How long does it take to resolve Pended nj unemployment claim

I had to leave my home temporarily for three weeks do to domestic violence. I requested personal time from my employer to address housing and abuse issues the day it happened. I have children. A police report was filed and injuries recorded. My employer after five days of not responding to me while I was hiding from my spouse terminated me saying I was not eligible for fmla.

Briefly during that hiding period on the second day  I informed my boss I had only the clothes on my back no money and no cell phone. I went two days with no phone no way to contact anyone until a friend bought me a new phone. I immediately did try to contact my employer again before the termination but she never responded. (The aforementioned 5 days)

I applied for unemployment dec 22 and my interview was not scheduled until jan 29. I did as the examiner requested and faxed domestic violence police report as well as termination letter from employer acknowledging the domestic violence but that I was being termed for not being eligible for fmla. I also faxed letter from counselor confirming she treated me for domestic violence over a three week period.

My claim is still Pended as of feb 10. I have no money or way of feeding my children or keeping us sheltered. Why is it taking so long considering I sent the interviewer proof of domestic violence and termination letter from my employer?

I can understand your plight. They must not keep you waiting for such a long period.

Please follow up immediately with the labor department in NJ if you have any specific phone numbers or you can try the toll free no. on 888-795-6672.
