  1. Hello,

I submitted a claim in April. While I submitted my 2019 W2 by mail, email, and eventually fax it was not considered in my claim and so I was given a zero dollar monetary determination and have been unable to claim wages since that point. I have called many, many times and been told my claim would be escalated, but no action has been taken. I appreciate the patience and professionalism of the phone staff, but the lack of forward progress on my case has left me in severe financial straits. Is there any other method of contacting DUA or the wages department to verify my 2019 income and begin claiming my needed benefits?

    1. Evan,

Please try finding answers online since there might be limited phone support due to the shortage of staffing. You can use the “Resources” or “FAQs” section of the website.

      1. Hi Sam. Do you work for the unemployment office? You reply with the exact same thing to everyone… That the office is inundated with claims. That phrase is getting old. My claim has been on hold since October 25th, so for three months! It doesn’t matter how inundated they are. Having my claim on hold for THREE MONTHS is not acceptable. Especially during a pandemic. I suspended my mortgage for 6 months in 2020, ended up going back to work so I resumed payments on my mortgage, just to become unemployed again. When I reopened my claim, additional information was needed. I submitted all of the documentation requested, but that was 3 months ago. The bank won’t suspend my mortgage again. My savings is almost gone. I just need an answer, and your condescending response isn’t helpful. People need answers, not to be told to just wait and be patient. I’ve been patient. Ive been patient for 3 months. I’m no longer patient!

      2. Sam, I have read your answers in this form. I have been waiting for an “adjuster” since April 5th, it is now June 22, 2021 or about 3 – months (11 weeks)? What do you suggest I do?

    2. Office for walk ins open in Boston .You should go in person.
Or call your state rep. Someone from thier office will get on it.

  2. My payment status says processed. while my account is still on prenote and i cant find my money in my bank account yet payment has been issued. I dont understand i cant talk to a person on the phone ?

      1. Hi Sam, I am in MA and filed my weekly claim as usual. The system says this week’s payment is on “Hold.” For the life of me, I cannot get through to DUA. I have tried repeated. I am not able to find any information as to whether I can come to the office in person. Do you have any informnation about this, or can you direct me to a reliable source?

        1. Suzanne,

The best way to maintain a claim is to check the status and manage the claim on the internet. You can also consider the option of visiting an office in the vicinity.

        2. Sam, your suggestion of visiting a local office is way off the mark! None of the offices are open! A suggestion should be one that helps, I don’t have any as nothing I have tried worked for me, still on eternal hold. I guess we can just keep trying to get in touch with unemployment, good luck! Bob

        3. Suzanne- I am in the same boat, it has been 10 weeks for me I call I get the same BS my claim was escalated after I called Governor Banker Constitutes did everything I was suppose to do and now NOTHING! I go to my account I speak with Tier 2 employee’s my account has been assigned to an adjuster and still NOTHING!! I am going to be calling Help me Hank next week and I suggest everyone call
Governor Banker Constitutes if they have issues.

      2. How do I schedule a call back from Mass Unemployment? I can’t find the answer to my question online and I am unable to file a claim. I have been filing since 10/15/20 didn’t file last week due to family emergency and now I am unable to re-open claim. I am still unemployed. When I complete the questionnaire to file I am prompted to answer a question regarding the length of time I worked at my previous employer. I was there for 7 and 1/2 years. When I enter my 2013 start date – I receive a message that it is not in the correct range.

        1. Considering the pendency, phone support will be limited. Please try finding answers to your question online.

        2. A month after filing my claim, I was disqualified with no explanation. A week or so later when I was finally able to get through to someone, I was informed that my proof of address document wasn’t acceptable. Apparently it was easier to just disqualify me than to explain what needed to be done. I emailed a specific document that I was told to be acceptable. It has now been over 11 weeks since I first filed and still nothing

    1. This is a not response everyone. In order to get through on the phone, keep calling over and over, eventually you’ll get through and get placed on hold for 20 mins or so. After you hit prompt 8 for customer service. If they say ” due to high call volume…” they will hang up. If you hear “thank you for calling….” you’ll get placed on hold. Also, start calling your state reps and governors office because it’s the only way this is going to be resolved. Im doing this now as we speak. Good luck all

  3. My call is disconnected repeatedly after I wade through the computer choices; I would be willing to wait on hold until someone is available, but disconnecting the call is unacceptable. In earlier weeks, when I was able to reach an associate, they were courteous, informative and very helpful… but making them inaccessible just leaves me stranded. The website does not have the answers to my questions; the computer on the phone does not have the answer to my questions. I need to converse with a person.

    1. Page,

There might be no person free/available. Please try and find answers to your question online, on the department’s official website.

  4. Mine is on hold too for a month. I can never get a live person on the phone. Online system just says “HOLD” under current status. Telecert phone line says my claim is current. Payment status line says no payments have been made…I don’t know what else to do and have no way of knowing when I will receive the benefits. Can you somehow find a real person to talk to?

    1. I spoke to a live person today. They advised that due to the increase in fraudulent claims, mass has a new verification process. All claims filed in the months of October and November will have to go through an additional review process. No additional activities is required on the claimants part. Just wait patiently. They anticipate these reviews to take 3 weeks or longer.

    2. Hi Tom,

I’ve been on hold for five weeks too. If your case is pending adjudication or adjustment, then unfortunately you just have to wait like me. The customer service reps are only able to give you information about your case.

The best time to call is 9:30-11:00 or 2:00-4:00. I found that it’s harder to get someone on the line when they first open, around lunchtime, and just before they close.

      All the best!

  5. My payment has been on hold for 4 months with no answer as to when I will receive any money. THIS IS NOT RIGHT!! People are losing their homes/rentals. We all need to go to the news and I bet we will get our money then.

    1. Julie,

Please try finding answers online since there might be limited phone support due to the shortage of staffing. You can use the “Resources” or “FAQs” section of the website.

      1. I get disconnected each time I try calling since this morning, how can I resolve this? The payment line said I was paid, I was NOT!

        1. Amanda,

Please wait for a couple of the days for the payment to reflect. If you still don’t see it, please follow up.

    2. Hi Julie,
Not sure if you can help but here is my problem. I received an email from MA DUA and I sent back the info they asked for. It has been 8 weeks and have not heard back and I have not received any money.

I tried looking on line but there is nothing there that helps me. I try calling them and I get put on hold then it just disconnects. If you anyway to help I would greatly apprechate it.

    3. I dont know if we feel better or worse knowing that others are going through the same thing. These ‘holds’ that they put on all reopened unemployment claims are a joke – I get that there is SO much fraud involving unemployment – but we have called daily for 6 weeks and verify ALL information everytime – we ask them to call back so we can prove that we are real people. As of today, our cell phones have been turned off for non-payment and our belongings in storage are going to auction. I always thought ‘living in a van down by the river was a joke’ – until that is where I was living. The sad thing is I wasn’t even approved for that much money, but with the backlog of money I am owed… will help me survive til I go back to work. This is not acceptable.

      1. Joe,

There are millions of claimants sailing on the same boat. Please be patient and continue chasing for a payment update.

  6. 7 weeks waiting here. I did get a human on the phone a couple of weeks ago telling me I am waiting on an auditor. When you call the # for help and follow the prompts you get hung up on usually. This is beyond unacceptable. Me and those who employ me have been paying into unemployment for 45 years. Claim #1, 7 weeks waiting and all they can do is hang up?
Does anyone have an alternate number or email for this fiasco?

    1. Michael,

The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. Please consider the option of visiting an office in the vicinity if feasible.

    2. I have not received my unemployment either for 4 months. All the calls go to an Automated response. You pick everything they tell you to choose and then they hang up. There is No one to help you. It is extremely frustrating. I don’t know what to do anymore. I feel the exact same.

      1. Danielle,

I can understand your situation. There will be a delay considering the number of applications that are being processed. Please continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals until payments normalize.

  7. It said on my pua account that I got paid for the last 7 weeks but it’s not on my debit..I call everyday to talk with a tier 2 operator but when the tier 1 operator patches me through I get cut off..

  8. I have been on hold for 9 weeks this is bull every time I call I get sending for review and still nothing I’m pissed I want my money I’m tired of the run around calling news to who ever will listen this is sad

      1. You need to go on other sites. Might seem like they only have one site but get the actual emails to representatives if they are not picking up calls. They respond better to emails. Email anyone even it’s not the department that handles claimed. This worked, I got an email response.Call city hall and complain to the state. Hope this helps.

    1. Have you gotten anywhere? My claim has been on hold for 7 weeks. I have been trying to call all morning and the automated system keeps disconnecting me after I hit the customer service prompt . Its so frustrating!

      1. Hey Michael, are you still waiting? (As of 11-23-20?? I’m going through the same experience right now, but am at 5+ weeks, so not as bad as you. And every time that I’ve called, I’ve gotten the same response as you, waiting on an auditor, and they can’t give me a response on when that will happen?

  9. My payment has been on hold for 9 weeks and I’ve been trying to contact UI at least once every week . I got some monetary issues on my account and They keep telling me someone needs to work on my case but no one has been working on it for weeks. I am running out of savings and can’t support my family any longer

    1. The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. Please visit the website to find the answers.

      1. “Sam”,

Are you some sort of bot; you keep giving the same answer to all questions. People are hurting here–some of us face eviction and cannot take responsibilities and necessities our families need..

Have a real person with empathy and some semblance of authority making comments and answering question. Stop insulting our collective intelligence with these standardized comments!!

      2. There are so many unemployed people here with the skills to provide for the labor shortage that’s at the UI office. What an irony….

      3. This is ridiculous! The website is useless for help! Been on hold now for 4 weeks! I need this money!!!! Why can’t someone from UE explain why I’m on hold for this long!

        1. Tracy,

I can understand your situation. There will be a delay considering the number of applications that are being processed. Please continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals until payments normalize.

    2. Call them twice a day and tell them you’re willing to wait for as long as it takes to speak to someone who can provide a solution.

      1. All I’m getting is voice mails and automated questions with no relevance to my situation, I got a lot going on with no help, I think it’s redundant and retarted to have to waste an ample amount of time trying to call, when clearly I’m getting no where, I keep pushing my issues and responsibilities off to try and fix my unemployment and food stamps and ect to get no where,

        1. David,

The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. Please visit the website to find the answers.

        1. Erin,

The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. Please visit the website to find the answers.

    3. I have been waiting for an adjustor to be assigned for three months. I send the office a letter everyday and keep track. I understand the Covid situation but this is ridiculous.

      1. Cheryl,

I can understand your situation. There will be a delay considering the number of applications that are being processed. Please continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals until payments normalize.

  10. Have been collecting fine, up til last week. I made money off a 1 time gig. My understanding is that claiming it would just lower my benefit for the week. But I never got my claim. When I lclicked on the details, it showed my claim, plus the same amount as a new part time military employee. So the system thinks I made twice as much. The gig I did had nothing to do with the military. So I typed zero for the military thing and resubmitted, but nothing has happened. And now I haven’t received my claim for this week either. Tried to call and it asked for my social, which it then said was unrecognized. Any thoughts? This is in MA.

  11. My initial claim had to be appealed all because my last employer was accidentally not included. I have been waiting for 2 months for an appeal decision!! I have been trying to contact and speak with someone for 2 months, the appeal is only supposed to take 30 days can I please Speak to a human?? I am unemployed and need the benefits!!

    1. Daniel,

There will be a delay considering the number of applications that are being processed. Please continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals until payments normalize.

    2. Hi, been trying to call for help, tried all morning, can not get through!! I’ve been locked out of my account. I can not bring up my homepage. I’m at a lost as to what to do…

    3. I have been trying to creat a 4 digit password for claining weekly benefits. Could you please contact me to provide the correct information and resolve this ongoing issue? Thank you so much

  12. My wife was laid off her job on May 20. She has tried dozens of times to file a claim online. She can get into her account, but it freezes when she tries to send it. She has called over a dozen times. The answer is always the same. They take her number and tell her she will get a call back, which almost always doesn’t come. When she does get a call back, the person tells her that someone else ! will call her back. the person Who can unfreeze her account is unavailable…Who can we file an appeal with so that she can file her claim?

    1. Mark,

I can understand the situation. It may be a temp. technical issue. Please try with a different browser or call the Unemployment Office for assistance.

    2. I’ve been waiting for 3 weeks without pay.
I’m going to lose my home because my status remains on hold

      1. Sean,

We understand this might be a difficult time for you. We’re anticipating a shortage of staff across unemployment offices due to the massive surge in UI applications considering the pandemic. Please continue chasing the office/checking the status regularly.

        1. Bull fix the problem stop giving a run around and do your jobs or let the ones waiting on their money take over we would like a check

  13. I have applied for Unemployment benefits and did get the first two checks, however I now try to log in online and it says “Confirm your Social Security Number: is not a valid SSN (Social Security Number). Valid formats are XXX-XX-XXXX or XXXXXXXXX (32)” under errors. I noticed the dots that appear in place of my password do not match up to the correct number of characters I type, there is a limit where if I keep typing in that field they won’t show after a certain amount. I also don’t see an option to reset my password to see if that might work. I have tried calling the office and talk to someone to try and resolve this so I can just log in, and i’ll be on hold for about 10 minutes and then it hangs up on me.

    1. I’ve resolved the issue, was a mistake on my end, still not happy that I was on hold and hung up on more than once though

      1. If I went back to work 18 hours last week, but we mail time sheets every 2 weeks and don’t get paid until next week. How do I file if I have no proof of my hours? They hang up when I call unemployment

        1. Patricia,

You should be eligible to continue claiming “Partial UI benefits”. Please explore online.

    2. Bryan,

You might be doing it wrong/might be a temp. technical glitch. Please try to resolve it through DIY.

    3. I file my application on March 22 -2020 they somebody name but on me I tell them to Remove the name is not my jobs I not work for this person they are not doing anything from March to June 19-2020 they are not doing anything I need help please

  14. Hi, I filed for unemployment after I lost my job on March 27. I have not received a check because my status was mistakenly listed as “quit.” I did not quit, and my employer said they will try to help to fix this. I cannot talk or email anyone in Mass UI. This will be my 4th week of not getting a check. I need to speak with an adjustor who I can send information to regarding this claim. Please help. Thank you. Kevin

    1. Kevin,

I can understand your situation. Please wait for an update from the office. There will be thousands of applications for the office to be processed. Make sure to check the status at regular intervals.

  15. Hi. I applied for unemployment I have been approved but have pending issues on my claim. I sent in my documents Multiple times so the pending issues can be updated. I left my contact information on the unemployment website Multiple times still haven’t received a called back to resolve my pending issues on my claim. What should I do?

    1. Chantell,

Please wait. There will be thousands of applications for the office to be processed. Make sure to check the status at regular intervals.

      1. Hi Sam I have a question I applied for unemployment in Massachusetts in March on March 20th.. I didn’t know my exact dates of working so I put March 8th on May 5th the claim was accepted.. so my dates are March 8th until March 8th 2021. I received one payment today but I am unable to figure out how to receive all the back weeks from March. The website says if you applied on or after March 10th you will receive all those payments. I applied March 20th but my effective date is March 8th. I also got an email from my employer saying that I can go back to work.I highly doubt they are going to give me full time hours again so if she continues to schedule me for only 5 or 10 hours can I still collect unemployment? But my main question is am I eligible to receive the month well over a month worth of paymentsand how do I go about doing that cuz when I claimed my first week I was only able to claim that week not the previous ones. Thank you for your time anybody who can answer.

        1. Sandi,

You should still be able to collect partial UI benefits. Please continue claiming for the lost hours.

  16. i am out of work because of Covid19. I applied, and got approved for unemployment on Tuesday March 17. I have no received payment yet. I continue to claim weekly benefits, with hope it will all catch up. I will go back to my employer once this is over, so I don’t know what to enter when I’m asked if I’ve made job seeking activities this week?? Please help

    1. Hi Lindsay,
I saw your question and although I don’t work for the DUA, I will answer it for you because I know the answer and otherwise, nobody will answer it for you and I know how frustrating that is because I have a question I need answered and it’s impossible to get an answer. I filled out their “form” for someone to contact me on Monday morning, which means Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday have gone by, 24 working hours and still, no call, email or text. Useless form in my opinion.
When you’re filling out the questionnaire about your work search for the week, ALWAYS and I stress ALWAYS answer NO until you get to the last question, which has 3 parts and says something like were you available to work? did you look for work? and I forget the 3rd one. Then, when it asks you how many days you looked for work, put 3 every single time. You do not need to add your work search activity log.
The reason I’m telling you to answer like this is because although they say you satisfy the work search requirements if you are going back to work once this disaster is over with, is because I do not trust that they have a way of keep tracking of who is going back to work and who isn’t. I made the mistake of answering “no” to the “were you available to work” once and they didn’t pay me that week. I forget why I answered no, I think I had my wisdom teeth pulled or something, but having your wisdom teeth pulled does not mean they should deny you benefits for that week. So if you answer “no” to “did you look for work” (because you’re going back to your job), it’s possible they will say this person is not satisfying the work search requirement, even though you’re excused from doing that, and it’s possible you wouldn’t get paid, so to play it safe, answer “no” to all questions, until you get to the final 3 part question and answer “yes” every week, every time, and choose 3 for the days you looked for work.
As for your check, it takes a while for them to get you out your first check, however, when they do, it will include all of the weeks that you have filed, checks always go out on a Friday and the first check is always a physical check, then direct deposit kicks in. When you finally do receive a check, you’ll probably get it on a Tuesday and you will also get a direct deposit the same day for the week you just claimed 2 days prior on Sunday, so you get a lot of money at once, but until you do, you just gotta scrape by. I hope this helps.

  17. I was approved for unemployment benefits over 2 weeks ago. On my homepage it shows the claim paid, tax deductions taken but I still have not received my check. Can someone please help.

    1. Jason,

There might be a delay in payment due to the sudden surge in the number of applications. Please keep checking at regular intervals.

    2. My unemployment claim has been approved and it says paid but then under payment issued it says pending. Any idea when this will be sent?

      1. Ariel,

It might take a few days or perhaps be delayed due to the pandemic. Please keep checking the status online at regular intervals.

  18. I applied on the 18th and today it is now finally updated but saying I am not eligible?! I need a call back, I have put in for one pretty much every day since filing, and now I can’t find the page I did it from before. Please help me figure out how to get a call back!

    1. I made a mistake on my initial claim and I submitted a contact form . How long will it take to get contacted my claim should be Covid related but it Appaloosa not.

  19. My husband has been out of work since 3/17/20 due to COVID-19. He have been trying for unemployment benefits for some time. When I go online ( he is pc incompatible) I am stuck at the password reset. The save button will not become active after the required fields are filled out.

    1. Hazel,

Please wait for a day or two for the authorities to change the system in line with the recent announcements.

      1. I have the same problem and i have been trying for 4 days and still nothing…Us americans are out of work and really need this unemployment funds….

I have also requested a call back by phone and have gotten a verification number . This was also on 3/21/2020 . Still no call . Can anyone help this problem

        1. Tim,

This PIN reset is a common issue across. Please keep checking your account at regular intervals. The authorities should come up with a solution soon.

  20. hi i really need help i’ve filled out the unemployment help page like 6 times this week to get a callback but ive received nothing. so my claim went through and i can receive unemployment . however when i try to claim last week the program keeps saying im self employed and it wants me to tell it how many hours i worked. and i haven’t worked since the 14th. im really scared that if i dont figure this out soon im going to loose that week of unemployment benefits.

    1. Meghan,

Please fill out the info to the best of your knowledge. It’s very important to complete the application at this time.

  21. I have claimed 8 weeks and still have not received the money. I have the debit card and I am still waiting. Why is this taking so long? I need help.

        1. Mostafa,

Can you please repost? Apologies, we’re receiving a large volume of comments on a daily basis.

  22. I received a letter stating I could fill out the enclosed wage correction form, it was however not included…where can I find this online?

  23. HELP!! The website is not working properly, I cannot sign in, the verification process doesn’t work, it’s just an endless loop of error messages. I’ve requested a call back twice now but haven’t received that call. They aren’t staffing the phones so there’s no one to call for tech help or to initiate a claim. What can I do?

    1. Sarah,

There will be perhaps no one to call you back. Please try finding answers online since there might be limited phone support due to the shortage of staffing.

  24. My boyfriend needs to get unemployment due to the covid-19. His name was incorrect on the site so he sent the claim online and waited to get a call back. When they finally called back they said he had to go to the office in Boston. We live on Martha’s Vineyard. There is an order for everyone to stay home. That is the reason he is not working. It is not safe for him to get on a boat to go to the office in Boston. Can someone call him? Not an automated machine. So he can resolve this.

    1. Jess,

Please note this is a private forum. Please ask your boyfriend to reach out to the Unemployment Office over the phone.

  25. Due to Clovis-19 pandemic ore non essential business has been forced to close. Both My wife and I solely depend on it being open for our income. I know because we re self employed we don’t contribute to unemployment, which I was unaware, making us ineligible to receive benefits. How can we get financial help.
I was told that there may be exceptions due to the stimulus package that has been passed. Please help. We support a family of 5 and both my parents. I filled out a claim and it states I will not receive no benefits. What should we do?

    1. Anotne,

Please explore other categories of benefits that may be available for you. You can search online with relevant keywords.

    1. Olga,

Please login again and look out for the relevant option. You can also find more details under the resources section.

  26. I have been trying to reach unemployment for two weeks now with no success all i get is a recording telling me to register online for a call back and the website is unavailable. I applied online for unemployment and i have been getting request for a doctor statement when am not sick , am only out of work because they had to close due to COVID-19 . I need someone to help me fix this application because i have been out of work for two weeks now with no money to pay my bills.

    1. Raisa,

We understand this might be a difficult time for you. We’re anticipating a shortage of staff across unemployment offices due to the massive surge in UI applications considering the pandemic. We advise against calling or visiting the office, as you may not get a response instantly.

  27. the website wont let me log on and tells me i have to speak with someone but i cant get a hold of anyone. I am trying to make a claim and need to asap but it seems impossible. please help.

  28. I have been trying to reach Unemployment all week with no success. When I call 617.626.6800 (or 877.626.6800), I get a recording telling me to go to the website for the ‘callback feature’ (and I don’t get an option to speak to anyone). When I go to the website, it says the ‘callback feature’ is unavailable. I also don’t see any email address I can use to get my questions answered and respond to the request for information that I see in my Unemployment profile ‘inbox’. I have two questions I need to get addressed, and both are time sensitive per Unemployment Office requirements. How can I reach someone?

    1. We are sorry to hear about your difficulties. There is a huge shortage of staff across all unemployment offices due to a massive surge in UI applications. We advise against calling or visiting the office, as you may not get a response. We recommend you to apply for UI benefits online. For more information, please visit your state’s official website.

    2. I cant get passed the reset pass word page after the phone verification I get an unexpected error has occurred… been trying since March 19th

  29. I made a mistake on my initial unemployment claim, but I can’t delete the claim or get through to someone on the phone to fix it. Each time I call the center, an automated message says that the office of unemployment telecenter is closed even though their hours are stated as opening at 8:30AM. Any insight? Thank you!

    1. Taylor,

Have you tried the online method? If not, please visit the official website of the Unemployment Office.

  30. I have an existing claim that I’ve had for about a month now but I just recently went bqck to work full time and am looking to open a new claim regarding the coronavirus situation and I have now been laid off. How do i file a new claim even tho i still have an existing separate claim for a totally different reason???

    1. John,

Please visit the Unemployment Office’s website to learn more about emergency funds available in the backdrop of the COVID-19 situation.

      1. Sam im not seeing anything that helps me learn or help my sotuation of trying to open a new claim because i have an existing claim From a month ago still being held up.

      2. I have no way of contacting unemployment because offices are closed for god knows how long… and I can’t log into my account because I forgot my password and when I try to reset it, it says unexpected error. I’m out of work and don’t know what to do… Need a solution!

        1. Drea,

We understand this might be a difficult time for you. We’re anticipating a shortage of staff across unemployment offices due to the massive surge in UI applications considering the pandemic. We advise against calling or visiting the office, as you may not get a response instantly.

Your state may have activated “Extended Benefits (EB)” authorized by the federal government. We recommend you apply for UI benefits online. For more information, please visit your state’s official Unemployment website.

  31. I have been trying to get unemployment for two months. I sent in all requested documents requested by me on the portal twice via priority mail. No reply, no letters, no phones calls. Then I was denied for zero wages after a month! Which was wrong. I immediately sent in an appeal over a month again priority mail. No response! Everyday I spend several hours trying to reach someone by phone and I can’t get through. And the call back feature on the website is broken. I’ve sent letters to both the unemployment office and the commonwealth asking for someone to contact me. No response. This has been a nightmare. Who do I need to contact and for the love of god do not say the Unemployment Office. There must be another resource.

    1. Melissa,

I can understand how it feels to have no response despite all the actions. You can consider visiting an office in the vicinity if feasible.

      1. I went to my local (Lowell) office and it was just a waste of time nobody could be bothered to look at my file.

    2. i’m starting to believe it’s done on purpose. they don’t want to pay you/us any benefits. They just take. the tax payer is the one paying them. I did not ask for this to happen. I too am going on a month with out any funds and no contact with live person. ever see the movie “Falling Down”?

  32. I cannot get to a live person to ask a question. Entering 0 to speak to a rep just resets the automated message.

I just have a question on severance.

      1. can anyone please let me know how to talk to a live person… ive been trying for months, left call back no help………….

  33. I answered two questions incorrectly don’t know how do you contact somebody to correct should I go into the unemployment office in Boston to get this resolved

  34. I was not prompted in the UI system to submit my Jan 5th week. Who do I email/call to get this fixed? My SS # ends in 9 and it keeps telling me I have to wait until Thursday. This is a tech issue. Is there someone who can help me?

    1. Why wait until Thursday? You know you’re supposed to report on Sunday for the previous week. If the computer isn’t working properly, there is a telephone number you can call to call in your unemployment electronically. The key is to call immediately first thing in the morning and not wait until high call volume time later on in the day or evening. If the phone number isn’t working, you should physically go to the nearest UI office and speak with someone.

      1. I’m a union ironworker and attend school for the union as well. They told us we could file when we have school during regular working hours do I did and my claim was denied, I didn’t follow up on it because I didn’t need it. Now, I’m actually laid off and have waited about a month and my claim was denied again. It’s impossible to get in touch with anyone and the lady at the career center in my area I felt was less than polite. Does this mean I will never receive unemployment again? So all the money I pay into it will just be taken by the state? It’s impossible to get in touch with people by phone

  35. I’ve been calling DUA for weeks upon weeks, every day during the week, at every conceivable time and I absolutely can not get through to a real person. I’m constantly cut off and hung up on. Can’t even schedule a call beck time! I live on Martha’s Vineyard, there is NO office here and I can not afford to take the ferry off island. I have two problems that can not be resolved online, I need to speak to someone! How on earth to I get in touch with an actual person? This agency is an absolute embarrassment.

  36. I’ve been waiting for 8 weeks for Renumeration to be complete. No on will answer the phone or they will hang up on you.

      1. Could you please tell me which office I can go to that is able to assist. It’s been going on 7 weeks and I have not receive any compensation. Keep getting hung up on. This is crazy! If our unemployment rate is down why are we still not able to get in touch with a human?
        I live in Seekonk, MA
        Thank you

  37. When I log in as a UI claimant to read my inbox, there is literally no INBOX anywhere! I have information they are requesting that I send or complete but cant get to my inbox to even know what it is that they want. I cant get a phone number to a person to find out what it is they need from me, nor can I get to a person for this tech issue!
The automated system to “request a call back” is telling ME to be the one to call back on Wednesday BUT I’m supposed to file every week on MONDAY and cant because of these issues.
Why does the state of MA literally make it impossible for their citizens to get any help?
Worst state in the entire country!

  38. I have been calling and calling to talk to anyone about my claim that has been pending forever. How am I to get someone on the phone? I am taking care of a sick family member out of state so I can’t stop by an office. How is someone like myself, that can’t go to an office, suppose to get information. How am I to know if there is an issue when nothing is provided online except “pending”and I cannot talk to a single person. I have worked over 30yrs and when I need assistance so I can pay bills, I am not able to get it.

    1. I can understand your situation. If you’re not in a position to visit an office, I suggest you work your way through various phone numbers.

    2. I too have been trying to call for the past three weeks and I get stuck in a never ending loop of automated messaging. I never get an agent. What is happening!?

    3. lCall your local state representative. I had to. They moved quickly after that. They owed me almost 2,000 dollars by the time it was settled.

      1. I’ve gone to my local center and I was told that the only thing they can do is send an email asking them to make my claim a priority. Still nothing! I am on 7 weeks PENDING, I have been successfully evicted as of Nov 30th for non payment of rent, which is caused by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I am not able to search for an apartment because I cannot put a deposit on anything. I have a medical disability and cannot pick up my meds. I have not purchased groceries in 7 weeks, also cannot go to job interviews because I can’t pay for gas. Can’t continue to go to the local center, because I do not have funds for the parking meters. And soon enough my internet and phone will be shut off for non payment. Then I will become ineligible for future benefits because I’ll have no way to claim my weekly benefits. Vicious frustrating circle!!

        1. I’m so sorry for all you’re going through- it’s awful! I sent in a handwritten letter about the need for the agency to understand we are human beings. No one replied.

SNAP assistance should help you very quickly to get some food- other than that I’m not sure what options are “out there”. Good luck!

      2. Sherry,
Thank you for the advice. I reached out to my state rep this morning and received a response within 30 minutes. She has already contacted DUA and I am expecting a call today and my case has been made a priority.

I reached for myself and of you that are experiencing the same problems. My state rep is appalled by their process.

Look up who the state representative is for your city or town and send an email sharing your frustrations. Trust me it will get handled.

        Thanks again Sherry!

  39. I filled out a top application a month ago around my 15th week because it says you have to submit before 20 weeks. I called after 4 weeks and they said my top application was submitted on the on the 30th which would make my 20th week and i would have to wait 4 weeks for a decision. This now puts me at 8 weeks even though it says will take up to 4 weeks. Why would my submit date be a month after i sent it in? Also suppose to start school tomorrow not really sure what to do because if im not receiving unemployment than i cant attend school. Im afraid to start and lose it. What do you suggest?

    1. Peter,

UI benefits are offered to claimants who’re able and available for work. If the schooling hampers your prospect of working a full-time job, you might not continue to be eligible.

      1. I was under the impression that a “top” application extended your benefits while you attended a training program to ensure job placement?

  40. Can’t find my accurate job description in the list that is given on the web application. Can’t get through the telephone loop system to get help with job description over the phone. I need to file my claim. Any suggestions, thanks!

  41. I’ve been waiting 3 months now and nothing. I have 9 weeks plus the waiting week, and have since returned to work, but really need the money I’m owed. Can’t get anyone on the phone and it is annoying. Can they help us at the career centers that are listed on the UI website, or do you have to go to the main office in downtown Boston?

      1. I went to one location off their list and they told me that the only place that could help me was the office in downtown Boston. So I’ll be going to Boston later this week.

        Thanks for the tip.

  42. Sam, How long is the process time for unemployment? My claim is 6 weeks old and is still waiting for an adjuster to update my information. Please have this completed asap. I would love to hear from you. CLAIMANT ID:   10578286

    1. Bethany,

It should not take 6 weeks for sure unless they keep you informed about a possible delay. Please reach out to the Unemployment Office for an update.

      1. I have- they are not available. This is painful- what can you do to expedite this process? They said everything is fine and to wait….CLAIMANT ID: 10578286

        1. Bethany,

Please note this is a private forum and we do not have access to your claim. Please reach out to the Unemployment Office.

      2. I have applied and I have not heard anything back I am getting kind of sick of it because I’m also raising my grandson was only 6 months old I need somebody to get back to me and every time I call on the line it does not give me an option to leave a message or to speak to anybody

        1. Belinda,

I can understand your situation. Please try calling the phone during off-peak hours and also consider visiting an office in the vicinity if that’s convenient.

  43. I no longer have the email address from 25 years ago when I applied years ago. And when I try and put the city I was born in, it says I’m wrong. Need to file a new claim how do I get past this pre-recorded loop

      1. Sorry Sam, but your advice about calling the Claims Center for assistance is nonsense. My brother has been trying to do that for two weeks, to no avail. He puts in the 1st 4 letters of the city he was born and the system says it’s wrong. How stupid is that? He can’t get through to ANYONE – claims center or otherwise since he cannot get through this question. Now what?

        1. Gail,

I can understand your situation. In that case, the best option would be to consider visiting an office in the vicinity.

  44. i am so stressed out i have the same question, applied june27.2019 it’s aug 13 and my case is still pending i’ve been told so many times that they’re 6-8 weeks behind , alas all 8 checks( including 0.00 for the waiting period week are on hold, does anyone know who i can ask for at the teleclaim center to get an adjuster to take my case? i never heard of unemployment adjusters doing one case at a time , seems inefficient at best,

    1. I had the same issue filed my claim in June 2019. I just got everything resolved in August. If there are multiple pending issues you will definetley be waiting. Inform them you would like to have it escalated. You have every right. That’s what I did and an adjuster was assigned right away.

    2. I’m having same issue and now I can’t get a rep on the phone. I keep getting the auto line info only. Applied july2 and nothing yet.

  45. Can I get the list of questions I listen to when I call each week to apply for unemployment? Questions I listen to on the phone. I couldn’t understand one question and was denied completion. I’m 68 years old and it would be easier to read it and listen to it at the same time. Please help.

  46. cant get thru because agent gave me a mispelled password…I need unemployment to call me…can’t move thru website or get thru phone….help!

    1. Felicia,

You should be able to fix it with a phone call to the Claims Office. Please call them right away and report the issue.

      1. Sam,
I don’t think you are understanding our comments here. WE CANNOT GET THROUGH TO ANY OF THE DEPARTMENTS VIA PHONE!!!! EVER!!!
AT the end of the message stating “all reps are busy, if you would like a call back please enter a time to be called back” every time slot is either :00 or :30. NO SLOTS ARE EVER AVAILABLE then they hang up on you. Maybe the State Rep would be interested in hearing from all of us. Maybe we should start a petition to CHANGE this frustrating process. It’s bad enough that we get put in an unexpected position of losing our job / income, worse when we cannot get help from the people who are supposed to help us.

    2. There’s really only
Only day you can call and have a chance of getting through, depending on your social:
If the last digit of your Social Security Number is: TeleClaim is:
      0, 1 Monday
      2, 3 Tuesday
      4, 5, 6 Wednesday
      7, 8, 9 Thursday
      Any last digit Friday

Once you enter your social, if it isn’t your day to call the line will just disconnect. Friday anyone call call- and does. So you won’t through that day. You basically have to start on your day the second they open and often times they are already maxed out. Good luck everyone. It’s the most stressful and infuriating system. Don’t forget your deep breathing!

  47. How can I reset my “Forgot Password” phone number. No longer have that number so unable to receive a text to verify.

  48. Have been unable to get through to the Telecenter or to schedule a callback for three days, says it’s maxed out at 8:30.
    Anyone else?

    1. Nope. Never. I keep getting terminated. And it takes forever to get through to even enter your SSN. Absolutely horrible service.

  49. I started my claim a month ago. The company i worked for shut down. I filled out the questionnaire and misunderstood the question “discharged” when i should i have checked off “laid off”. I called and spoke to someone and they said someone needs to review the case. Even the random lady i got on the phone had heard of the company shutdown said there was alot of claims from there i dont understand why she wasnt able to just change it. All my fellow employees have been getting paid and now im stuck waiting months. How long does it take for someone to review my case?

    1. Tony,

It’s better if you call the office again to get a sense of the turnaround time. Make sure to chase at regular intervals until a decision is made.

      1. Write an online complaint to your States Attorneys office explaining how Unemployment is refusing to pay you and that they will not rectify the problem on your claim. I have made 2 complaints to the Massachusetts States Attorney and it seemed to have helped my claim. Mass. DUA needs to be put on blast for their horrible customer service and their inability to follow through on fixing peoples claims! After being hung up on 5 times by a claims specialist I decided to file a complaint. Good Luck! Stay Safe! ?
