Can my mother who is 86 recieve unemployment due to downsizing company?

I have a mother who is 86, has worked for my father - now deceased - then brother took over company. Today says he can no longer pay her due to medical bills of his own. Can she file for unemployment? thank you

She should call the unemployment office to find out. If she paid onto it through the deductions from her earnings or if her employer paid it for her the answer is most likely yes.
