoted to my country (USA) I am left behind to be screwed. The unemployment folks approve those the develop feeling with, and help those they think deserves help according to how they feel today, without looking at the US native people first, and then they ask why people go Postal!! well there is your answer……

  33. I have been unable to get in touch with ANYONE about why Connect won’t let me in to claim my unemployment benefits. Every contact has a computer message saying they can’t answer the phone and don’t have a call back option. There should be a class action lawsuit filed on the State of Florida for their failure to provide government services. Taxes were paid for these benefits – the State’s computer system is unable to handle the volume and there is no support. I have two months of benefits sitting out there and I feel like the State just wants me to give up on asking for them. They will probably try to get out of the responsibility of paying by saying I didn’t apply for them on line every week – if I could have accessed the system I would have applied for them. I’m totally lost on how I can through to apply for benefits. I am also totally out of money for groceries, rent and utilities. HELP!

      • I just got my 1099-G form and it states that I was paid 19,724 dollars in reemployment assistance, yet I only received 7800,,,why would they do that if I can prove I never received 19,000

You have thousands of people out of work with nowhere to turn. I sat and read your soothing reply’s however, it does not put food on Floridians tables… FRUSTRATED!!!

    • I started my claim process on April 4th after being layed off April 1st due to COVID-19. I was directed to complete all information (resume, etc. on the EMPLOY FLORIDA website) which I did. I did receive email confirmation of my “profile update” on the Employ Florida site through April 7th (a total of 5 emails). I then attempted to complete my initial claim form through the next week–literally sitting up through the night and taking turns with my spouse on the computer through the day until April 7th trying to complete my form but constantly being booted off the site mid-way. I finally completed my form but when checking at the end to ensure all information was complete and accurate found 2 questions with incorrect answers. The first indicated I am receiving a subsistence allowance from the VA for vocational rehabilitation–which I am not. AND, there is no question on the claim form related to this incorrect answer for me to attempt to “modify”….The second incorrect answer relates to a pension other than Social Security that I do receive from an employer prior to 2018–but consistently credits my most recent employer with this pension. Despite repeated attempts to correct this information for more than 3 days and nights my attempts to “modify” this answer were unsuccessful. On April 9th I downloaded a hardcopy of the form to submit by mail. The following morning I went back to the website to ensure the form being used was the most current–and found a different version (with more information needed) being offered…I downloaded the “new” form and completed it–but held it over the weekend to check the veracity of the form on the following Monday morning. This second version held so I mailed it to the (correct) Tallahassee address. I continued to attempt my online form–still unable to correct the same 2 answers listed above. When the “new” PEGA platform was launched I was successful on my first attempt to access the site and within 20 minutes was able to successfully complete the application on this site–which was considerably shorter than the original application (did not include question re VA subsistence and did not ask about pension) and I submitted this new electronic application on April 27th. I continued to check my “Connect” and “Employ Florida” sites for messages…none since April 7th. Since April 27th this site lists my application is “pending.
      I am now further confused by accessing the third website https://fileunemployment.org/florida/
      This link to this site connected me to what appears to be the same form I initially attempted to complete. This application indicates I have not submitted a claim; shows the same 2 incorrect answers on this form which I am not successful in my repeated attempts to “modify” and now lists the PEGA (application) date as an answer on the questionnaire form–but is not listed in the “review for accuracy” section??? Bottom line–this system is still f#!%*….I have not received a dime and like so many others am faced with choices of paying mortgage or utilities and food for June.

  39. My daughter has been laid off since 3/15/2020. We have been trying to get through to someone for a few weeks now to get her unemployment filed. You website is not working at all. It let us get as far as setting up a new claim but every time we get past the login it goes back to main page prior to login page. This is getting ridiculous!

  40. I need some guidance on eligibility. I have not been able to work since 3/2/19 due to an accident and receiving injuries. I am still under doctors care and can’t file for disability. Family and friends have been my support. They can no longer assist because of Covid 19. One is quarantined and the other on leave due to Covid 19. I need assistance to support myself.   43. My children are furloughed because of Covid-19, and have filed for unemployment compensation. They live with me and help with the monthly expenses. They have an employer. Why would they be required to prove they have looked for another job to get their compensation with everyone out of work with the Covid-19 quarantine?
