  1. I am a resident of New York State. From September 2014 through September 2016 I worked full time for a company located in Jersey City. The job was temporary; I left that job in September 2016 to take another temporary job in New York State (the job in Jersey City ended one week after I left). I have worked in New York state until the beginning of April, when the job ended.
May I collect unemployment from New Jersey due to the two years I worked there previously?

  2. NJ is claiming overpayment by over $900. When it gets paid back how do we get an adjusted 1099-G to reflect the lower amount of income to file with our federal return?

      1. Thank you. We have called the claim center multiple times, left messages each time and no one has called us back. Is there a direct number to get a hold of someone?

        1. I am pretty sure there are no direct phone numbers. Perhaps, you can check on the official website.

  3. My husband applied for umemployment back in June of 2016. He was approved to receive benefits. Before he received anything, he died through suicide. I explained that in an interview with Unemployment. I was told to fill out forms when I obtained his death certificate and send them in. I did so. I was called in September and was asked if I sent in the forms and where I sent them. I explained I did send them in, and gave the address. The lady stated that was the correct address and that she would check on the status of my check. I was informed that I was entitled to a one time check in the amount of between $5,000 and $10,000. I never heard back from anyone. In December 2016 I called Unemployment and waited on hold for OVER FIVE HOURS. I explained the situation. I was told I had to wait for a letter in the mail. I explained that I had RECEIVED the letter. I was trying to see the status of the check and if it had been sent as I had NOT received anything. I was told I needed to speak to another department, the Jurisdiction Dept. I believe it was. Again I was told I needed to wait for a letter. Again I explained I had received it and sent it back and received a phone call confirming such. She offered to have her supervisor call me back but that she would just “tell me the same thing”. I asked if there was a phone number, an address, or any contact information of any kind that I could contact the Jurisdiction Dept with to check on the status. I was told NO. I HAD TO WAIT FOR A LETTER. I NEVER received the phone call from the supervisor. I have NOT received a check or a letter. I HAVE NOTHING. No income since MAY OF 2016. I am a widow. I have lost my car and I’m going to lose my HOUSE. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CHECK. I have waited long enough. I need real help from someone there. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!
