I was hired as a lube technician, not a mechanic, at a car dealership at an hourly "on the clock" rate. I have no factory mechanical training on this particular brand of car. I am told that "changes are being made" and I am to become a flat rate, not hourly, mechanic starting tomorrow. I will not make anywhere near my present take home pay. Can I file if I quit and look for another job?

If you resign voluntarily, you will may not be eligible.

Try speaking to a senior decision making executive to see if there can be a change in the role.
