  1. Hello my name is Elizabeth and I have some questions that I need to ask somebody about falling unemployment. I’m sorry I have quite a few. So if I can get someone to call me back if y’all can do that or have time to do that that would be great if so you can contact me at 901-355-58 49. If not I’ll try to call back later. Right now the phone is not working right. Thank you for your time

  2. I have been waiting for my unemployment benefits for 2 months. I recently called to see what was taking so long and I was told that an adjudicator hasn’t been assigned to my claim. How can I get in contact with the adjudication office to speed this up? I have bills to pay and starting my probation soon. I am also pregnant with my first child. Waiting for my claim to be approved is causing me to stress more because I am currently unable to get a job due to the pandemic and having a criminal record on my background. Please help.

    • Tanaria,

Please check the paperwork. The adjudicator’s contact details should be available. You can also try logging onto your account to see if contact details are available.

      • Hello how do I talk to an judicator my case has been open and pending since 06/13/2021 and I keep being told my claim has to be seen by an judicator and they did like 4 or 5 tickets on my case ti bump my application up. What do I do?

        • Sakinah,

Please follow up with the adjudicator if you have his/her contact details. Else, you can call the Claims helpline.

    • Chad,

Contact details of the adjudicator will be made available when he/she is appointed. Please visit the Unemployment Office website for more.

  3. My unemployment says payment overpaid but I have never received a payment. It also says my unemployment was sent to my account but I never gave an account. Says they paid me on the 9th. IO never got it. what should i do?

      • Unemployment never sent me my benefits in 12/2020 and it is May 2022. I have gone through fraud department then adjudicator and never got a letter. All they keep telling me is to log into my account or send an email. After sending email I get a ticket number in one email and in another email a survey if I was satisfied or dissatisfied with rep. I am so angry that no one can ever give me an answer and they all know that it does not take over a year to solve anything especially since the person who tried to commit the fraud never got the money. I worked for the benefits and when I needed them the most, I was handled very unprofessionally.

      • Please I beg you. Please help me get my claim process. Ive never had so many problems getting money rightful mine. I’ve sent in multiple statement from the university I work. I’ve not gotten paid in months. I’ve had to give up my car. And do without food alot because of this matter going on and on. I’m promise with my life I’m not a fraud case. My name is Aimee Ables of 108 county road 569 Englewood Tennessee 37329.. 414516585 please please help. All I do is cry about this matter cause no one cares or willing to help me.

        • Aimee,

Unfortunately, we cannot do much. This is a private forum and we do not have access to your claim file. Please consider the option of visiting an office in the vicinity if safe and feasible (you might be required to book an appointment prior on the website).

  4. Please someone help me I am so confused. I did my second application for unemployment in January. It just kept saying “In progress” . I haven’t worked in a year and I have used up most of my savings and have bills piling up. Now it tells me I did an address change. I did Not. It also says I am disqualified? I need help. I have called phone number after phone number and get no help. I don’t know what else to do anymore.

    • That status checker does not update . I kno someone getting benefits and still says under review on tracker . Mayb if they update that a lot of us would kno more when we waiting 12-13 weeks and still nothing

        • Tony,

Please note this is a private forum and your query can not be actioned. Kindly contact the Unemployment Office.

      • same thing is happening to me. I sat in the chat for 5+ hours today and the agent came into the chat and immediately left without saying a thing. I was not navigating other pages. I literally mean he was in the chat for maybe 3 seconds and left. What a joke this is.

  5. I have been trying to call, email & use the chat system for weeks now. All I need to do is reopen an existing claim. TN informed me that I had exhausted my benefits, so I attempted filing through VA, where I currently am. I was informed that there are still benefits payable to me through TN, but trying to reach them is ridiculously impossible. I got through on one call a few days ago, & the woman had me on speaker & acted as if she couldn’t hear me. Every other call that day went through. There is no issue with my phone or internet. I’ve been on hold with the chat system since 9am today. I’ts now 12:40 pm. I keep getting booted back to the virtual assistant for whatever reason. I know TN is not this busy- other states answer within hours if not immediately. People need help, & no one is returning any call, email or chat. This is ridiculous. My other comment was apparently deleted, so I’ll copy this & paste if it’s deleted again.

  6. My name is David Drake jr. I filed for unemployment back in August it took me back to February I filed weekly claims every week beginning in February up unroll last got everything caught up filed my claim an on my dashboard it still says in progress I’ve called twice a week since August an same meseges every time leave name and number and will get back to you I have not talked to a live person yet this is total B S I know they’re not that dam busy that it takes 6 months to look at a claim it still says in progress I am now homeless because of it what’s the problem why can’t they return a dam phone call

    • I’ve had the same problem. I filed in July and it just says “In Progress”. I’ve never received a payment and when you submit a ticket they close it out without contacting you. Its very sad that Tennessee does this to their people. The people that work at the department of labor wouldn’t have a job if it weren’t for those of us that do not have a job. I’m filing a complaint with Governor Lee’s office there has to be someone that can help.

      • Same. I already complained to the Governor’s office as well. I filed in July and was approved. STILL no payment and they “escalated” the claim 3 weeks ago. I’m about to hire an attorney.

        • I filed last august I was thinking it was just me that’s been waiting close to year. I stayed on the chat from 7:30 to 12 and when they got they told me they have to send my claim to the DOL when it’s clearly been in adjudication since September 2020. I need to know who I can contact.

        • Lakesha,

The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. Please consider the option of visiting an office in the vicinity if safe and feasible.

    • David,

Please try finding answers online since there might be limited phone support due to the shortage of staffing.

      • My payment was approved on3/24/20 sent to the wrong bank so was rejected and they sent me a card. Got the card the first of April and here it is may 12 and nobody can tell me where my payment is or how longer before they resend it. Its been 8 months since I filed.

        • Same exact thing except in may 2020, they sent my back pay to a card I have never had. They sent me a new one with my back pay on it. Now one year later, after they let my claim sit for 3 months before a decision was entered into the unemployment system (they had the decision a few days after I filed in February but someone failed at their job at the unemployment office and never entered it into the system)
I got a letter in may 2021 saying they sent my $3000 back pay to the same card in the letter from may 2020 which obviously the unemployment office was aware for an entire year that I had a new card that I was getting paid on. I am currently looking for my money everyday between Way2go and unemployment while they blame each other. Not having a clue who to contact about this and get real answers about where my deposit is and how it’s possible to have an open claim with successful payments every week yet my back pay gets sent to a non existent card for the second time

        • Stacey,

There will be a delay owing to a shortage in staffing. Please follow up regularly.

  7. Can I get someone to look at my claim? It’s been 5 months and nothing. I have lost everything because you dont get weekly checks. Can someone please look! Here it is Christmas. Need money to do anything. This is crazy!

    • David,

I can understand your situation. The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. Please continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals until payments normalize.

  8. I was trying to get an extension of unemployment benefit. I inadvertently open a whole new claim. Can you help me?

    • I am trying to get a hold of someone to find out the status of my claim which is the best email and phone number in Nashville to update and find out details

      • Jennie,

The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. Please visit the website to find the answers.

      • Foreal,

The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. Please visit the website to find the answers.

    • my last check of $6 is all I have and had to wait on that before I could file extension, which is a JOKE! The website is garbage! I’ve known folks to file and get thousands in back pay, I am missing 5 months of back payments and multiple emails and the reply I get was, if this is resolved please let us know in a reply. OF COURSE IT’S NOT RESOLVED! now my claim is 0.00 so God only knows if I’ll get any back pay! Beyond ridiculous! So while us out here, are going hungry, and losing our vehicles homes ect that we have worked hard for years to get, I hope whoever designed this website are happy and can sleep well at night knowing how many people are suffering due to this! Same with the stimulus they have dragged their heals to pass, I can bet none of them or their family members are missing a meal, or they would’ve passed it before the first ran out!

    • With my husbands I went in like I was filing a new claim. There it had most of his info saved, after a few questions they asked. It later asked if he was filing an extension I clicked yes.

    • Kathy,

The E.U.C(Emergency Unemployment Compensation) remains expired. There is no extension available. Please inquire further with the labor authorities in your state by calling them.

      • I got approved and was paid for the first 2 weeks of unemployment. Now when I certify weekly it says . I can’t file a weekly certification for this claim. I’ve called and sent messages and done the live chat and all but cantnever get anyone on the phone. What does that mean when it says I can’t certify

        • Brandy,

The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. Please visit the website to find the answers.

  9. I have bad asthma and according to the CDC I’m not supposed to go back to work until phase 3 and I’ve submitted all the documents I need to but my unemployment case says it’s under review all of the sudden with no explanation. I haven’t spoken with a live person any time I’ve called about this (it always goes to a voicemail and says not to leave more than one message) and I’m freaking out because I’m almost at the point that I can’t pay for my groceries.

  10. I have a problem right now and don’t know who to get in touch with. I am on unemployment in TN, and they are taking child support payments out of my weekly benefits. However, they are not sending the child support to the state in order to be processed and as a result I am over $2000 behind on my child support. I don’t know what to do as the call center say they can’t help me and neither can the state child support office.

  11. Help tn boss filed a claim for i got va unemployment and now they want give it to because of that even tho i have never got a dime from tn

  12. I had to voluntarily Retire from my job of 14&1/2 years to become my Mothers in-home caregiver because she is terminally ill. My last Employer has this in my employment record. I filed for benefits and have applied for WAH positions but due to the COVID-19 no one is currently hiring and my benefits were flat out denied; even the DUA. Why was my situation just denied without the UI-DUA taking into consideration the conditions I had to take early Retirement? I need an appointment with the Knoxville, TN Unemployment Office to discuss and resolve but that information is difficult to find. Help??

    • Brenda,

UI benefits are only offered to claimants who lose employment due to involuntary reasons. I am not sure if you’ll be allowed to physically visit the office. Please call the Claims Center for more.

      • How do I get in touch with an adjudicator. I’ve filed every sense my appeal. An still nothing. All my bill’s are behind. My credit is is shot to heck. Getting ready loose my car. If that happens how am I going to get to work. When my work comes back. This is just plain ridiculous. If we owed the goverment they would garnish wages an anything canto get their money. This is totally wrong.

      • Wen to file an extension on 12/06/2020 and now after a number amount of weeks for the first go around I had zero issues now all the sudden I have unresolved issues

      • Ij need someone to contact me. I need to file an extension and I need to talk to someone about the amount of money that I am receiving. Ty

        • Burlen,

Please note this is a private forum and we do not have access to your claim. Please reach out to the Unemployment Office directly.

  13. Im so frustrated!!!! I have filed since April 8, 2020 and have not received anything…i have gotten through on chat line maybe twice and still nothing is accomplished…My seperation letter is on my account, I just dont understand…..I have nothing coming in and all my bills are behind!!!!! this is the worst experience i have ever had…

    • Hi Sondra,
What I found is that you need to call literally back to back, leave messages even if it says to leave only one and email them as well at [email protected]. Make sure you include your name and claim number it will help to get someone’s attention.

      • I filed in april as well and still nothing. Is anyone else waiting this long? I’ve left SEVERAL voicemails. Sent SEVERAL emails and still nothing! The one time i actually got a live person they just told me to keep waiting…couldn’t tell me anything!

        • Joshua,

I can understand your situation. There will be a delay considering the number of applications that are being processed. Please continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals until payments normalize.

    • Sondra,

I can understand your situation. Please wait for an update from the office. There will be thousands of applications for the office to be processed. Make sure to check the status at regular intervals.

      • I had an appeal. Said would not get paid for the week I appealed. The appeal said would not get paid for that week I didnt job search. Why am I not getting paid for after that.

      • I have not received any information about my unemployment I have no money coming in I was took off work by my doctors because I am a high risk pregnancy but I am behind on my bills I just need to know what going on with my unemployment claim

      • I been trying to get an update on my claim and cant get throught to anyone. I send numerous emails and no response, I’ve been calling every morning for 2 weeks and never can speak to anyone.

        • Jamie,

The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. Please visit the website to find the answers.

  14. I can’t get a live person on the phone or chat room. I was wondering if anyone knows what to do if you have to provide medical documentation that has to be filled out by the doctor but that doctor is out of state?

  15. If this frustrating mess is set to detourant who ever done it done a good job it is absolutely miserable .I have payed taxes for 21yrs and have only drawn one time before .TN tax payers deserve better.!!!!!!

  16. Why aren’t there any information on here to file a complaint against this agency when this agency violates its own policies in order to keep individuals from collecting their benefits.

    • Government employees can’t be fired so they do no work. Talk to you like your trash. Hope Trump fires them all!

    • How would one get the name of a supervisor through the audit dept ? or who is above the audit dept that could be contacted ?

      • Terri,

The names of certain departments and people will never be made public. If you would like to report fraud or similar incidents, you can get in touch with the Claims Dept. Please visit the official website for more.

    • So apparently you cannot certify by phone? Ive hunted the website and when i say hunted thats what i mean. Nothing is simple or easy to navigate. I tried certifying and after 20 minutes of nothing looked for the phone # for the TIPS line to certify. Nope! What a joke. Ive spent a rediculous amount of time for $275 on something that should be simple.

  17. I’ve been trying to certify my weekly claim for 2 weeks now,and I call the tips number and it says they are closed (Sunday) and there hours are 8am til 4pm .I don’t understand why it’s so hard to get unemployment benefits I have worked for 35 years and our government makes it so hard for Americans.illegals get More help then we do,and actually the taxes I’ve paid over them years I worked the illegalls benefits from it.its time for a change.

  18. I think they make it so hard as they don’t have to pay you unemployment I think it is a state cover up and a government oversize needs to notified I know Jeff sessions on a personal level I will be calling him via cell today to find out my option since no one at the tn unemployment calls you back

    • Please note this is a private forum and not a government website.

You may contact the Unemployment Office on the phone numbers provided for paperwork.

    • John,

Please note this is a private forum and we do not have access to your claim details. Please chase the Claims Center pro-actively until you get the payment.

  19. I’ve been trying since September to talk to someone. I’ve called every number you can find and listened to every menu that sends me to the website that doesn’t answer my questions. How can I reach a live person???

    • Pete,

We do not have any information in this regard. You may want to check with the Labor Authorities or read further on the internet.

  20. I need to speak with someone about my a line that is holding me up from submitting my claim. I have called 1800-813-0950. Can I please get a number to speak with someone to get this resolve so I can file my claim?

    • Please look out for an option to speak to a representative on the same phone line.

Alternatively, please consider applying online, over the internet.

  21. I file my first weekly cert in Sept of this year and i have yet receive any type of correspondence. I would like to know what is going on with the case

    • Please note this is a private forum. You can call the Unemployment Office on the phone numbers provided for an update on status.

  22. Thanks for posting this info about unemployment. I called the senators office in Nashville and was able to speak to someone. I was told that someone would be contacting me soon. I am hopeful since I was able to speak to a live person.

  23. Thanks to Kimberly for the idea to call your state representatives office. I called Rusty Crowe’s office this morning. I got a return call from The Department of Labor within two hours. They took my information and said my claim was approved and I would be paid back pay within 3 to 4 days.
I had tried everything on the website and called any number I could and could not get to talk to anyone, or a reply to emails. This system is rediculious. Be sure and check to see who the representative is in your area of the state.

    • I had to call state representative for tennessee to get my claim approved I had been trying to call since September n I know I called 150 if not more n never got through nor did I get a return call or email until I called the state representative

  24. Martin stated above that the TIPS number 615-532-1800 had been corrected on this page. It has not, and I have no internet access to certify today. Can someone please give me the correct TIPS number to certify? Thanks

  25. It’s a MIRACLE! For those that are still in “Limbo” you need to call the Tennessee State Senator’s office (Lee Harris) at 615-741-1767. I did this yesterday afternoon and as of this morning (four emails received from them)I have been approved and should receive a lump sum payment for the past six weeks within 72 hours. You’ll need to give them your claimant ID number and SSN but there are obviously some heads rolling this morning! Hallelujah Jesus!!

    Good luck all!

    • I work in state Senator Lee Harris’ office. OUR OFFICE IS NOT THE UNEMPLOYMENT OFFICE. Their phone number is: (844) 224-5818. If you would like to speak to your state senator or state rep, you can find out who that is here: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/legislators/

Our office does not handle unemployment matters for individuals who are not Senator Harris’ constituents. We are more than happy to assist our constituents but we don’t have the capabilities to handle all unemployment inquiries. I hope this helps!

  26. I have been certifying my unemployment for over 10 weeks and have not received any funds whatsoever…. I have tried to contact you via email a couple of times – no response. I have called the local number, they told me to call Nashville and gave me a number that was a recording only. After reading all of the other comments, has anyone received unemployment from Tennessee. How are people supposed to live, pay their bills and such. What is the problem? What is a number I can call and talk to an actual live person who can answer questions. This is unbelievable and completely unacceptable.

    • I am in the same boat as all these poor people. Began weekly certifications 2nd week of October and NOT ONE PAYMENT received to date. Every week is “In Progress”. I have called every number I could get my hands on (over and over and over – same recordings), I am emailing the TN Dept of Unemployment every couple of days but can’t any response from ANY ONE!! It’s a shame our previous employers paid taxes for our displacement situations, I think there obviously needs to be a Federal Investigation. Martin’s replies are despicable, unhelpful and obviously heartless!!

      • I am sorry you felt that way, Kimberly. We’re a private forum and cannot do much but advise. Since we receive 10s of questions in a day, we have to be crisp and to the point.

You may consider visiting the nearest Unemployment Office for an update on your claim status.

    • Dawn,

I can understand your frustration. Please note this is a private forum and we do not hold any links with the government.

Since you’ve tried calling, the next step would be to consider the option of visiting the nearest Unemployment Office for an update.

  27. I’ve applied and have been doing certifications for a month now and received nothing. Every phone number I call tells me to go to the website. I’ve yet to get a response from emails that I’ve sent. This is already a stressful time without getting the run around from you all.

    • I see the reply visit your local office. Well the last time I did that, you can enter a lobby and speak to someone in the office from a phone in the lobby. The doors are locked so you can’t even get in the office. They say call Nashville which is just a recording. I got my first check then there has been nothing for three weeks, but in progress. You can’t even get a simple question answered.
I even have a recall date from my employer. It is ridiculous.

      • Ralph,

Thank you for writing. We’re a private forum and do not have access to your claim information to give you an update.

    • I am sorry to hear about the situation. Please note this is a private forum and we do not have access to the systems.

If you’re not getting a response, I suggest that you consider visiting the nearest Unemployment Office for an update.

  28. i have been waiting since July 19th
I have certified every single week
I am a grandmother raising three mentally challenged children. This is ridiculous to wait this long only to hear it’s in progress. I have written letters to our state representatives and I have yet to hear anything. I can’t through to a live person. I can’t exactly take three children to a local office and wait. Two are autistic and super hard to take out with lights and noises. What can I do

    • I am sorry to hear about the claim. Well, wish we could help you any further in this regard.

You have to find time to visit personally or send a representative to inquire about the claim status. It should not take so long.

  29. I filed for unemployment 7/19/16. I have yet to receive anything. I certify each week and have submitted everything requested. (Per UI worker) I email and/or call to check in on things but have only received an answer once, at 6 weeks and received above information and told it would take 6-8 weeks because of peak unemployment. I’m now going into week 10 still waiting….

    • You should have not waited for so long. Please chase the office by either calling the Claims Center of visiting the nearest office.

  30. Y can I not get any damn answers about anything concerning my unemployment? I’ve done everything they ask of me, they even sent me the little unemployment debit card, but guess what. No money on it. Anyone know how to get my situation fixed?

    • Please chase the Unemployment Office by calling the Claims Center by phone or visit the nearest office for an update.

It’s your duty to follow up for payment at frequent intervals.

  31. I live in Georgia and I have a combine wage from tn and Alabama. I have cerified for 7 weeks and still saying under review and processing. Never can reach nobody on the phone and the claim says active. How can I find out when my check with be coming. I am not in tn so I can’t go to the office.

  32. Hello, I’m a military spouse who had to quit my job due to orders. I know live in Georgia. I do my certifications each week and update if I get any leads on the jobs I enter. I uploaded my husbands orders and my separation notice. I’m going on week 10 now!!!??! I can’t get in touch with a LIVE person. I leave messages and within hours it as “solved” on my voicemail note located under messages? I’ve waited for over 7.5 hours on the virtual help desk, only to be disconnected. This happened 4 days in a row!!
I received one letter in the beginning that said I should get 7150.00 for 26 weeks. I set it up for direct deposit, but it still says “active issues” under payment. I wrote a letter two weeks ago and sent it in the mail. Still no word! They have people who can go in quickly and put solved on your correspondence to them, but can’t send a letter or call? It feels like they want to give you the run around so you will give up! I’m not sure what to do now? I never received a letter stating I was truly approved or if I’m doing something wrong. This is totally screwed up!

    • It can be frustrating at times when you do not receive the right response.

Please see if you can visit the nearest office to resolve the issue.

  33. After reading other’s questions, it is obvious nobody is getting their benefits here in Tennessee, My first claim was July 2 and I have not received a payment. Do you suggest we personally visit a Department Center? Will this truly accomplish assistance? How can Tennessee justify being so behind on claims? They could offer us the jobs that someone is not doing in that department. Who above the claims staff do we need to collectively put pressure on? This is unacceptable to people who have lost jobs and qualify for these benefits.

    • I can understand your frustration. To add to the comment, we do get quite a few queries from your state.

Perhaps, you can contact/visit the Governor’s office to lodge a complaint in this regard.

  34. I orig filed June 26, 2016. It is now Aug 24, 2016, and I have not received one check. I certified for 3 weeks..but online system has not allowed me to certify since wk ending 7/16. On line, the weekly certification review page shows those weeks to be “in progress”. I’ve sent weekly emails (4) & made weekly phone calls (4) to the 800 number. I have not received one single call back, correspondence, nor assistance despite my attempts. I need to seek out to seek assistance bc I feel this is unacceptable. Does anyone have a number for admin.?
    Thanks, Angie RN

    • Well, since it’s a centralized service, there wouldn’t be a single phone number only.

Please try calling during non-peak hours or try to see if you can visit the nearest office.

  35. I have done five straight weeks of certifications and still no check. The online system keeps saying that it’s under review. What does that mean? And how can I find out if more information is needed from me? How much longer do I have to wait to receive a check?

    • Update: I had to physically go to the Unemployment Office in Metro Center, which by the way, no one can access those employees. Instead, I was told to put my name on a clip board for someone to call me. I didn’t expect to hear from anyone, but lo and behold, I was contacted. It turned out there was glitch in the system that the rep removed and the checks began coming. The first check was back dated and included all the missed weeks.

    • The first check should arrive in about 7-10 days from the time of applying.

  38. I understand to qualify for benefits, you have to lose your job through no fault of your own. As a military spouse, I know in 2012 we were approved to collect when the spouse relocates. My question is, how soon before the move can I quit to prepare for the move? His ETS date is 17 December, and we are not getting the military to move us due to the all the holidays around that time, the movers here have no open schedule during those month. I have read some states allow 30 days prior to prepare, any info would be greatly appreciated as this move will be done with just he & I.

    • Please check further with the labor authorities in your state.

Each states administers exclusive program called the UCX for military men and their spouses.
