  1. After being continuously employed for about 40 years my company closed its Boston office and my team’s responsibilities have been outsourced to an Indian consulting firm. Became unemployed for the first time in my life in February and filed for benefits on april 18. After 2 email corresponding to identify myself on ID.me and filling out detailed form the status of my application is “Review” and another line saying something in the line of “not eligible for benefits because I haven’t earned any wages in the period” whatever that means. Phones are useless. After few minutes of monolog saying what can be done online and how important my call is that department , my call is simply disconnected. Can’t find where there is a brick and mortar branch in my area and so far no luck.
So, with no other options left what a person is supposed to do?
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since it’s government and all the taxes we pay are treated as “their” money but I’m curious what other people did in such situations?

    • Hi Mr Skola,
I am currently in the same situation as you were (or are). I was told I did not make enough during that “period” to qualify for benefits. That “period” started in the height of the pandemic when most people were not working. How unfair to use that time instead of the time I actually worked! One UI rep put a note in my file to use the 2nd and 3rd quarter, which would include when I actually worked, but so far nothing. Another UI rep hung up on me because I kept asking her to dig a little deeper to get me some help. It is hard to call, wait 40 min for a UI rep to answer, who will not do more than just read the same info you can read on your own UI benefit page but not go a little deeper and be helpful!
Did your situation get resolved? I need a little hope to think mine would be resolved too!

    • We understand your situation. There will be a delay considering the pendency. Please continue following up regularly.

  2. I have been unemployed for 9 weeks. I file a claim each week and it goes “on hold”. My co-worker who was laid off on the same day is getting his payments. Why is my claim not processing? I need to speak with someone and I can’t get anyone on the phone. Is the actual office open to go to in person? What should I do?

    • Andrew,

Guess your co-worker is just too lucky! The delay is due to the sheer number of pending applications.

  3. I filed for the Extension of the Unemployment CARES Act the day that the last request for Unemployment Benefits were filed and accepted. It has now been over a month and I still have not received either a check or a denial from the Unemployment office. I call all the time and keep being promised that someone will call back within approximately 27 minutes – this has yet to happen. Does anyone know who else I can contact to get this ball rolling? I have had no income for over a month and am beginning to drown in debt! Can someone please give me some advice!!!!

    • RE-FILE? ARE YOU ABLE TO CLAIM WEEKLY? I WORKED DURING 10 MONTHS OF THE PANDEMIC AND PUBLIC OFFICIALS ARE TELLING ME I DID NOT-
I HAVE SENT THEM MY TAXES…
      KEEP CALLING THE GOVERNOR TOO……..

    • Kathleen,

The Unemployment Office will have many pending files. Please see if you can visit an office.

  4. number of payments due from 11/07/2020 to 02/20/2021
marked paid but status is pending, can not get thru on phone.
    how to resolve this

  5. number of payments due from 11/07/2020 to 02/20/2021
marked paid but status is pending, can not get thru on phone.
    how to resolve this

  6. My payments are on hold because of a pension that I am collecting from. DUA is investigating my pension and had me fill out a form. It has been four weeks now and I have not heard anything. I am entitled to unemployment because I was laid off from my last job, I did not have a pension there. I call DUA and I can not get a hold of anyone. I really need money to live on.

  7. My claim expires next week and the account balance is not enough to cover a full week. The job I have been working at is a full time seasonal job.
April to October. I was advised by my employer that I will not be brought back this season. They are considering not opening the retail section of the Cape Cod store. Can I and how do I file for an extension?

    Don

    • Donald,

If an extension is available and you’re eligible, you can claim. Please visit the Unemployment Office’s website for details.

  8. It is impossible to speak to someone at massachusetts unemployment. I am currently employed and i am trying to figure out why i received money from unemployment from what i think is an old claim that I never had receive a response from. Its been like 3 months since i last claimed and i dont understand why money was deposited to my account after all this time. I just want to make sure that Mass unemployment knows i am working now and that this money was what was owed to me from an old claim. If someone can help me speak to a representative it will be greatly appreciated.

  9. I did not get paid for my claim for last week. The status is “hold”. When I called yesterday I was told that my employer needs to fill out a questionaire. When my employer logged on their corporate corespondence, there was no questionaire. I cannot seem to get through on the phone today…..please assist.

  10. Follow up to my earlier comment: It’s been multiple days of multiple calls “We’re not able to take your call at this time. Your call is important to us.” If my call is important, at least let me sit on hold!

  11. I’m freaking out over a letter I got saying all the assistance I received over the past year is invalid and I have to pay it back due to an identification issue. I have no idea what that means or what I can do to remedy it and I can’t get anyone on the phone.

  12. Have you tried calling the news stations? I’m getting ready to. It’s only been 2 weeks, but I’m starting to get really stressed out and worried.

    • Ryan,

Have you followed up? Please consider the option of visiting an office in the vicinity if safe and feasible since phone lines are generally not answered.

  13. I have not received my 1099 G for 2020, the automated line says we have no 1099 g for you, What do I do now?
can’t ever get thru to an agent

  14. I have been on hold for 13 going on 14 weeks. First it said due to identity verification issues. So I photo copied my license front and back, and my ssn card front and back. Mailed it to them 12 weeks ago. 2 weeks after I mailed them I took pictures of the same objects and put them in a pdf .file and sent that. Every time I did talk to someone they said what I have sent is good enuff. Now they say my case has to be handed to a agent. COME ON ALRIGHT 14 WEEKS ?? REALLY???

    • Truett,

I can understand your situation. There will be a delay considering the number of applications that are being processed. Please continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals until payments normalize.

      • I quit my job on Sept. 12, 2020, due to poor working conditions with the pandemic. I applied for unemployment 2 weeks later. Waited a year + for a hearing appointment. Had it via WebEx on Nov. 3, 2021. Have called the Governor’s office multiple times for help. Dua finally called me back this week and said they would try to find the outcome of the hearing. Nothing yet. How long do I have to wait? Thanks

        • Herb,

The delay can be attributed due to the pendency. Please continue to chase your adjudicator until they make a determination.

  15. Hello,

I submitted a claim in April. While I submitted my 2019 W2 by mail, email, and eventually fax it was not considered in my claim and so I was given a zero dollar monetary determination and have been unable to claim wages since that point. I have called many, many times and been told my claim would be escalated, but no action has been taken. I appreciate the patience and professionalism of the phone staff, but the lack of forward progress on my case has left me in severe financial straits. Is there any other method of contacting DUA or the wages department to verify my 2019 income and begin claiming my needed benefits?

    • Office for walk ins open in Boston .You should go in person.
Or call your state rep. Someone from thier office will get on it.

    • Evan,

Please try finding answers online since there might be limited phone support due to the shortage of staffing. You can use the “Resources” or “FAQs” section of the website.

      • Sam, I have read your answers in this form. I have been waiting for an “adjuster” since April 5th, it is now June 22, 2021 or about 3 – months (11 weeks)? What do you suggest I do?

      • Hi Sam. Do you work for the unemployment office? You reply with the exact same thing to everyone… That the office is inundated with claims. That phrase is getting old. My claim has been on hold since October 25th, so for three months! It doesn’t matter how inundated they are. Having my claim on hold for THREE MONTHS is not acceptable. Especially during a pandemic. I suspended my mortgage for 6 months in 2020, ended up going back to work so I resumed payments on my mortgage, just to become unemployed again. When I reopened my claim, additional information was needed. I submitted all of the documentation requested, but that was 3 months ago. The bank won’t suspend my mortgage again. My savings is almost gone. I just need an answer, and your condescending response isn’t helpful. People need answers, not to be told to just wait and be patient. I’ve been patient. Ive been patient for 3 months. I’m no longer patient!

  16. My payment status says processed. while my account is still on prenote and i cant find my money in my bank account yet payment has been issued. I dont understand i cant talk to a person on the phone ?

    • This is a not response everyone. In order to get through on the phone, keep calling over and over, eventually you’ll get through and get placed on hold for 20 mins or so. After you hit prompt 8 for customer service. If they say ” due to high call volume…” they will hang up. If you hear “thank you for calling….” you’ll get placed on hold. Also, start calling your state reps and governors office because it’s the only way this is going to be resolved. Im doing this now as we speak. Good luck all

      • How do I schedule a call back from Mass Unemployment? I can’t find the answer to my question online and I am unable to file a claim. I have been filing since 10/15/20 didn’t file last week due to family emergency and now I am unable to re-open claim. I am still unemployed. When I complete the questionnaire to file I am prompted to answer a question regarding the length of time I worked at my previous employer. I was there for 7 and 1/2 years. When I enter my 2013 start date – I receive a message that it is not in the correct range.
        HELP!

        • A month after filing my claim, I was disqualified with no explanation. A week or so later when I was finally able to get through to someone, I was informed that my proof of address document wasn’t acceptable. Apparently it was easier to just disqualify me than to explain what needed to be done. I emailed a specific document that I was told to be acceptable. It has now been over 11 weeks since I first filed and still nothing

        • Considering the pendency, phone support will be limited. Please try finding answers to your question online.

      • Hi Sam, I am in MA and filed my weekly claim as usual. The system says this week’s payment is on “Hold.” For the life of me, I cannot get through to DUA. I have tried repeated. I am not able to find any information as to whether I can come to the office in person. Do you have any informnation about this, or can you direct me to a reliable source?

        • Suzanne- I am in the same boat, it has been 10 weeks for me I call I get the same BS my claim was escalated after I called Governor Banker Constitutes did everything I was suppose to do and now NOTHING! I go to my account I speak with Tier 2 employee’s my account has been assigned to an adjuster and still NOTHING!! I am going to be calling Help me Hank next week and I suggest everyone call
Governor Banker Constitutes if they have issues.

        • Sam, your suggestion of visiting a local office is way off the mark! None of the offices are open! A suggestion should be one that helps, I don’t have any as nothing I have tried worked for me, still on eternal hold. I guess we can just keep trying to get in touch with unemployment, good luck! Bob

        • Suzanne,

The best way to maintain a claim is to check the status and manage the claim on the internet. You can also consider the option of visiting an office in the vicinity.

  17. My call is disconnected repeatedly after I wade through the computer choices; I would be willing to wait on hold until someone is available, but disconnecting the call is unacceptable. In earlier weeks, when I was able to reach an associate, they were courteous, informative and very helpful… but making them inaccessible just leaves me stranded. The website does not have the answers to my questions; the computer on the phone does not have the answer to my questions. I need to converse with a person.

    • Page,

There might be no person free/available. Please try and find answers to your question online, on the department’s official website.

  18. Mine is on hold too for a month. I can never get a live person on the phone. Online system just says “HOLD” under current status. Telecert phone line says my claim is current. Payment status line says no payments have been made…I don’t know what else to do and have no way of knowing when I will receive the benefits. Can you somehow find a real person to talk to?

    • Hi Tom,

I’ve been on hold for five weeks too. If your case is pending adjudication or adjustment, then unfortunately you just have to wait like me. The customer service reps are only able to give you information about your case.

The best time to call is 9:30-11:00 or 2:00-4:00. I found that it’s harder to get someone on the line when they first open, around lunchtime, and just before they close.

      All the best!

    • I spoke to a live person today. They advised that due to the increase in fraudulent claims, mass has a new verification process. All claims filed in the months of October and November will have to go through an additional review process. No additional activities is required on the claimants part. Just wait patiently. They anticipate these reviews to take 3 weeks or longer.

  19. My payment has been on hold for 4 months with no answer as to when I will receive any money. THIS IS NOT RIGHT!! People are losing their homes/rentals. We all need to go to the news and I bet we will get our money then.

    • I dont know if we feel better or worse knowing that others are going through the same thing. These ‘holds’ that they put on all reopened unemployment claims are a joke – I get that there is SO much fraud involving unemployment – but we have called daily for 6 weeks and verify ALL information everytime – we ask them to call back so we can prove that we are real people. As of today, our cell phones have been turned off for non-payment and our belongings in storage are going to auction. I always thought ‘living in a van down by the river was a joke’ – until that is where I was living. The sad thing is I wasn’t even approved for that much money, but with the backlog of money I am owed…..it will help me survive til I go back to work. This is not acceptable.

      • Joe,

There are millions of claimants sailing on the same boat. Please be patient and continue chasing for a payment update.

    • Hi Julie,
Not sure if you can help but here is my problem. I received an email from MA DUA and I sent back the info they asked for. It has been 8 weeks and have not heard back and I have not received any money.

I tried looking on line but there is nothing there that helps me. I try calling them and I get put on hold then it just disconnects. If you anyway to help I would greatly apprechate it.

      Thanks,
      Tanner

    • Julie,

Please try finding answers online since there might be limited phone support due to the shortage of staffing. You can use the “Resources” or “FAQs” section of the website.

      • I get disconnected each time I try calling since this morning, how can I resolve this? The payment line said I was paid, I was NOT!

        • Amanda,

Please wait for a couple of the days for the payment to reflect. If you still don’t see it, please follow up.

  20. 7 weeks waiting here. I did get a human on the phone a couple of weeks ago telling me I am waiting on an auditor. When you call the # for help and follow the prompts you get hung up on usually. This is beyond unacceptable. Me and those who employ me have been paying into unemployment for 45 years. Claim #1, 7 weeks waiting and all they can do is hang up?
Does anyone have an alternate number or email for this fiasco?

    • I have not received my unemployment either for 4 months. All the calls go to an Automated response. You pick everything they tell you to choose and then they hang up. There is No one to help you. It is extremely frustrating. I don’t know what to do anymore. I feel the exact same.

      • Danielle,

I can understand your situation. There will be a delay considering the number of applications that are being processed. Please continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals until payments normalize.

    • Michael,

The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. Please consider the option of visiting an office in the vicinity if feasible.

  21. It said on my pua account that I got paid for the last 7 weeks but it’s not on my debit..I call everyday to talk with a tier 2 operator but when the tier 1 operator patches me through I get cut off..

  22. I have been on hold for 9 weeks this is bull every time I call I get sending for review and still nothing I’m pissed I want my money I’m tired of the run around calling news to who ever will listen this is sad

    • Have you gotten anywhere? My claim has been on hold for 7 weeks. I have been trying to call all morning and the automated system keeps disconnecting me after I hit the customer service prompt . Its so frustrating!

      • Hey Michael, are you still waiting? (As of 11-23-20?? I’m going through the same experience right now, but am at 5+ weeks, so not as bad as you. And every time that I’ve called, I’ve gotten the same response as you, waiting on an auditor, and they can’t give me a response on when that will happen?

      • You need to go on other sites. Might seem like they only have one site but get the actual emails to representatives if they are not picking up calls. They respond better to emails. Email anyone even it’s not the department that handles claimed. This worked, I got an email response.Call city hall and complain to the state. Hope this helps.

  23. My payment has been on hold for 9 weeks and I’ve been trying to contact UI at least once every week . I got some monetary issues on my account and They keep telling me someone needs to work on my case but no one has been working on it for weeks. I am running out of savings and can’t support my family any longer

    • I have been waiting for an adjustor to be assigned for three months. I send the office a letter everyday and keep track. I understand the Covid situation but this is ridiculous.

      • Cheryl,

I can understand your situation. There will be a delay considering the number of applications that are being processed. Please continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals until payments normalize.

    • Call them twice a day and tell them you’re willing to wait for as long as it takes to speak to someone who can provide a solution.

      • All I’m getting is voice mails and automated questions with no relevance to my situation, I got a lot going on with no help, I think it’s redundant and retarted to have to waste an ample amount of time trying to call, when clearly I’m getting no where, I keep pushing my issues and responsibilities off to try and fix my unemployment and food stamps and ect to get no where,

        • David,

The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. Please visit the website to find the answers.

    • The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. Please visit the website to find the answers.

      • This is ridiculous! The website is useless for help! Been on hold now for 4 weeks! I need this money!!!! Why can’t someone from UE explain why I’m on hold for this long!

        • Tracy,

I can understand your situation. There will be a delay considering the number of applications that are being processed. Please continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals until payments normalize.

      • There are so many unemployed people here with the skills to provide for the labor shortage that’s at the UI office. What an irony….

      • “Sam”,

Are you some sort of bot; you keep giving the same answer to all questions. People are hurting here–some of us face eviction and cannot take responsibilities and necessities our families need..

Have a real person with empathy and some semblance of authority making comments and answering question. Stop insulting our collective intelligence with these standardized comments!!

  24. Have been collecting fine, up til last week. I made money off a 1 time gig. My understanding is that claiming it would just lower my benefit for the week. But I never got my claim. When I lclicked on the details, it showed my claim, plus the same amount as a new part time military employee. So the system thinks I made twice as much. The gig I did had nothing to do with the military. So I typed zero for the military thing and resubmitted, but nothing has happened. And now I haven’t received my claim for this week either. Tried to call and it asked for my social, which it then said was unrecognized. Any thoughts? This is in MA.

  25. My initial claim had to be appealed all because my last employer was accidentally not included. I have been waiting for 2 months for an appeal decision!! I have been trying to contact and speak with someone for 2 months, the appeal is only supposed to take 30 days can I please Speak to a human?? I am unemployed and need the benefits!!

    • I have been trying to creat a 4 digit password for claining weekly benefits. Could you please contact me to provide the correct information and resolve this ongoing issue? Thank you so much

    • Hi, been trying to call for help, tried all morning, can not get through!! I’ve been locked out of my account. I can not bring up my homepage. I’m at a lost as to what to do…

    • Daniel,

There will be a delay considering the number of applications that are being processed. Please continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals until payments normalize.

  26. My wife was laid off her job on May 20. She has tried dozens of times to file a claim online. She can get into her account, but it freezes when she tries to send it. She has called over a dozen times. The answer is always the same. They take her number and tell her she will get a call back, which almost always doesn’t come. When she does get a call back, the person tells her that someone else ! will call her back. the person Who can unfreeze her account is unavailable…Who can we file an appeal with so that she can file her claim?

    • I’ve been waiting for 3 weeks without pay.
I’m going to lose my home because my status remains on hold

      • Sean,

We understand this might be a difficult time for you. We’re anticipating a shortage of staff across unemployment offices due to the massive surge in UI applications considering the pandemic. Please continue chasing the office/checking the status regularly.

        • Bull fix the problem stop giving a run around and do your jobs or let the ones waiting on their money take over we would like a check

    • Mark,

I can understand the situation. It may be a temp. technical issue. Please try with a different browser or call the Unemployment Office for assistance.

  27. I have applied for Unemployment benefits and did get the first two checks, however I now try to log in online and it says “Confirm your Social Security Number: is not a valid SSN (Social Security Number). Valid formats are XXX-XX-XXXX or XXXXXXXXX (32)” under errors. I noticed the dots that appear in place of my password do not match up to the correct number of characters I type, there is a limit where if I keep typing in that field they won’t show after a certain amount. I also don’t see an option to reset my password to see if that might work. I have tried calling the office and talk to someone to try and resolve this so I can just log in, and i’ll be on hold for about 10 minutes and then it hangs up on me.

    • I file my application on March 22 -2020 they somebody name but on me I tell them to Remove the name is not my jobs I not work for this person they are not doing anything from March to June 19-2020 they are not doing anything I need help please

    • Bryan,

You might be doing it wrong/might be a temp. technical glitch. Please try to resolve it through DIY.

    • I’ve resolved the issue, was a mistake on my end, still not happy that I was on hold and hung up on more than once though

      • If I went back to work 18 hours last week, but we mail time sheets every 2 weeks and don’t get paid until next week. How do I file if I have no proof of my hours? They hang up when I call unemployment

        • Patricia,

You should be eligible to continue claiming “Partial UI benefits”. Please explore online.

  28. Hi, I filed for unemployment after I lost my job on March 27. I have not received a check because my status was mistakenly listed as “quit.” I did not quit, and my employer said they will try to help to fix this. I cannot talk or email anyone in Mass UI. This will be my 4th week of not getting a check. I need to speak with an adjustor who I can send information to regarding this claim. Please help. Thank you. Kevin

    • Kevin,

I can understand your situation. Please wait for an update from the office. There will be thousands of applications for the office to be processed. Make sure to check the status at regular intervals.

  29. Hi. I applied for unemployment I have been approved but have pending issues on my claim. I sent in my documents Multiple times so the pending issues can be updated. I left my contact information on the unemployment website Multiple times still haven’t received a called back to resolve my pending issues on my claim. What should I do?

    • Chantell,

Please wait. There will be thousands of applications for the office to be processed. Make sure to check the status at regular intervals.

      • Hi Sam I have a question I applied for unemployment in Massachusetts in March on March 20th.. I didn’t know my exact dates of working so I put March 8th on May 5th the claim was accepted.. so my dates are March 8th until March 8th 2021. I received one payment today but I am unable to figure out how to receive all the back weeks from March. The website says if you applied on or after March 10th you will receive all those payments. I applied March 20th but my effective date is March 8th. I also got an email from my employer saying that I can go back to work.I highly doubt they are going to give me full time hours again so if she continues to schedule me for only 5 or 10 hours can I still collect unemployment? But my main question is am I eligible to receive the month well over a month worth of paymentsand how do I go about doing that cuz when I claimed my first week I was only able to claim that week not the previous ones. Thank you for your time anybody who can answer.

        • Sandi,

You should still be able to collect partial UI benefits. Please continue claiming for the lost hours.

  30. i am out of work because of Covid19. I applied, and got approved for unemployment on Tuesday March 17. I have no received payment yet. I continue to claim weekly benefits, with hope it will all catch up. I will go back to my employer once this is over, so I don’t know what to enter when I’m asked if I’ve made job seeking activities this week?? Please help

    • Hi Lindsay,
I saw your question and although I don’t work for the DUA, I will answer it for you because I know the answer and otherwise, nobody will answer it for you and I know how frustrating that is because I have a question I need answered and it’s impossible to get an answer. I filled out their “form” for someone to contact me on Monday morning, which means Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday have gone by, 24 working hours and still, no call, email or text. Useless form in my opinion.
When you’re filling out the questionnaire about your work search for the week, ALWAYS and I stress ALWAYS answer NO until you get to the last question, which has 3 parts and says something like were you available to work? did you look for work? and I forget the 3rd one. Then, when it asks you how many days you looked for work, put 3 every single time. You do not need to add your work search activity log.
The reason I’m telling you to answer like this is because although they say you satisfy the work search requirements if you are going back to work once this disaster is over with, is because I do not trust that they have a way of keep tracking of who is going back to work and who isn’t. I made the mistake of answering “no” to the “were you available to work” once and they didn’t pay me that week. I forget why I answered no, I think I had my wisdom teeth pulled or something, but having your wisdom teeth pulled does not mean they should deny you benefits for that week. So if you answer “no” to “did you look for work” (because you’re going back to your job), it’s possible they will say this person is not satisfying the work search requirement, even though you’re excused from doing that, and it’s possible you wouldn’t get paid, so to play it safe, answer “no” to all questions, until you get to the final 3 part question and answer “yes” every week, every time, and choose 3 for the days you looked for work.
As for your check, it takes a while for them to get you out your first check, however, when they do, it will include all of the weeks that you have filed, checks always go out on a Friday and the first check is always a physical check, then direct deposit kicks in. When you finally do receive a check, you’ll probably get it on a Tuesday and you will also get a direct deposit the same day for the week you just claimed 2 days prior on Sunday, so you get a lot of money at once, but until you do, you just gotta scrape by. I hope this helps.

    • My unemployment claim has been approved and it says paid but then under payment issued it says pending. Any idea when this will be sent?

      • Ariel,

It might take a few days or perhaps be delayed due to the pandemic. Please keep checking the status online at regular intervals.

Please fill out the info to the best of your knowledge. It’s very important to complete the application at this time.

  36. I received a letter stating I could fill out the enclosed wage correction form, it was however not included…where can I find this online?

  37. HELP!! The website is not working properly, I cannot sign in, the verification process doesn’t work, it’s just an endless loop of error messages. I’ve requested a call back twice now but haven’t received that call. They aren’t staffing the phones so there’s no one to call for tech help or to initiate a claim. What can I do?

    • Sarah,

There will be perhaps no one to call you back. Please try finding answers online since there might be limited phone support due to the shortage of staffing.

  38. My boyfriend needs to get unemployment due to the covid-19. His name was incorrect on the site so he sent the claim online and waited to get a call back. When they finally called back they said he had to go to the office in Boston. We live on Martha’s Vineyard. There is an order for everyone to stay home. That is the reason he is not working. It is not safe for him to get on a boat to go to the office in Boston. Can someone call him? Not an automated machine. So he can resolve this.

    • Jess,

Please note this is a private forum. Please ask your boyfriend to reach out to the Unemployment Office over the phone.

  39. Due to Clovis-19 pandemic ore non essential business has been forced to close. Both My wife and I solely depend on it being open for our income. I know because we re self employed we don’t contribute to unemployment, which I was unaware, making us ineligible to receive benefits. How can we get financial help.
I was told that there may be exceptions due to the stimulus package that has been passed. Please help. We support a family of 5 and both my parents. I filled out a claim and it states I will not receive no benefits. What should we do?

    • Anotne,

I need someone to help me fix this application because i have been out of work for two weeks now with no money to pay my bills.

    • Raisa,

We understand this might be a difficult time for you. We’re anticipating a shortage of staff across unemployment offices due to the massive surge in UI applications considering the pandemic. We advise against calling or visiting the office, as you may not get a response instantly.

Your state may have activated “Extended Benefits (EB)” authorized by the federal government. We recommend you apply for UI benefits online. For more information, please visit your state’s official Unemployment website.

  41. the website wont let me log on and tells me i have to speak with someone but i cant get a hold of anyone. I am trying to make a claim and need to asap but it seems impossible. please help.

  42. I have been trying to reach Unemployment all week with no success. When I call 617.626.6800 (or 877.626.6800), I get a recording telling me to go to the website for the ‘callback feature’ (and I don’t get an option to speak to anyone). When I go to the website, it says the ‘callback feature’ is unavailable. I also don’t see any email address I can use to get my questions answered and respond to the request for information that I see in my Unemployment profile ‘inbox’. I have two questions I need to get addressed, and both are time sensitive per Unemployment Office requirements. How can I reach someone?

    • I cant get passed the reset pass word page after the phone verification I get an unexpected error has occurred… been trying since March 19th

    • We are sorry to hear about your difficulties. There is a huge shortage of staff across all unemployment offices due to a massive surge in UI applications. 43. I made a mistake on my initial unemployment claim, but I can’t delete the claim or get through to someone on the phone to fix it. Each time I call the center, an automated message says that the office of unemployment telecenter is closed even though their hours are stated as opening at 8:30AM. Any insight? Thank you!

    • Taylor,

Have you tried the online method? If not, please visit the official website of the Unemployment Office.

  44. I have an existing claim that I’ve had for about a month now but I just recently went bqck to work full time and am looking to open a new claim regarding the coronavirus situation and I have now been laid off. How do i file a new claim even tho i still have an existing separate claim for a totally different reason???

    • John,

Please visit the Unemployment Office’s website to learn more about emergency funds available in the backdrop of the COVID-19 situation.

      • I have no way of contacting unemployment because offices are closed for god knows how long… and I can’t log into my account because I forgot my password and when I try to reset it, it says unexpected error. I’m out of work and don’t know what to do… Need a solution!

        • Drea,

      • Sam im not seeing anything that helps me learn or help my sotuation of trying to open a new claim because i have an existing claim From a month ago still being held up.

  45. I have been trying to get unemployment for two months. I sent in all requested documents requested by me on the portal twice via priority mail. No reply, no letters, no phones calls. Then I was denied for zero wages after a month! Which was wrong. I immediately sent in an appeal over a month again priority mail. No response! Everyday I spend several hours trying to reach someone by phone and I can’t get through. And the call back feature on the website is broken. I’ve sent letters to both the unemployment office and the commonwealth asking for someone to contact me. No response. This has been a nightmare. Who do I need to contact and for the love of god do not say the Unemployment Office. There must be another resource.

    • i’m starting to believe it’s done on purpose. they don’t want to pay you/us any benefits. They just take. the tax payer is the one paying them. I did not ask for this to happen. I too am going on a month with out any funds and no contact with live person. ever see the movie “Falling Down”?

    • Melissa,

I can understand how it feels to have no response despite all the actions. You can consider visiting an office in the vicinity if feasible.

      • I went to my local (Lowell) office and it was just a waste of time nobody could be bothered to look at my file.

  46. I cannot get to a live person to ask a question. Entering 0 to speak to a rep just resets the automated message.

I just have a question on severance.

  47. I answered two questions incorrectly don’t know how do you contact somebody to correct should I go into the unemployment office in Boston to get this resolved

  48. I was not prompted in the UI system to submit my Jan 5th week. Who do I email/call to get this fixed? My SS # ends in 9 and it keeps telling me I have to wait until Thursday. This is a tech issue. Is there someone who can help me?

    • Why wait until Thursday? You know you’re supposed to report on Sunday for the previous week. If the computer isn’t working properly, there is a telephone number you can call to call in your unemployment electronically. The key is to call immediately first thing in the morning and not wait until high call volume time later on in the day or evening. If the phone number isn’t working, you should physically go to the nearest UI office and speak with someone.

      • I’m a union ironworker and attend school for the union as well. They told us we could file when we have school during regular working hours do I did and my claim was denied, I didn’t follow up on it because I didn’t need it. Now, I’m actually laid off and have waited about a month and my claim was denied again. It’s impossible to get in touch with anyone and the lady at the career center in my area I felt was less than polite. Does this mean I will never receive unemployment again? So all the money I pay into it will just be taken by the state? It’s impossible to get in touch with people by phone
