I am not sure of a definite answer to your question. Please call the Unemployment Office in your state for details.

  1. Can I Get Unemployment If I Quit My Job?
My father is terminally ill and is the caregiver to my mother, if I quit my job in order to take care of both of them since I’m the only child is that considered good cause? since there is no other care provider.

    1. Dave,

Unfortunately, personal reasons are generally not considered. You may consider calling the Unemployment Office in your state for further guidance.

  2. My UI funds went into an account that I no longer have the info for as I dont have the card nor the info on the account to gain access to find out if the funds are their or not! My question is What do I have to do to get the deposited Funds Into the correct account if i dont have the info anymore to the old account?

    1. Adam,

Please call the Claims Center on the phone numbers provided. With your SS or other personal info, they should be able to pull out your records.

  3. I worked in one state then transferred with the company to another state am I eligible? I also took a pay cut of 2$ an hour.

You can be eligible to claim partial unemployment benefits if the hours were reduced. Please contact the Unemployment Office for further discussion.

    1. Carol,

Please note this is a private forum and we do not have access to your claim file. Please call the Unemployment Office for an update.

  5. All I need is a phone number to talk to someone about getting a W2 copy for taxes. Finding a phone number to ask a Human for this is like finding a needle in a haystack. Communication is the worlds’ biggest problem and this is a prime example. Give us a phone number to call that works!

  6. I am a Chicago Public School teacher. We no longer receive money over the summer since CPS has stopped taking money from our checks throughout the school year for this to happen. If I am not working for the months of July and August, can I apply for unemployment benefits since my hours have been reduced to 0 during those months?

    1. Seasonal jobs such as schooling are generally not eligible due to their obvious nature of work.

Please inquire further with the labor authorities in your state.

  7. If i file for unemployment online, is there an option for me to add my childsupport payments to be deducted from my unemployment checks? Thanks In Advance

  8. Where do I go online to file for Illinois Unemployment Benefits? There seems to be more than one entity you can go through when I Google it, and I want to make sure I’m applying at the right place.

  13. Why when I certify for my benefit from Teleserve on Wednesday then find out on Friday when the direct deposit don’t go to my card then I call the Marion office and listen to a 5 minute recording to learn they will not answer their phone. So I call Chicago office to learn it is always busy and they don’t obviously want to help either. I then call Teleserve and try to certify again to learn my account is suspended. It is now Monday and still can’t get through to Chicago office. I call every 20 minutes with hope in talking to someone who can help. I pay taxes and this is Un acceptable system that is in place. The drive to marion is my last hope to get help. Don’t anyone care about others in this state? State workers are on my dime, they should be there when someone needs help. After calling all day Friday and Monday nothing will ever change. This is a joke.

  14. Hello I have a quick question. If a person is working an takes voluntary layoff with a severance package and is receiving a little over $5,000.00 would you still be eligible for Unemployment?

    1. You are eligible for unemployment due to the layoff. The severance package may affect whether or not you qualify to receive benefits during a specific portion of your claim and may reduce the amount of benefits.
