FL question. Last day at work was 11/15/2012. Laid off due to no cause of my own. Received severance pay. How do I calculate amount received in severance when answering application questions for FL Unemployment? Do I divide amt by quarters or 12 months or what? Do I use net amt or gross amt of severance pay when calculating the "base year".
Since I recd severance I was told I had to wait 1 year from last date of work to file in FL which would have been 11/15/2013. Is this correct? What if I did NOT apply for benefits on 11/15/13 & waited until Jan 2014? Any consequences? Thank you.

You will not be eligible to file till the time severance is being paid out. There are no consequences for not applying from the time you had no income.

Each state has their own methodology on calculation. Please speak to a representative from the Florida claims center for specific questions on filing.
