IF your handbook policy states the employee is encouraged to give a one or 2 week notice of resignation, and you do, and then are fired without cause.

Then you "may" have a legal claim of wrongful discharge. It depends on the case law in your state on how much the courts adhere to handbook policies as implied contracts.
