You can keep track of your claims to determine when your unemployment benefits will be exhausted. Your state unemployment office sends you a notice of financial determination after they review your initial claim. The letter will explain the maximum amount you are eligible to collect. It will also include your weekly benefit amount and the number of weeks you can collect.

They will send you a letter a couple of weeks before your claim has been exhausted to tell you that your benefits will be ending soon. After the claim is exhausted the state reviews your claim, determines if you are eligible for an extension, and will send you a new notice of determination.
