Virginia Unemployment Phone Number

Sometimes you just have to talk to a live person to get answers to your questions. In that case, you can call the VA Unemployment Phone Number: Toll Free: 1-866-832-2363.

Be prepared for long wait times because lots of people are trying to do the same thing that you are. Be patient and you will get through to someone that can help you. Even if it is frustrating to wait so long, please be polite to the person you get connected to.

The staffers on the other line are over-worked and are doing everything they can to help all of the people that are contacting them.

When you call the VA unemployment phone number, make sure that you have the following information:

  • Social security number
  • Dates of employment

A pen or pencil, and paper – to take notes

  1. I have been waiting 14 months for back pay a lot of people are.Something not adding up waiting on a deputy really 14 months try again.Staff tell you something different each time no training at all

  2. ’m having the same issues with the online portal I keep reading about. It seems to be unable to verify ID since it’s launch in November and even the reps are at wits in about it. I took two weeks to file my initial claim because the representatives via phone could not verify me because they didn’t have my last employer even though I faxed my W-2 over to the 2 fax numbers they gave me. I know 4 people that the VEC did not show their last employer accurately. I was told by a rep this is a recurring issue. I’m 4 weeks in and they have still not verified the fax with my W-2 and the reps have told me that there is only 2 fax machines and the faxes have to physically be taken by hand from the paper fax and scanned into the system to then be processed and this sometimes takes months to be processed and they can’t even confirm my fax was received. I offered to visit an office but was told that they only help with job searches and could do nothing more than take my W-2 and fax it to the same numbers I already had and it would take the same time to get it scanned into the system. What’s insane is that even though they denied my claim and told me I have to refile once they verify my wages from my last job ( which they can’t confirm if they received the fax I sent on March 8th, again) they have contacted my last employer ( they one they deny I worked for for over a year) but they still say they can’t use that contact to confirm my employment. That employer has offered to send them my pay stubs and w-2 and they had him fax it to the same number and they say they can not verify that fax for 2-4 weeks. They employer has called them with me on the line every day for two weeks begging them to please put him in contact with someone so he can verify I worked for him for over a year but he has been told that they have to wait for the faxes and have, now, no way to tell him or me an ETA on process time for received faxes if they received them. I was told again that many faxes are not being received even when the sender receives a confirmation the fax was successfully transmitted. I have been told when they do finally process the W-2 I will have to refile my initial claim as the deadline will have expired and they acknowledged this through no fault of my own. I hear the frustration in the system from each of the reps I talk to even though they are lovely, the process of the VEC seems completely broken and the reps have no power to correct mistakes or actually help callers. Even then I get different answers from each rep I speak too. People depend on benefits when let go. If they have to spend 1-3 hours a day on the phone everyday for 3-5 months to get benefits and lose a home, car or can’t afford utilities or food due to the time it took to get payment what good are the VEC benefits? I will have a job before I get benefits at this point. Does the VEC expect me to take time from my new job to jump through hoops to try to get the VEC to process my benefits during the time I am out of work? Is the idea to get people to abandon their seeking of benefits? While the reps want to help me they acknowledge they are not empowered to do so and are just there to give standard answers and offer the 411 number to families that can’t afford food or rent. The VEC now knows its system is so broken they are referring benefit seekers to charities because they know that the system the seekers paid into will not work. The state of the VEC, its processes and support is cruel and unjust. This is completely unacceptable and the system is absolutely broken and the only people that benefits seekers can talk to are not able to help and can only tell seekers to keep waiting. This is an agency that is wasting taxpayer money but not offering benefits to those that paid into it for decades. Please tell me and others how we can get to someone that can actually help us. If out of work and benefits seekers are doing all the right things to file why should we be penalized for the many known issues and failings of the current VEC system. Are you ok with people going hungry and losing homes when they are due benefits they paid into? Tracy Mills

    (804) 548-3813

    • Dear Tracy Mills,

Yes, it unnacceptable. Your best options are to
      (1) Keep calling. It’s frustrating but you have to try.
      (2) Contact your US Congress Member to complain
      (3) Contact local media to publicize this–you can begin with taking the message you’ve written above and cutting it into 5-10 paragraphs for easier reading, then contacting your local newspaper or TV station.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don’t give up & keep in mind these agencies are chronically underfunded which means they do not have enough staff to help people.

      Best,

      Jean

  3. Same issue…invalid credentials because of their bad two step verification by phone when signing up. Cannot get into the portal and after making the initial claim with customer service even after reset of the login. I cannot get into the portal OR the phone. You go through the entire reporting and it says at the very end they are having technical difficulties, EVERY DAY. Customer service just says, we know, we can’t do anything about it.

If I lose my house over this I WILL mass tort sue.

    • Amy,

Please consider the option of visiting an office in the vicinity if safe and feasible (you might be required to book an appointment prior to the website).

  4. Just tried 3x times to file an initial claim and your end goes silent. First time I got the entire way through and I was hung on. Bad enough being out of work now this.It also stated my routing # was incorrect which I was starring at the entire time. Your system is broken!!!

    • Trevor,

Please note this is a private forum and we do not have access to the claims file. Please call the Unemployment Office for a faster resolution.

  5. VEC, get your sh!t together already!!! I need my 1099 to do my taxes and when I have been able to get on, it kicks me out, says can’t confirm my digital identity even after I set up the login information and account in the “new” CSS online!!! Incompetent, still!!! Nothing has changed, as you make it out that your new site CSS solved all the serious problems! I registered and when it has let me log on, it kicks me out! I need my 1099 to do my taxes super bad. Can’t confirm digital identity?!?!?!??

    • Jane,

I can understand your frustration. Why don’t you consider calling the Claims Center and talking the issue with a representative?

  6. This is a James Alexander JNP enterprise I’m looking for employees we are an HVAC/electrical company if you have any employees looking for employment please do not hesitate to contact me ASAP 757-274-3148 it is Wednesday afternoon the 26th 11:13 AM

  7. VEC claiment site has been down since beginning of November. First they said it would be up Nov 1, then Nov 8, then Nov 17th. Then they stopped giving a date. As of today January 24th it is still offline!! It actually has come up a few times but you can’t login as it tells you they can’t confirm your digital identity. It would be nice to have the site up for filing the weekly claim but that can e called in. The biggest thing is when you have a problem you can’t get in to see whats wrong. I have not gotten paid in 7 weeks! Oh, they did send me an email the other day telling me to login for my 1099 for taxes…… yeah that would be fine if the damn site worked!

  8. I have been trying to collect unemployment benefits since the end of September 2021. I still have not been approved for one penny as of today, January 19, 2022.

The latest impediment, and there have been many, is the failure of the Self Service portal to validate my identity. According to a customer service representative, the failure is a known systemwide error that “is being worked on”. This has been going on since December, if memory serves me correctly.
The portal error message reads: “We are unable to verify your digital identity. Please contact the Customer Contact Center at 1-866-832-2363 for further assistance.” Calling this number does not resolve the error. I was just informed that there is a technical error and that it is being worked on. Not that helpful unfortunately.

The Catch-22 is that without being able to validate my digital identity, I would not be able to register, and without an account, I would not be able to perform the required acknowledgements (only accomplished through the portal ) in order to complete the weekly claims process.

Frustrated and disappointed would be an understatement.

    • SR,

Please consider the option of visiting an office in the vicinity if safe and feasible (you might be required to book an appointment prior to the website).

  9. I got an email saying I needed to upload a document. I tried repeatedly. Then when I was finally able to access it, I was told a deadline had passed. The original email said zero about a deadline.
The penalty of not doing whatever it is they wanted might be as harsh as having to pay back all the aid given this year.
I need to speak with a human and have had zero luck via phone. Got two email responses that had zero to do with my issue. I’ve left messages at VEC offices. Now I’m going to my representative because it needs to be resolved.
Otherwise, give me a phone number to speak with a human. PLEASE

    • My name is Benjamin Jamal Stone I’ve been having trouble verifying my identity I just emailed the Virginia fact-finding interview paper and I faxed it all put all the information to prove my identity I really need help we’re getting myself verified I filled out all the necessary papers and I sent all the documents can someone please help me

      • Benjamin,

The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. There will be a delay considering the number of applications that are being processed. Please continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals until payments normalize.

  10. I’d like to have someone cancel my unemployment claim and use the HUB remark to communicate this to NJ. I can never get anyone on the line. Please help!!!

      • You tell so many people that help can be had online when it cannot.
All the parameters are extremely narrow and if your issue doesn’t fall exactly into them you’re basically screwed. That’s why SO many people need to speak with a human who knows what they’re talking about.
Even email doesn’t work. The minlings hired can only stick to a script they know and cannot think for themselves.
You’d think Virginia could afford to hire people who know what they’re doing, and enough of them to fit the demand. Shameful.

  11. I have also been trying to reach a live person with no luck. Is it normal that every time I call the 866-832-2363 phone number it asks me for my social and bank account information? But then the call gets dropped. I’m starting to think I was just scammed… It didn’t ask me any other information just my SSN and banking. Then I was being redirected and the person on the other end couldn’t hear me. I could hear them perfectly and it didn’t sound like a professional place of work. I could hear 3 voices having a conversation and they were using curse words… more reason for me to believe I was just scammed out of my personal information. If I don’t hear from someone soon I’m going to file a federal complaint.

    • Also, my claim has been held up because they state they needed my birth certificate, social security card. w-2 and ID , oh dont forget a utility bill. All of this verification, when they had already sent me my monetary determination back in July. By the way, I have the REAL ID, so why I have to provide so much documentation is beyond me. A utility bill … really, they already had a W-2. It seems like a way just to slow down payout money to people, this shouldnt be dragging on for three months. I had to cash out my 401K just to pay bills

    • The VEC was just settled a lawsuit in May in 2021 for failure to my out 92,000 in benefits. I missed the cut of dates by a week to get in on this lawsuit.

  12. How do I get someone to cancel my claim? I was told I need to get in contact with someone at VA Unemployment office and have them cancel my claim using either a HUB or IBWI remark. I’ve been calling for months but can never get anyone on the line. I’ve sent emails and faxes but have never received anything back.

  13. Two weeks ago I made a phone appointment that was scheduled for today and nobody called. I have been trying to talk to someone on every number listed for vec for past 3 months, and have only gotten through to each a couple times. Every time they tell me to call another number. Both 1 (866) 835-6058 and
    1 (800) 897-5630 tell me to call
1 (866) 832-2363, and they tell me to call one of the other two numbers. It’s ridiculous, i was finally able to make an appointment and they didn’t honor it. Just want someone to help me put this damn claim through, but nobody even asks for my info they just pass it off to other office!!!! any help would be greatly appreciated!

    • My husband has been doing the exact same thing. He’s been unemployed due to Covid since March and has spent hours every day trying to get through. He has zero income and we’re about to lose our home. This is insane. Can anyone tell me what to do or how he can get through to a person?????

      • Amy,

Please consider the option of visiting an office in the vicinity if safe and feasible (you might be required to book an appointment prior on the website).

    • Ever since Biden has been in office and they changed the system it is completely broken. Pre-Democrats: I got my checks and could always reach someone. Now, I haven’t gotten a check in 4 months, only got a few prior. Website doesn’t provide any info and I can’t reach anyone. I’m a single dad and this is a dire situation. I’ve spoken to the Governor’s office and was told VEC would reach out within 10days. That was 2 months ago. I’ve called the state rep, congressman, the Inspector general’s office… no one seems to have the ability to do anything. The system is completely broken. The people in leadership don’t seem to have a clue one how to run a state government and the agencies. I can’t understand how it’s completely fallen apart so quickly.

    • Amanda,

The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. Please visit the website to find the answers.

      • The website and phone numbers are endless loops that lead nowhere. I have been trying to reach someone since Dec 2020. This is a freaking joke! Easy to say unemployment numbers are low when the state is neglecting peoples benefits.

        • Michael,

We understand your situation. There will be a delay considering the pendency. Please continue following up regularly.

  14. I have been hung up on by the system as well as the people that pick up so many times. All I need is a pin but I cant get it because Im either hung up on or left on hold for over half an hour before being hung up on. Its been like this for weeks now. I am trying to be patient but at this point its just unreasonable.

I dont understand why there isnt any other way for me to get my PIN so I can avoid this horrible Gov2Go service.

    • It say problem issue on claim.
No payment for 5 weeks now.
Calling 4 days in a row now.
      I have emailed as well.
Why can’t gov2go show what’s wrong and allow me to fix it?
I did everything I was supposed to and vrs accepted claims.
This would relieve all the call centers volume greatly.
      Please assist, regards
      Jay Dean.

    • I haven’t received my benefits in roughly 4 weeks now. It is allowing for me to apply for them online but I do not receive payments anymore, and I have been accepted until the date of September 1st. When I call the automated check claim it says mine expired. I’ve been trying to call the 800 number and all it does it hang up.

      • This same thing is happening to me, have you gotten any response?? I have to move soon and am missing almost $1500 and I have no idea what to do! Been trying to reach someone for two weeks now!

      • Jessica,

Looks like someone has to update the system. Please call during off-peak hours for a better response.

        • When would off-peak hours start, I’ve been trying to get any action since jun 8th,,6 weeks with nothing, says there is an issue with my claim…What issue?? No answers, no response, no nothing

        • William,

Please consider the option of visiting an office in the vicinity if safe and feasible (you might be required to book an appointment prior on the website).

        • It’s been over 3 months now, of me calling or trying to go online.. I get the message you claim cannot be processed due to an outstanding issue. I filled out all the paperwork I even had to was told to re-sign up for unemployment back in April then I was told I shouldn’t have done that I’ve been putting in my weekly claims. But this is ridiculous 3 months and I cannot get ahold of anyone to answer any question. How am I supposed to solve this problem if I can’t get ahold of anyone.

      • I have done Everything required of vec. I even did the idme verification weeks ago and was approved.
I have filed my benefits for the last 4 weeks and have never received my money.
Now I am being evicted because of this.
I have called everyday sometimes up to 50/100 times a day. You absolutely Cannot get through.

      • This is bs. Ive been calling every number I can find since a year ago and still haven’t been able to get a single person on the phone. Now va wants their money back but I can’t get someone on the phone to change it from regular UI to PUI?!? Or get a response to my emails or to my written mail.. Out of control.

  16. Is the Portsmouth office open? I opened a claim 2 months ago and have “outstanding issues” that need to be resolved. I have mailed paperwork and still haven’t heard anything.

  17. This is the worst system I have ever dealt with. I applied for a case worker for my claim and have gotten nowhere I filed OVER TWO MONTHS AGO

  18. No offices in the alexandria fairfax area are open. The nearest one is in woodbridge and thata over 30miles away. How are we to get help if we cant get anyone on the line. Ive called offices in Fredericksburg and left messages and havent gotten a call back either.

    • I have been trying for over a week to get weekly payments. Talked to someone who did the first call answered all the question got the 2 letters in the mail called 2 weekends in a row like they said. Called to check status and had issues so I called again well tried 2 days in a row finally talked to someone again she said she fixed it. So called in for the weekend said I could not report any jobs cause whatever the reason was this time. Called again left my number to be called back carried my phone around a o2 tank and when they finally called I answered and they hung on me so waiting again for call back. So I understand you say be patient but that ship has sailed.

    • Yes this is ridiculous, when people are suffering out here with covid destroying their families an they change the prompts an everything but have ABSOLUTELY NO WAY OF GETTING AHOLD OF A LIVE PERSON FOR HELP!??

    • I can’t get a live person on the phone. The VEC phone numbers.do not even allow you to hold for a live person. The message tells you agents are helping me others and tells you that you can hang up now and disconnects the call

    • Erika,

There are thousands in the same boat. All I can ask you to do it to keep trying all channels.

      Best wishes!

Can I please get a phone number or email address that actually works in order to get my new PIN? Please don’t send me that 866-832-2363 number- all that does is hang up on people. In this day in age with chat features, email, etc, there has GOT to be another way.

  23. They just re-opened a claim I filed Feb. 15; it was closed due to the VEC’s errors. Benefits should begin May 1.

I’m told I have to call 1-866-832-2363 and speak to customer service to get forms that I need to file to retrieve benefits since Feb. 15. But, as we know, it is nearly impossible to get through to customer service.

Is there an alternative to calling? Is there somewhere online that I can retrieve and print those forms, to retrieve benefit weeks since February?

    • Jeff,

  24. What a joke. You are providing false info to people. You are a BOT..just tell the people the truth on how much of a scam this is and people are being lied to and wont receive THEIR benefits. Disgusting the way you all treat your citizens.

  25. I have been calling for months. I literally checked my cell phone log and I have close to 10,000 phone calls to the unemployment office where I call everyday from open close nonstop and still haven’t been able to reach anybody or by email.

      • Jeff,
I was approved for the PEUC 2021 in late March and began filing my weekly claims, I was able to file for weeks at a time until my B.Y.E. came up so I resubmitted the Initial weekly unemployment app as instructed by VEC employee, I was approved and told to file to get payments, I apply for work as told to do and now over a week it’s saying I have an outstanding issue and an employee said he saw Fraud on my file but also said don’t worry just yet, I’ve been seeing a lot of these. I was told to copy my DL, S.S. card and birth certificate and send it to a report team in Grundy, VA ??? Will this assist me ?? Need help please.

    • Hello my name is Donmonique, and I have been on pua for quite a while now up until April 7th which was my 27th week , and I didn’t receive my payment for that week, however yet again this week I also didn’t receive my normal pay. Now all of a sudden everytime I click on my gov2go app to file, it states ” SORRY YOU HAVE NO MORE WEEKS TO FILE ” so if you or someone could lead me in the right direction then I would highly appreciate it

    • I still have not gotten my form to file my taxes I keep filing my clams for benefits I still haven’t received anything yet I really need to talk to a live person because every time I file my claims it take make me file 2or more claim please have someone to call me 757-581-5327 Thank you

    • You can login to your unemployment account and go to discover more search w2 and it should give you am option to see your form

      • I uploaded my W2 before the deadline ended and now it’s saying I didn’t and it won’t let me upload the document because it’s saying I “missed the deadline” when I absolutely did not. And now I can’t even file my PUA weekly claims. Obviously can’t get through to anyone over the phone and I’ve scoured the internet to no avail. Any suggestions on what I need to do now?

        • Kaitlyn,

Please check if you can visit an office (many are based on appointments) or write an email detailing the problem.

  26. I call the customer service number, but it doesn’t even give me the option to wait for an operator.

I understand that everyone is helping others at the moment. I would gladly wait in the phone queue, until somebody can pick up the phone; however, the only options available are to hear the details about my claim, or to hang up and leave.

Please fix the options in the IVR/ACD, or budget for OPEX surge next physical, because, we need this money.

  27. This entire system is a joke. They say they are overworked……psshhh. Getting in touch with any actual human is near impossible. Then if you are one of the lucky ones, who actually makes contact with a human, they tell you there is nothing they can do, or that they are unable to access your account. Then they give you another number, which guess what…..it’s another dead end and you will most likely be hung up on by a machine. It is unfortunate that the people who are truly suffering and at risk of loosing everything they have worked so hard for over the years, are treated in this manor. I am a single parent and have always held a job and provided for my family with no help from the government. Now when I have to rely on them (at no fault of my own) I, and many others like me, are treated as if we do not matter. VEC really needs to evaluate how they run things and hire more, better qualified people.

  28. I did not receive my 1099 form from VEC for tax year 2020 and am attempting to resolve this with them. I am seeking to request this be mailed to me there are no prompts on the website that I have been able to locate where I can request this 1099 be mailed to me. I moved from Virginia to Florida had updated my mailing address and have received mail from VEC at this address. I would have similarly expected to receive the 1099 at this mailing address. How do I request a 1099 be mailed to my address. Can this 1099 be accessed electronically?

  29. I have not received help since July 2020. This is suck crap. They all should be ashamed of them selves.
I have 2 kids and losing everything I have car house life….. and my gov dose not care!!!!and have not contacted me!!!!! But if they wanted me to pay my taxes they would call me, email or find someone to come to my house or even try to jail me.

  30. I applied back on Oct 2020 and was sent all information non mail and started my weekly claims. Never received and payments as of yet. Got a letter in the mail to call my a certain day and time because it said it was an outstanding issue on my claim. I couldnt get a live person on the phone and I been calling two weeks. No way to reach anyone in customer service. There was a number on the letter and when I called the number it said they don’t see they sent me any letter for me to call and it hangs up….

  31. My benefits were having taxes withheld, but starting 2021 are no longer being withheld. I tried calling the 2363 # but never able to get through to talk to someone, says all lines busy and try again. Looking for direction on how to get tax withholding corrected

  32. I am almost done with everything!!!! I have e little girls 2,6,8.We are STRUGGLING!!surviving off free school foods through the week. I was cut off from peuc on 12/26/20. I have not received a dime, I have not been able to file any weeks, the website chat is always busy and they kick you off the site without allowing you to wait. That phone number is worst..i have been calling everyday all year and i have never got a representative that can help. At this point I dont know what to do.I. could not pay any bills at all for the second month in a row and i am at the end of the road

  33. I was claiming in DC but after filling for an extension and waiting 11 weeks they told me I am ineligible because I did a tiny bit of work in VA and should claim there. They told me to call so I don’t loose the 11 weeks. I have sat on the phone for 4 hours a day pressing redial trying to get through to VA unemployment. There is no waiting system, how the hell do you get through?? I am desperate.

  34. I am wondering why i have not received any benefits My effective date was 08/12/20 i have
continued filing weekly. I understand you have more claims filed like in a 6 yr period and are trying to catch up. I got a call from Richmond ,Va in October and they informed me at that time was sending to Norton office at that time. Would appreciate information on this matter
    Thanks

  35. How do I get a summary of benifits? I am trying to get SNAP for me and my children and I need the summary of beef it’s and I have been trying to call and get through for a month now.

    • Call the Fredericksburg Virginia Office and leave a detailed voicemail. They will call you back within a week. They will mail to you. I just went through this but I just found out about it and was too late.. had to reapply.

      • I have tried contacting the unemployment office because they said I don’t have a work in Virginia order. I have called.mutliple times daily for a month and left messages, nothing. I have emailed, no response. Seriously what am I supposed to do?

        • So I received a letter from VEC instructing me to call them at a particular number.Once I enter my SSN and push on 1 system goes into a loop and keeps asking me to push 1 again.
Does anyone check on the numbers they put out for the public?
I can’t get through and I cant get done what they’ve asked me to do. Furthermore, I dont have proof that this is happening!!

        • Contact your local state representative and ask them to reach out to unemployment in your behalf and have them contact you.

        • Heather,

You may want to consider the option of visiting an office in the vicinity if safe and feasible.

      • I have filed 5 straight weeks of unemployment and received no payments. I didnt qualify for regular unemployment so they filed me under pandemic and I got my monetary letter but thats been 31/2 weeks agoband still no payment. Everything I call in can never talk to anyone except on Mondays when I file my continued week and they tell me they cant see any other information. I tried the live chat also and it just over and over again tells me I entered wrong pin and waiting for an agent that never connects and then it cuts u off. This is 5 weeks and im going to lise EVERYTHING and NOBODY can seem to HELP…PLEASE SONEONE TELL ME WHAT TO DO BEFORW I LOSE MY HOME AND EVERYTHING????

      • I don’t see a place for statements anymore. Didn’t Virginia change their online portal to gov2go in the Fall of 2020? Please show me where you can go online to get a statement. I have an online account and it’s not available. Thx

  36. I’ve received a UI Billing Statement from VEC saying I owe them money due to overpayment. This makes no sense to me because I have never received unemployment since my first filing in March 2020. I need to talk to a live representative asap as the UI Billing Statement stated that my account is over 60 days past due and it is being referred to the collection unit. I’ve been told to remit a payment asap. How can I reach a live representative on the phone? There’s got to be a way to reach a representative by phone somehow. I hope I can get some direction from someone. All I get when I call are auto choices and none of them address my issue or a way to connect with a live person.

  37. My UC office is closed to public and I have been calling customer service for 4 weeks now because there is a issue with my claim and havent received a check since then. How do I get answers about my claim?

      • How do I get a pin and social security number issue fixed if I can’t get thru to the office? I’ve received my pin and amount that I’ll be receiving but my pin and social would work when filing my weekly claim.

      • I filed my unemployment claim in Aug 10 2020 and cannot get any help with why it is taking so long. I was unfairly let go from my job after 13 years!! I need help!

        • I received a letter stating I am eligible for unemployment. Date 3/28/2021. I attempted to file the week following. Was unable bc I was not given a pin number. I have called the 1800 number for the VEC..its a non working number. I have proof of calling multiple times a day, sometimes over 50x. I have emailed hundreds of times as well. NO RESPONSE. how do I file? What next. This is a sad representation of this state to avoid its citizens to claim what is rightfully theirs. I guess i should petition the court? Anyone having this same problem, please let me know.

  38. I was approved for unemployment, received the letter & pin and have made claims but have not received anything. I lost my job sept 29 & applied a couple days after. I’ve tried to call & cannot get through. Any advice?

      • Hi Sam,
Need help, have been trying to reach the Unemployment office by phone, email, and I even went to the office nearest to me and they are closed to the public with a sign stating that they are only servicing via voicemails and emails. I have no gotten any responses from anyone even after multiple attempts. The only thing I need is my pin as I have not received that or the 1099-G form in the mail to file my taxes and time is running out plus the website has nothing. What can I do to actually speak with someone or how can I get this pin ?!

      • Hello Sam, I was receiving deposits in my checking account my unemployment but since I applied for PUA, PEUC or LWA, In Gov2Go it just no info at all. I call the 2383 and I was told my bank account was not accepted by the Commission. Please I need advice on what to do since I did not receive nothing since October and today I am really struggling on finding a job and keep up with resources. Thank you.

        • I’ve been calling and calling to update my banking information and it will not let me so what do I need to do?

        • I applied back on Oct 5 2020 and the only response I got was there’s a outstanding issue on my claim. I cant get a live person on the phone and I’m about to lose everything I own. The website has no answer’s! And I’ve sent a email and nobody has responded to that either! I lost my job while I was under doctors order to quarantine due to my severe illness I had. Covid symptoms! I thought I was gonna die in my sleep! I had all my documentation from my doctor and so did H.R from my past job! I need help!!

        • Darrian,

I can understand your situation. There will be a delay considering the number of applications that are being processed. Please continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals until payments normalize.

      • Trying to contact customer service for one month to to fix something on my p u a applications for benefits cannot get through I’m not receiving any benefits I need help

        • I haven’t received my 1099 in the mail. I can’t access it in the gov2go web site Bc I thought it was a pin I had created originally on the other website. I tried calling the office but haven’t been able to talk to anyone

        • Sheila,

There will be barely any customer support. Please try finding answers online, on the department’s website.

  39. I applied for benefits over a week ago and still haven’t gotten my pin…how am I supposed to file the continuation stuff required if I don’t have my pin? Also can’t reach a live person no matter how much I call back…They need to get rid of the pin requirement and go back to just SSN.

  40. I am in need of assistance with my VEC account and I have been calling the customer service number for like weeks now and to no avail I can never ever get thru for someone to take my call. I need help and money ASAP. LIke really what do you all expect people to do in situations like this.

    • Glenda,

I can understand your situation. This is a private forum and we do not have access to your claim. Please consider the option of visiting an office in the vicinity.

        • Apparently, I have an “outstanding issue” on my PEUC claim. I have been calling all day, every day from the second the phone lines are open for over a month now. I’ve gotten the “call back later” recording every single time. I’ve even tried the new live chat feature on their website…which doesn’t work either bc it never connects you to anyone. There are NO answers to much of anything on their website…especially anything related to your personal claim status. This is just ridiculous. I understand that they’re overloaded with calls, claims, etc….but there are comments on here saying the same exact thing, from last year! One would think they would have their crap together by now. What are we supposed to do?!

        • Suzzane,

You can continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals until payments normalize.

      • Hi Sam,

Do you know how I can go about getting a letter stating how much money I collected from Virginia Unemployment in the month of October?

It is for insurance purposes that I need this and it is pressing.

        Thank you

  41. No matter how many God damn times I call It tells me to call again later and hangs up on me I’m getting really pissed off and sick of getting the run around someone help me

      • Hey Sam,
What do you think I should do if the Unemployment Office is inundated with pending requests? Should I wait it out, or keep calling? What do ya think? Thanks so much for the quick response and help!

  42. I had a mistake on my last name when I applied for EB and I was trying everyday to talk to a customer representative but couldn’t reach to any one so how can I fix this issue

    • is there some type of help that I could get I’ve been contacting the VC of Richmond Virginia for 2 months now finally got in touch with someone about a month ago put in the claim for fraud and victim of identity theft I’m just trying to figure out how do I resend one to try to figure out when will I be receiving my payments again I have not received them in 3 months since even identifying the problem from the beginning again how do I reach anyone I can’t get ahold of anyone

    • Same problem. This is obviously avoiding payment. Let me know if you get an answer. I track everything. We may have to go to court, I assume is next step? Just sickening.

      • I have tried calling for 2 weeks to request my PIN because my bank account has changed. Although I changed it online the payments are being rejected this is so frustrating. I just keep getting disconnected.

        • Morgan,

I can understand your situation. There will be a delay considering the number of applications that are being processed. Please continue chasing the office/check your status online at regular intervals.

  43. Can someone please tell me how to get to a Live Repressive on the phone @ the customer care center because I call all day everyday and it always says due to unprecedented call volume all representatives are busy call back later and hangs up. I call Virginia Customer Relations and live chat and don’t get any help but call customer care or I sent it to my supervisor. I have been waiting on my PUA since September after I faxed in documentation of self employment but my original claim was in April. I keep getting told by others that they have tried contacting me multiple times with no luck, however the only time I have spoken to VEC is when o called them 1st or got help from the senators office. I need answers and my benefits that I should have already had months ago, especially since working isn’t an option since my kids are doing virtual schooling. I just need help please!’n

  44. Please help me talk to a representative. I have been calling that number all day for the last 3 days. I haven’t received my extra 300.00 weekly and I don’t know why

    • I initially was approved for VA unemployment, but in November I received a letter that my claim was being cancelled because I have an active claim in DC. I went over and closed the claim in DC. Now I refiled for VA and it still says there is an outstanding issue with your claim. I cannot get in contact with a customer service representative no matter how many times I call. What should I do now??? I have not received any payments since November….this is really frustrating and I will no longer be able to pay my bills soon!

      • I was. Told that i could sign up for pua and get 158.00 a week since I disqualified for regular unemployment..I haven’t got. The first 158.00..i have called that number and called and can not get noone on the phone

        • Yup. They wont respond. They wont respond to email either. Good luck. It’s a scam.

        • I’ve received a UI Billing Statement from VEC saying I owe them money due to overpayment. This makes no sense to me because I have never received unemployment since my first filing in March 2020. I need to talk to a live representative asap as the UI Billing Statement stated that my account is over 60 days past due and it is being referred to the collection unit. I hope I can get some direction from someone. All I get when I call are auto choices and none of them address my issue or a way to connect with a live person.

    • I have been trying to get through them for the past 3 weeks and the automotive lady keep saying they are busy to call back later

      • I’m unable to work for medical reasons. I got my monetary letter and pin and I also put in 3weeks of claims. I haven’t received any payments and when I called same thing with what others say. Am I disqualified for claims if I’m unable to work and who can I speak with to fix the problem.

      • Lakisha,

The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. Please visit the website to find the answers.

    • You can’t talk to anyone if you’ve already filed a claim. The only option is online chat at vec.Virginia.gov/benefits-path This is directly from talking with 2 live people who said they couldn’t help with why payments stopped

    • William,

Please try finding answers online since there might be limited phone support due to the shortage of staffing. You can use the “Resources” or “FAQs” section of the website.

      • Can’t get any help since July 2020. No response to texts, letters, live chats, . Have called over 100 times, always busy

      • i have waited 2.5 months for this PIN number, wher is is hoa do i obtain it who has it give a phone number. for 2.5 moths i get the same thing “as courtesy we will resnd in 3 days 2.5 months PLEASE. Taking a 3 day holiday during a pandemic.HOW DO I GET THIS pin GIVE ME A LIVE PERSON. WE ARE GOING HUNGRY

        • Yup. They dont respond. Good luck. I never got a pin number either. It’s a scam. I’m thinking we will need to report them. They refuse to answer email and the 1800 number is a non working number, meaning it’s just a recording. No one live answers.

      • Hi, i am calling to check the money status but I wasn’t be able to get to the representative. Can you please give me a number or tell when will i be getting my approved PUA money.

        • The Unemployment Office might be inundated with pending requests. Please check the payment status online.
