New York Unemployment Weekly Claims

In order to receive benefits every week, you must continue to file for UI, this is called weekly certification or continued claim. The purpose of filing weekly claim is to let the state know that-

  • You are still unemployed
  • You are available, willing and physically capable of doing full time work
  • You continue to meet the eligibility requirements laid down by the state
  • You did not have any income during that week

  1. I have been receiving Unimployment and returned to work two weeks ago and worked three days 03-21to03-27 then two days 03-28 to04-03 am I eligible to receive benefits for those weeks

    • Please call the claims center of the Unemployment Office in your state to report.

      You will not be eligible to receive UI for the week where you’ve earned income.

    • The first check takes about 7-10 working days to be processed and disbursed.

      If you do not hear within this turn around time, please call the claims center.

  2. I have received all of my weekly benefit claim checks except the very first week that was originally held back from me. Am I entitled to that money also. Am I entitled to 26 weeks of unemployment or just the 25 weeks that I was given, and if so you can I contact with this concern.

    • You should be eligible to receive a check for the first week as well, unless they have explicitly provided a reason for doing so.

      Please call the claims center on the numbers provided for an update regarding this.

  3. I believe that week starting April 7 was not entered for weekly claims benefits. Just received first check. Want to know if that week is in. Also I faxed an additional quarter of earnings so is my earnings corrected and adjusted. Don’t have a personal computer so can you please call me at 347-592-9469. Thank you.

  4. I’m trying to claim my weekly benefits. Where do I go to do that online. Still haven’t received info on how much or when I will start receiving a check. Can you help me?

  5. I got a call stating I didn’t file for waiting week and website states I did and will not allow me to file. what do I do now. this has been going on for weeks haven’t received unemployment benefits going on 4 weeks.
