If I take a job as a consultant then get fired can I collect benefits?

An employee wants to hire me as a consultant for 6 months. If after the 6 months I have not met their requirements they will let me go. Can I go back to collecting unemployment even if I was a consultant?

If you are self employed you are ineligible for unemployment.
