Maryland Unemployment Application
Eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits cannot be determined until you actually file an initial claim. If you are unemployed, file your claim as soon as possible, as your eligibility begins the week in which you file your claim. Your claim becomes effective the Sunday of the week during which you apply for benefits.
You can file via the Internet or by telephone using one of the telephone numbers listed on the Unemployment Insurance.
In addition, you must be unemployed through no fault of your own, be able to work, available for work, looking for full-time work (unless defined by Unemployment Insurance as a part-time worker), and willing to accept a job for which you are qualified.
Before filing a claim you will need to have:
- your name, Social Security number, address and telephone number
- if you are claiming dependents, you will need their names, birth dates and Social Security numbers
- the name, complete payroll address, telephone number and reason for separation for each employer you worked for in the 18 months prior to filing your claim

You cant make this up!
HELP
Amy,
Your eligibility depends on multiple factors. Please use the “Benefits Calculator” available on this website for more.
I receive severance from September to December 31. In January, will the severance pay be used to calculate my benefits if I get a minimum wage per diem job in the meantime.
Severance will have an impact on your UI payments. Please make sure to declare it at the time of application.

Trying to call claim center to restablish a claim i missed one week of webcert. However phone has simply rang for 1 hr now no message or anything
Kevin,
The office might be experiencing high call volumes. I hope you were able to get through now.
I filed an initial claim and receipt noticed that I was approved on the 11th of June. I filed my webcert the following Sunday during the day. The FAQ states that I should be have a payment released no later than 5 p.m. Tuesday, which will trigger the mailing of the debit card. As of right now there are no payments showing. I’ve been trying to call the claim and information center for 2 days, the phone never even Rings, it just says call back later and hangs up.
John,
I hope you received the payment by now. You can also check the payment status online, by logging in to the official portal.

I filed my unemployment on the 18th of January, received a mail about my monthly benefit about 3 weeks ago. It’s been about 7 weeks now since I filed and I’m still waiting for my payment to come in the mail. Does it usually take this long or should I give them a call? I missed about a week of weekly filing. What should I do about this, will I be paid for the week?
Tried to look it up on their website faqs couldn’t really read much about this perse.
Please call immediately to get an update. It should definitely not take so long unless they keep you updated about a possible delay.
My 26 weeks just ended, how do i file for extension?
Please note there is no federal extension available.
