Pennsylvania Unemployment Office Locations

Do you need help applying for Unemployment Compensation, filling out your weekly certification, or addressing some other problem collecting benefits? Pennsylvania residents can contact or visit the PA UC Office, where staff are available to help. There are several ways to reach out, but no matter how you do, it’s best to have any relevant information organized and on hand.

If you are not able to connect to the agency via phone or if you have doubts that were not answered by the FAQ section on the website, it would wise to visit the agency and interact face to face with the staff to clear your concerns.

UC service centers in any state face maximum traffic during Mondays. Hence claimants are directed to place calls Tuesday through Friday to get better services.

There is likely a PA unemployment office in your town or county, most states have one in every county. Be prepared through. Many people are applying for unemployment at the same time, and your local Pennsylvania unemployment office could be crowded, and you might have to wait in long lines in order to see someone.

By making a choice on the area map, you can obtain a list of these offices and other services accessible in your area.

  1. I have had my account hacked twice. I called the fraud line and reported the first event, I filed a police report, and the lady who helped me with the fraud line was able to update my payment information to a debit card. My account was hacked a second time and now I am unable to update the fraudulent banking information back to my bank account, nor select debit card. I have to contact the treasury department but I was only able to get through one time without being disconnected. The one time my call wasn’t hung up I was placed on hold for 3 hours, then the call hung up…

I am missing three unemployment payments, and I am unable to file for any new payments until I get ahold of the Treasury Dept. The phone like doesnt allow for any calls to go through, I emailed them weeks ago and haven’t heard back anything.

Is there an office I can go to so I can speak with an actual person?? If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them…

    • Dear Sh,
Here are my suggestions. First, contact your local representative (US Congressman or woman) and explain what has happened. It’s a longshot but sometimes an intern is willing to help. Second, keep sending emails to the Treasury Department, and keep making attempts to call them. I know it’s frustrating but you have to be methodical and persistent. Call every Wednesday (or whatever day) on a schedule. I will assume you can Google as well as I can, so you’ve already used:

      <>

You might also try the fraud line again and ask if they have suggestions on how to move forward. Perhaps you can try a new debit card?

I don’t have a quick fix because when you can’t reach a gov’t agency there often is no recourse, which is why I always suggest contacting your state or district representative. They are paid to help you solve problems with the government.

      Best,
      Jean

  2. You let me know when Ill be there. 6 months no pay they have been screwing me since April of 2020 after 30 yrs of work. What happened to the 33million acquired in the lawsuit with IBM. It does not cost that much to have someone answer the phone and give you a ticket number

    • Jonathan,

I can understand the reason for your frustration. Please consider the option of visiting an office in the vicinity if safe and feasible (you might be required to book an appointment prior to the website).

  3. Been trying to reopen my unemployment for two months now with this new website its telling me I already have a user name and password it gives me the user name which its something I would have never used but I was locked out the account when I tried resetting the password because the security questions I was getting incorrect because again k never set them up untried calling unemployment each time I was place in line with a ticket no one ever called me and my ticket numbers been went by, I went to career link they stated they have nothing to do with the user name and passwords and that unemployment needs to stop directing people to them I’m so frustrated at this point I don’t know what else to do looking for work has been so hard I been working temp jobs sense I was laid off the last 3 months I been needing to sign back up for unemployment but I can’t even login to setup an account please direct me to someone that can help oh I even called my local commissioner office they was no help either

    • I am having the exact same issue and it is impossible to get through to anyone. I also took the same steps. Career link, ticket number, calling all day. Still no help. Robbing a bank seems more efficient than dealing with unemployment. I wonder if they care I may be homeless soon if I can’t pay rent?

      • Danielle,

Please consider the option of visiting an office in the vicinity if safe and feasible (you might be required to book an appointment prior to the website).

        • How can you book an appointment or visit a location when they are not giving out any information online regarding phone numbers, if they are open, hours etc.

        • You are full of it no office listed in Luzerne County…been trying going on two months…I guess I should be a minority to get special treatment….working all my life now no help from my government….

        • Leonard,

I can understand your situation. Please call the Unemployment Office (try during off-peak hours).

    • We shall protest outside of the unemployment offices contact our local news so they can get the cameras out there because the state of Pennsylvania is stealing people’s unemployment money. And they have the nerve to have a fraud site up when they are the ones that is stealing money

    • We should all protest in front of the offices get news cameras out there to get the word out that PA is robbing people of there unemployment benefits. And they have a nerve to have all this setup for fraud when they are stealing our money.

  4. I JUST NEED TO KNOW MY PIN TO ACCESS MY 1099-G FORM AND I CANNOT GET THROUGH. I HAVE CALLED FOR DAYS WITH JUST A BUSY LINE. I NEED TO FILE MY TAXES!!!!!! HOW IS THE SYSTEM THIS FLAWED!!!! CAN SOMEONE PLEASE ACTUALLY HELP ME?

  5. I have tried to call the PA Claims Center 25 times and cannot get through. I have also tried the online chat feature for the last 2 weeks and I get an automated message saying how busy they are. I filed my original UC Claim on August 16, 2020 and was approved right away. I never received my debit card and filed my first bi-weekly claim on 9/4/20 for 2 weeks in August! Where is my debit card? Can you please have someone call me?

    • We should all protest outside of the unemployment offices contact our local news so they can get the cameras out there because Pennsylvania is robbing people of their unemployment benefits. And they have some nerve to have a fraud site when they are the one that is stealing money

      • This is so frustrating! Have been trying for three weeks, same thing I can’t login , keeps saying I have a keystone number already. I went through the ID.me process that took 2 weeks. Worked straight for 27 years , first time have ever been laid off. This is a Broken A- system! You’re damn sure they take your money every paycheck but take their good old time when you need them to give you the money that you’ve been putting in there for years because your company closed.

        • Sophia,

I can understand how frustrating it can be! Please consider the option of visiting an office in the vicinity if safe and feasible (you might be required to book an appointment prior to the website).

      • The only way to resolve issues is by organizing. I have been waiting 5 months, and these Evil people will not even respond to email. Just a quick note to confirm what I know as fact-they are not going to do a damn thing for me.

We need to orgainze and get in their face. And then we need to replace this Government because it iis just not working. Except the IRS,they seem extremely efficient there when they steal your money for absolutely nothing in return.

ORGANIZE! It is the only thing way for us peasants,Government playthings they like to torture, to get any result.

    • If you need to search for jobs, you must go to your local PA CareerLink office. The UC service centers are all locked facilities with only phone banks accepting unemployment benefit calls. I am a PA CareerLink employee in the Armstrong County office.

      • Why? Why should I get a job? So I can pay taxes to a Government that completely ignores me in my time of need. After literally 10s of thousands of unaswered calls, countless email, and begging Politicians to help, all to no avail,I ask why.

At this point in time,if I get a job it will be under the table. 30 million illegls seem to make it work. And our Government makes sure they are taken care of while screwing legal taxpayers.

And no Moderator,I’m not foolish enough to think you will let this reply be posted.

      • I have tried to call the PA Claims Center exactly 389 times and cannot get through. I have also tried the online chat feature for the past 6 days and cannot get connected. Can you please have someone call me ? I filed my original UC Claim on Dec 15th and have finally been approved to receive benefits.

        • We are a private organization whose purpose is to create a single platform for all unemployment insurance-related information. We are not a government website. There is a huge shortage of staff across all unemployment offices due to a massive surge in UI applications. We recommend you to apply for UI benefits online. For more information, please visit your state’s official website.

  6. Is the FAX machine turned ON at the ERIE office? I’ve been trying to fax since 8 am this morning. It’s now after 10 am. I’ve been getting the busy signal all morning long. Even tried to call the 800 number to the office to speak with someone. No luck.

    • I need help, I am not sure if I did anything wrong filing my biweekly claim. I have had a major stroke a year ago and sometimes get Q frazzled working online. Is there a way someone could check if i made an error, and if so, if there is a way to correct?

  7. I don’t understand why this office is so dysfunctional. You expect so much from us just to be able to receive a small amount of benefits, and yet your centers don’t allow us to perform our duties. I’ve been calling and checking the internet constantly to be able to file my bi-weekly claims and I get no responses. It’s Wednesday at 10:30 am and the system states the offices are closed? The internet claiming system has been down for days? And I can bet that if I’m unable to file within the week (due to the office’s dysfunction) I won’t receive my benefits. This is utterly ridiculous.

    • Same here I called the unemployment number today and it said it dont exists. Wow. Also I dont see my payment posted yet for wed nov. 21, 2018 on the internet. This been going on for 2 weeks now.

  8. THE PA UNEMPLOYMENT SYSTEM IS FLAWED. YOU MUST REGISTER ON JOB GATEWAY TO RECEIVE BENEFITS. WE DID THAT AND WE GOT A LETTER SAYING WE WERE GONNA LOSE BENEFITS BECAUSE WE WERE NOT REGISTERED. I WENT BACK IN UPDATED MY HUSBANDS RESUME AND SEARCHED FOR JOBS. I THEN GET A LETTER LAST WEEK SAYING WE HAVE LOST OUR BENEFITS BECAUSE HE WAS NOT REGISTERED. 9. I tried on Thursday 12/28/2017 for 1hr. in the morning to get through then I tried in the afternoon for 1/2 and hour and then from 3:30 till 4:10 and busy ever time!!!! All I want to do is reopen my existing claim without all their non-understandable questions online that don’t make sense. They really need a separate phone number for people that just need to reopen a claim. I’m so sick and tired of trying to get through!!! Thank good I don’t have to do this much!!!!!!

  10. filed my initial claim for uc during 2nd week of February 2017 and keep on filing biweekly till date but I did not received any benefit so far.Sent an appeal on 4/20/17. Is there anyway why why I am not getting UC?

  11. On March 4, 2017, I applied for unemployment. Today, March 11, I received a phone call requesting copies of my paystubs to verify gross pay. When I sent the email, it didn’t go through. Said was undeliverable. I tried calling the tollfree number and the number of my local office but I was unable to get through. The tollfree number was the same that I received the call from but I got a message that the office was closed. Same with the local office. So how can I send my paystub copies? I don’t have access to a fax.

    • If the claims were not paid previously as per the timelines, please call the Claims Center to inquire about the delay. They may come together or be paid separately.

  12. Have been trying to reach (at least 100 calls at various times during the day) unemployment unsuccessfully since December when I wanted to update part time job contacts etc. I have actually gotten through a few times only to wait in the cue for hours and have been disconnected or had to hang up. I was let go from this position and my claim is on hold because they need more information. Is there a better fax number to forward details? I tried Lancaster and it said the number has been disconnected. Thank you for any assistance you can offer.

  13. I have been trying for a month to re-open my claim. Like everyone else, I can’t get through, busy. I can’t remember my pin. The closet Center to me is an hour and half away. I only get partial. What are we supposed to do. There is 2 weeks I can claim and there is a time limit on these. I already missed the one in December due to not being able to get through. I have already put a call through to my state legislation.

  14. I have been trying to call since January. I only get a busy signal! I was laid off in mid September. For some reason my benefits became inactive. I have not received any benefits since the last week in December. I tried reopening my claim. It told me it was accepted and to file on Feb 5th. Now it says it is not active and I have to reopen my case! My bills are piling up and I can not get any help. I have sent several emails. I do not know if there is a local office in Allentown. We do have a career link.

  17. Can someone please tell me where the Philadelphia office is located? I am having a problem that I need to get resolved rather quickly.

    Thank you.

    • Please search for “Careerlink” office in search engines.

As far as I am aware, the agency does not host service at their offices anymore.

  18. All uc offices are closed down because of our fabulose goverment. I think thsy should have to go with out pay for a month see how yhey like it

  19. I reopened an existing claim over a month ago online without any issues. I haven’t received any direct deposit or updated info from the office. All of a sudden my pin number doesn’t work so I can’t get an update on the status of my claim. I’ve called the office a million times like everyone else complaining and constantly get the busy signal. I also emailed uccclaims@pa.gov twice to see if I can get an update on the status and/or change my PIN. Can you please provide me with a way to resolve this? This is really been a stressful burden on me and I’m sure there are plenty of others out there worse off than me. I appreciate any help you can provide thanks.

    • Well, I can understand your frustration.

The only option left for you is to explore the office available in the vicinity and visit the nearest one for resolution.

  20. HI Martin, After reading all the questions sent to you, everyone has the same complaint about the busy signals in Pa. People have been trying to call the unemployment Center, both local and the 800 number for now over two months. I have been calling for a month, because I did receive my last two checks. I did look it up on the website and the last payment to me was in the beginning of December, 2016. I still have money left and everything looks fine form the web site. I even left a note through the contact link and no response.
If this is a phone problem it should not take two months to be repaired. Someone needs to take a step further. We can’t keep hearing the same response, there are problems with Pa phone lines. Two months is not acceptable (maybe two days)
Please take that extra step for all of us. WE need to pay our bills. Thank you for anything you can do for us.

    • Lisa,

Thank you for writing to us. We’re a private forum with limited resources to reach out to the state authorities. Perhaps, you can explore the options available on a forum such as change.org and bring like-minded people together.

Please let me know how it goes.

    • I live 2 hours away from the UC center designated to my zip code. I tried calling so many times that my phone crashed, and I had to factory reset. I have begun dialing before the office’s opening time and have gotten a busy signal every time. I have tried using the chat with no success. I have sent emails with no response. Surely, there must be a solution to this problem. I have questions that cannot be answered or have not been answered through email or an automated response service. I have not but will try contacting my local PA representative’s office. This is nuts!

  21. I live in p.a called the unemployment line 276 times yesterday all busy called today 76 times is there any other # I can call to speak to someone asap

  23. Good morning,
I am currently on hold for over 3 hours now. I’m trying not to get frustrated. On the web site it clams there is an issue with my claim, payment can’t be made until issues are resolved. It’s been 8 weeks. I can’t get through to anybody. Either busy at all times, or on hold for 4 hrs. Or so until I hang up. Any advice at all would be great.

  25. Hi!

I have A CONFIRMATION for weeks 12/10 and 12/17, that I filed on Dec.19th, but I have not received any payment. I have tried calling the 888 #, plus the Lancaster and Allentown branch numbers, to no avail – just a constant busy signal. I have tried calling during off-peak hours and still get a busy signal.
Should I just show up at one of the centers and try to talk to a representative? I did email the contact us address with the details but have not heard anything from them via email or phone either.
Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Gail

  27. If I am paid bi-weekly, and one week I work 36 hours and the next week I work 48 hours, how would I collect unemployment since it only asks me my total pay for one week? Also the week it asked me to put down my hours for was my short week.

  28. I have been calling, getting put on hold, and then being hung up on, only to have to call in again on hold or with a busy signal.

I dont want to file, but have little choice. This is extra demoralising.

    • I can understand your frustration. Please try calling during the off-peak hours or log into your account online for claim information.
