I own 1/10 of my business. The other 2 partners own 45% each. They are selling the business and I will get a small amount of what I had originally invested a few years ago. Can I still collect unemployment right away or is there a penalty because I will be receiving my share of the company?  This will be the only money I have and want to keep it as security for my family's future.

Self employed are generally not eligible for UI benefits as you would have not paid into the state taxes if I am not wrong.
